My dog had issues with his hind legs getting weaker and we brought him in to find out what to do. The vet was exceptionally helpful (Dr. Graeme Shelton) was very good and did an excellent job of helping us deal with our dogs condition. Sadly, after 6 months we had to have our dog put down (both his age and condition necessitated this final situation). The process they have when you have to have a pet euthanized was exceptional and The vet. (Dr.Tara) and the Lead Tech (Samantha) were extremely helpful as we put our dog down. I was most impressed with everyone in the office as we went through this difficult process. Every time I was in the office everyone I dealt with was very helpful, friendly, and kind. I needed to get my cat seen by a vet for an emergency, and my regular vet was short staffed and fully booked. I called around a few local places but apparently it was a very busy week and nobody could fit us in. A couple places recommended I try Park Veterinary Centre before trying an emergency clinic - since they're out in Sherwood Park they are sometimes less busy, and they're open late in the evenings. Happily, I was able to get a 6pm appointment and saw Dr. Emily Dorey, who was lovely and was able to examine my cat and prescribe some painkillers and antibiotics immediately. While I'll be going back to my normal vet for regular treatments, it's great to know this place is a good option for late nights and emergencies. read more

The first time we went to Park Veterinary service we were impresses by how everyone was and the Vets knowledge.I even did their survey saying we were pleased. However our second visit was less than ideal. It was also our last visit there! Due to covid, you have to call when you arrive and they come get your pet. You wait in your vehicle. Anyway, we arrived early for our appointment because we were asked to muzzle our dog and she is not used to wearing one. We called and told the receptionist that we were there and that we were early because we needed a muzzle and wanted to give our girl some time to get used to it. Someone brought out a muzzle and we sat waiting . No one called us and our appointment time came and went. I tried calling a few times but phone was busy. I finally got through and was told I didn't call to check in.. I said I did, I got a muzzle and was waiting. Someone else came on the line and actually argued with me that I should have called again because the receptionist thought we left. Ok, we really were going to drive over an hour into Edmonton, get a muzzle, drive home, turn around and drive back to Edmonton for the appointment and drive home again.??? We called, told her we were there for our appointment so it's on her. The second person arguing with me was so unprofessional and rude. When we got home, we saw that they had called our home phone , but no one called my cell which is also on our file. The vet did see our dog but was less than friendly on her call to talk about things. We will not be back again! I'll spend my money at a vet where I am treated like a valued customer. We spent over a thousand $$ on tests and such in those 2 appointments. No I do not recommend Park Vet! read more

Brought my snake here and the vet gave husbandry instructions very different from what the breeder and scientific papers recommend. Vet was dismissive and rude--did not care to hear anything I had to say. Later discovered she was reading from notes labelled "kingsnakes". Kingsnakes are a group of 45 species that range from southwest Canada to Ecuador--she was giving incorrect husbandry (based on experts and on the species' origin) for the species I brought in, but she wouldn't even discuss the idea that my desert mountain based 3 ft adult size snake was different from a six foot snake in Florida. She was 100% sure she was right and was agressive about it. I felt bullied and very worried about the advice she gave. Will not bring any of my reptiles here again. read more

Last week my rabbit Clover was behaving strangly. As it was early evening, my regular vet was closed. I tried calling an emergency clinic in Edmonton and they recommended that I contact Park as they were likely to have an "exotics" specialist in that night (yes, rabbits are considered "exotic"!) Lucky for me, they did. After describing her symptoms, they recommended I come in right away and guaranteed us an appointment as soon as we were able to get there. When I arrived, they were ready to take her into the back for some oxygen to help her calm down. I ended up sitting in a side room while they checked on Clover in the back. Throughout the night we ended up taking x-rays and doing bloodwork and the vet (Dr. Bousquet) was extremely helpful in explaining the results. While we didn't come out with a diagnosis, they did have a treatment plan for her (she's doing much better now by the way!). Since my visit, they've followed up twice and I'm still expecting a third conversation in a few days. I'm so impressed with my experience at this clinic. If it wasn't for the distance from Edmonton, I'd be more than happy to take my pets here regularly. read more

This vet charges ridiculous fees and you can find the same services, with friendlier staff I might add, at other centres. They tell you that your dogs medicine is 24 cents a mg (yes, 24 cents) and the cheapest thing on our bill was over $15.00. The difference is the dispensing fee they charge for the 4 seconds it took someone to put 3 pills into a bottle with a label. Our dogs knee surgery was done at this center 18 months ago and the price was within reason. But the fees for basic services have now gone through the roof. And I couldn't believe they didn't ask us how the dogs knee is! It was like they'd never seen my dogs before. I felt like a stranger to them. We had concerns 18 months ago when the dogs knee wouldn't fully heal. The vet staff informed us we clearly didn't follow the post-op instructions and then they threatened "if you want to come back in to see a Doctor, you'll have to pay the exam fee." There is no actual CARING about the dogs wellbeing and a desire to ensure my dog wasn't suffering needlessly. read more

My own vet was short a doctor so I took my friend's pup to Park Vet, trying to give a local vet my business. What a mistake! Never again! They put a total stranger's name on the medication, they would not let me change the file name to the owner, they said that they would give me something to 'stop the pup's diarrhea' and only gave antibiotics which may address the underlying problem but do nothing for diarrhea at the time. Then a repeat fecal exam cost $85.00!! Obscene! I phoned Park Vet and complained. I was told that the 'office manager' would call me. That was three days ago and no one has phoned. What really struck me over the many phone calls is how the staff Does Not Listen. read more

