I'll start by saying this is the first time I have left a negative review of anything, my…read moreexperience was that poor I felt like I needed to. I am a loyal and dedicated Harris teeter shopper, I go out of my way to go to Harris teeter over all other stores and have been a rewards member for years. Unfortunately I had a negative experience today at the Lady's Island location. Surprisingly the store was not as busy as it normally is so I decided to order some lunch. I went to the sandwich station and the woman behind the counter asked me what I wanted. I told her I'd like a spinach wrap please. She fumbled behind the counter for a little and then told me irritatedly she would have to go retrieve some. I politely responded by saying no problem how about use whatever kind of wrap you have behind the counter. She then asked what kind of sandwich would it be. I had long since made up my mind prior to ordering because right there in front of me occupying the stands that lined the front of the deli stand were thousands, quite literally thousands, of all kinds of delicious breaded chicken tenders. When I then glanced up at the deli sandwich menu and saw breaded chicken as an option I told the woman I would like some of that. She took looked at me very confused and said "we ain't got dat". I looked down at the thousands of breaded chicken tenders that lay before me and said what about all these? She replied, "yea, we ain't got dat". I then became confused because I was standing in a massive grocery store in front of a colossal section of breaded chicken and staring at a deli sandwich menu that had "breaded chicken tenders" as an option. Not sure if this woman was having a bad day or just didn't want to do her job, so I simply said it was no worries and I will be on my way. It didn't end there. I turned around to the pizza station. Again, I was the only person in line and no one else was around. I asked the woman behind this counter if I could have a slice of cheese, she looked me in the eyes, didn't respond, walked out from behind the station and walked away muttering "I'll be right back." At this point i was a bit confused as a loyal Harris teeter patron. The service at the place I love so much could not be this poor. So I stuck it out and waited roughly 10 minutes (feels like an hour at this point) for when the woman finally returned. She looked up at me like she had never seen me before and didn't say anything. Confused I said...may I have that slice of cheese pizza please? She grabbed a slice and handed it to me. I said thank you but no words were exchanged from her end during the entire encounter. I took my pizza went to checkout. As I did so I looked over at the sushi section of the deli and it finally gave me a sliver of hope for the franchise I love. The guys were back there meticulously prepping their delicate rolls, smiling, greeting customers, delivering food to patrons, true masters of their art. Unfortunately the two employees at the deli and pizza station leave me no choice but to recount this experience with those I know, and warn them when visiting our favorite Harris teeter. Just goes to show customer service and simple manners go a long way.

First bite - yuck The dough and crust was under cooked - doughy and chewy. The pie was loaded with cheese and sausage and very skimpy on the pepperoni. The cheese was bland and even slightly burnt- low quality. Pepperoni was tasteless. The sauce was missing - could not even find a trace of it on the pie. Worst pizza I had ever had ! Yuck times 10 ! Not worth my time to return. I'll just eat the cost and never order again. Was really surprised because it looked so good - but that's it ! Trust me skip it - they need some serious help to make this a better pizza. If your desperate go to the freezer section -anything you select from there will be 1000 X better !! I tossed mine in the trash can and apologized to the wastebasket ! Yuck !

A few years ago I learned from social media that Publix has really good handmade subs. So we tried and have had a good experience every time. You basically go up to the deli area and order. I got a chicken salad wrap with lots of veggies. My only complaint really is it was very soggy. And became difficult to eat. It wasn't bad in taste really just berry soggy and dripping. Next time I won't get that. It is just plain chicken salad. Mayo and chicken. Needs some seasoning too. The rest of the subs were a hit. I do have to say the deli team member was very nice. But did not speak much English. Which made it a bit difficult to ask questions and ask for ingredients on the sandwich. She was nice and we made it through. We will be back next year.

Good deal too. They do grill up kinda small. Small compared to the standard hamburger buns. More bun than burger. Just FYI. Everything is easy to find in the store. It's laid out simply. Signs everywhere. Staff is pleasant, shelves are stacked. Prices are basically pretty good. Some things are high but if you know prices then you can find something reasonable. The Frito Chips were advertised on special for 4 for $10 or whatever the regular price per item was if you didn't purchase 4 bags of the same size/options. When I checked out, I asked the attendant if I could use a store Kroger/coupon card, as I'm not.a local and don't have a Kroger card (we don't have Kroger where I live). The attendant acted somewhat odd - and I wondered if perhaps I had offended her because I didn't greet her properly (though I was not rude) before asking about using a store Kroger card for the discounts. She didn't respond to me at first and then asked how I was. After we completed the pleasantries, I then asked again about the discount card usage and she agreed that she would be glad to help with my request. We made pleasant talk as she rang the order up, though her mannerisms seemed to indicate she was exhausted or possibly on some type of medication. I asked if she was tired and ready to go home, which she denied and then she talked about her allergies. We spoke about allergies for a bit and then I used my credit card to pay once the grocery order was complete and she used the store discount card to apply to the order. After paying, I looked at the receipt and noted it did not appear the chips rang up as 4 for $10. She questioned my thinking and I showed my receipt. She continued acting somewhat odd, as if medicated or something. I offered to take a photo of the coupon at the shelves where I observed the coupon and left my receipt with her while I went to the chip aisle. I came back to the register and walked up to her with my phone. She asked me to wait, as she had taken the next folks in line behind me by this point - which I did with no issue/patiently. When she finished the folks behind me in line, she looked at my phone showing the coupon on the store shelf with the advertised price and the brands, etc. included in the coupon. She seemed unsure and seemed to continue to question my logic as well as act somewhat addled. I decided to move on and asked for the receipt. She said she didn't keep it. I did not argue nor did I attempt to correct her. I matter of fact stated, I left it with you when I went to look at the coupon. I also stated that if this was the worst thing that ever happened to me, I would live a good life and I then turned to go. She called me back from the door holding up the receipt. I then looked at the receipt with her and attempted to talk about the question again. She indicated that I didn't use my phone coupon and that was the issue. At this point, I stated that I would not have purchased 4 bags of chips without the coupon and I just wanted to return the others and keep the bag if chips I originally wanted without the coupon/discount. She indicated I could not return at the register and would need to go to customer service. There were two other attendants around/in the area observing all or part of the transaction and/or issue I described above. I never observed either of them attempt to assist with this issue either. At this point, I decided it was better to just leave, as it didn't seem anyone was capable, willing and/or able to assist with the issue. It seemed to me that the attendant was troubled by the whole issue - possibly resulting from her addled condition - which I do not know if it was her ordinary method of interacting with customers or if she was responding/reacting to some particular situation/circumstance, or even me in particular, etc. I don't think I ever lost my cool nor do I think I was rude. This is just one of the reasons why the big box stores are not always really the better places to shop. They often do not have the personalized feel of a store where the ownership or manager or the employee has a vested interest in high level customer service. I did not experience what I call great customer service and the situation was aggravating for sure. Again - if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me - I will live a great life. Regardless, the point is the lack of ability to provide good customer service and help resolve what should have been a simple issue. Better luck next time and maybe I need to just keep my business at the locally owned and operated Piggly Wiggly on the island. Their customer service has always been fantastic and they seem to know what to do when dealing with customers.
