Visited my parents graves today. It is very disturbing to see how unkept the gravesites are. My parents have been there many years and I've seen it bad before but today was the worst!! From ant beds taking over, flower vases broken off built in markets , grass and weeds completely out of control, it looks more like a war zone than a cemetery! My parents are in St Luke. I spoke with the office and was told by the person that she was in shock and would have to talk to maintenance about it!! My question is who at Dignity holds maintenance accountable? Do they ever just walk the cemetery to make sure they are doing their job or do they just assume it's getting done?? How do I find out why DIGNITY is NOT showing our love ones much DIGNITY? It's awful and I so hate it has come to this! I have a video to back this up!! read more

A total lack of respect for your loved ones, I say that simply because they cant seem to handle the basic of request. They have repeatedly failed to secure a monument that fell over due to the creek washing out the area behind my families plot. They simply put rip rap rock where the creek eroded the wall and did not actually fixed the problem, in fact its starting to fall over again. I have been dealing with them for 5 + years and still haven't fixed the problem, my Parents dealt with this prior to their passing. Spoke with them again today and still have the same "Ill have it fixed and taken care of tomorrow, told him, the "General Manager" cant do tomorrow were burying my Brother? They did offer to move the family plot but to locations that did not fit the needs that my Parents selected. Just in case some one may wonder its an "act of God" doesn't apply folks, they knew the creek was there, they knew about erosion, they knew that selling a plot at a curve at a creek is a focal point of erosion, especially in severe weather. They want to move the monument forward a few feet which will place the monument over the heads of my family and is not what was agreed upon! A total lack of respect of the deceased and their family! Dignity should start with the perpetual care of a families plot! read more

Wow! What an absolute lack of respect for grieving loved ones, and poor timing. When we scheduled my mother-in law's funeral the week prior, the person we were dealing with was sweet and caring. She asked if we could meet the week after the funeral to basically what I assumed was an after-action review (what went right/wrong, could be improved upon). Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away the previous weekend, so she wasn't there. We were, however, directed to another lady, who seemed to be "training" a new employee. At any rate, what was supposed to be a meeting about how the funeral went (or so I thought) turned out to be a sales pitch to my wife and I to purchase our own burial plots. When I explained that I was a veteran, and would be buried in a National Cemetery, it was like I was talking to deaf ears. I kept being told, "We can lock you in at today's rates. As you just saw, funerals are expensive, and they're only going to continue to increase." We had just buried my wife's mother two days prior! You can and must do much better! read more

My grandson is buried in the baby garden. I put flowers on his grave 8/30/24 and notified Joshua Marsh that it looked like maintenance had gone through wt a weedwacker and trashed the area. He said he would take care of it. My daughter took her kids to their brothers grave today 11/11/24 and they had taken EVERYTHING AWAY. His flowers, ALL the babies flowers, his vase, the car his 3yr old brother left. Everything that had been lovingly put out or planted by families that had the heartbreak of putting their baby in the ground was GONE. My daughter was distraught and expressed this to Sharon who stated it was their tight to remove anything. I spoke to Mandy the manager who told me anything left on their headstone would be left alone but faded and tattered flowers would be taken away. The only way things would have been moved from his headstone would have been moved BY MAINTENANCE. I know his flowers were still good bc I MADE the arrangement (I make wreaths and arrangements I know how to make them last) and they had only been there since the end of Aug. I was so disgusted by my daughter's treatment and my treatment by this place if I could afford to move him and it wouldn't be a devastating process I would move him to Vance. read more

My mother passed away April 20th, 2022, and her funeral was the on 25th. That day my brother and I order the headstone. I was sent the design two weeks later and I approved it that day. And have the email to prove it. It wasn't ordered til the following month. It is going on 1 year and still nothing. I call and people say they will call me back and never do. I know things like this take time but a year!!! And when you tell a customer that you will call them back with information do it!!!! And the crazy things is it didn't take them a year to take that money out of my account. And when people order things like this you should tell them how long it will take. I go over there every month because I don't live in Columbus and every month it breaks my heart. Update: Brandy @Parkhill called me back and let me know that she had handled the situation. She is the only one that actually helped me. read more

Not had a good experience thus far. My mom passed away beginning of November and arrangements where made that at least went fine. My husband and my dad went back the next week at their request to write out what we wanted on her marker. He calls back a couple of months later to find out what was taking so long, since he hadn't even gotten a email to confirm the marker, only to find out they could even find where it had worked up. So now here we are almost 6 months in and still no marker. Just really adds a lot of sadness to an already grieving family. read more

After reading the other person's review, I agree fully. When my Mother passed away in Aug 2007, Striffler-Hamby didn't do one thing that I asked them to do for my mother, as far as getting her dressed. I asked them to roll her hair in little curlers, tight, so it would be curly. Even though she was 95 years old, she was not old, she was young. She always had her makeup on. I asked them to fix her makeup and put on some lipstick and rouge and paint her finger nails. When I saw her, her hair was straight and pulled straight back, you could hardly see her makeup, and her fingernails still had half the polish on there I had put on her two weeks before that. I was sick. It was a mess. and they didn't care one bit. We will ever use Striffler's again. read more

In the last several months, I have been directly and indirectly involved in the planning of services and burials at Parkhill Cemetery and Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, GA. For many years my family used Striffler-Hamby and Parkhill exclusively and the service was great. I have even even been a part of the planning of two service since dignity took over and those were good experiences. However, in the planning of and involvement of the last three services and in talking with numerous others who have had the misfortune of choosing Parkhill and Striffler-Hamby they have all been very bad experiences. In fact, I would consider the most recent interaction with Mark to be traumatic. No doubt, the burial business has been about profit since its inception and that is ok. However, in the past Striffler-Hamby and Parkhill at least did a good job of expressing condolences, being empathetic and making the transaction feel as pleasant as such a time like that can be. However, these last transactions have been very much like a used car dealership transaction in fact, I wonder if Mark missed his calling, I think he would be much better suited for used car sales.. The employees were rude, uncaring, and seem to go out of their way to find problems rather than solve them. Unfortunately many, myself included have already purchased burial plots at Parkhill and have little option put to use them. However, when it come to mortuary arrangements. I HIGHLY recommend McMullin Funeral Home. With our most recent experience they went above and beyond to meet any needs and request and did an excellent job of showing empathy. At no point during the process with McMullin were things strained, but with Mark at Parkhill, we constantly felt like we were haggling over the price of a used Buick. The entire process was antagonistic. We were forced to interact with Parkhill because the loved one had purchased a plot at Parkhill. The "salesmen" dressed, and played the part of a used care salesman and it was a dreadful experience. If you don't already own a plot at Parkhill, consider trying elsewhere and if you do own a plot at Parkhill, please warn your loved ones that they are in for an excruciating experience at one of their most vulnerable times. Sadly this sentiment has been expressed by AT LEAST 5 families that I am personally connected with in Columbus in the last 18 months with Striffler-Hamby and especially Parkhill. read more

The staff at Parkhill has always been very kind and compassionate, from selecting a gravesite through the upkeep several years later. Our family's plots are well maintained and any concerns are taken seriously and made right immediately. Highly recommended. read more