A couple years ago I was asked to adopt a Red Eared Slider (Mr. Turtle) and as an animal lover to the MAX I was happy to oblige! With no prior experience with turtles I read everything I could find - and about $2000.00 later turtle has an amazing aquarium with ALL the bells and whistles. Well that takes care of habitat but what about Turtle health?? I called around to find a vet that could do a turtle check up and chose park vet cuz they could get me in that weekend and their price was surprisingly reasonable (I was prepared for some outrageous fees just cuz he's exotic). I walked in for my appointment into a new, comfortable, clean, well decorated lobby and checked in with a friendly, warm receptionist. Once we got into the examining room a few mins later a tech came in to assess Turtle and ask me a bunch of questions about his care and behaviour. She was AWESOME cuz she has sliders too so we chatted about them and she had a few tips for me - it was excellent!! Then we did have to wait about 45mins to an hour for the doc (but she did come in an explain she was dealing with a sensitive issue and would be in ASAP - she apologized for the delay). Now I have to agree wholeheartedly with the previous review and about Dr. Bousquet. She was knowledgeable and attentive and seemed to really check Turtle over carefully. She did a swim test as we had some concerns about him swimming in circles (which can indicate pneumonia - but turns out Turtle's just kooky!) and then we decided to do a blood sample (a little pricey but worth it just to be safe and to have a basis for comparison if anything happens in the future). She gave me some pointers on how to care for Turtle and how to keep his shell healthy (growing turtles shed their `scales` as they grow and can get all flaky and dry). She then printed her report, went over it with me, and sent me and Turtle on our way. About 2 hours later I received a phone call from Dr. Bousquet herself to go over the results of the blood test (which was completely OK). I just could not get over how good I felt after leaving the vets office - and honestly when does that ever happen - I usually feel like I just walked out of a used car dealership! 100% recommend this place for exotic animals and because of my previous experience I would not hesitate to take my cats in for a visit next time they need a check up! read more

This is now my second visit to park veterinary and the staff is so welcoming and pleasant . First visit was for my snake and turtle. The staff was so compassionate and knowledgeable, they were able to answer the million questions i had about my animals and we're very patient with teaching me how to administer the needles. With my second visit i was being a concerned mom about my turtle thinking his cracked shell had gotten worse, they did a full check up and confirmed that nothing was wrong and didn't even charge me for the check up. read more

I have a 6 yr old Boston Terrier, whom I rescued from BARS. Petland on Manning recommended Park Veterinary for my new dog. So far, I am happy with them. The staff is friendly enough, my only "critique" would be have one vet for a dog. Once you start with one Vet, try to have the same vet. Since coming there, Dexter, has seen 3 different vets in their building. Not a huge issue, but would like some stability so they know me and he knows them. read more

I can't even begin to express how compassionate the staff here is. A little over a month ago we had to have our hedgehog Frey put to sleep and I am glad I made the trip here from all the way on the west end of Edmonton. I will never go anywhere else in the future as they helped us through the whole process and gave us as much time as we needed. Very disappointed with Park Veterinary Centre. I have been taking my dog there since he was a puppy, Called in yesterday ( May 10 2021 ) because he had a ear infection that was clearly bothering him. I was told that they did not have any spots available till May 18th. I asked if she thought it was appropriate to leave my dog in discomfort for a week and she simple said " there is nothing we can do, we can't see every animal that has a issue" While I get that, they should have spots available for emergencies. We have been taking our dog to Park for a while now, but today was his final trip there. It was time to help him to the other side, and myself and my family couldn't have had a more comfortable and dignified send off for him. I usually don't do reviews but this wasn't a great first experience with this vet clinic. My puppy had diarrhea and I couldn't get into my usual very. Was so glad park vet fit me in. Got meds and seemed to get better but it came back so dropped off a stool sample to find out he had a puppy stomach parasite. The new meds were great but was recommended to drop off a stool sample to recheck it was gone. No vet visit. $85 dollars later I sit and wait to hear back if its cleared up or not. I called around to find out one clinic charges 25 and another one $40 for a recheck. So not only are they over double the money they still haven't called to say he was clear. I called 3 times just to be told they would remind her to call and give me results. Not a great experience and I wont be back. read more

If you need to take your reptile to a vet, this is THE place in the Edmonton area. Dr. Bousqet saw my bearded dragon twice, and she is knowledgeable and thorough. Unfortunately my beardie had to have most of his tail amputated, but he recovered from the surgery in a matter of days, and is now back to being alert and feisty! I really appreciate that this business takes "exotics" (i.e., any animal that's not a cat or dog) seriously, and that they have the capability to provide full treatment to them, too. There may be an attitude amongst some of the public that exotics such as a reptile are "throw-away" pets compared to a cat or dog, but to some of us, they are valued and special. I am very glad there are veterinarians who feel the same way! read more

I had dealt with these awesome people for 7 years. My cat was a not so nice kitty with her checkups and nail grooming but they always let us know how well she did. They took good care of us and our cat Dakota. The vet noticed her losing weight from her last visit and did blood work to determine that our precious fur baby had kidney disease stage 3 and in the last month cancer from a neck wound that wouldn't heal. There was not much they could do for her and her quality of life because of her kidneys and her age. She was 19 years old and we had a hard decision to put her down. They were so amazing with her and we got to be in the room when they put her to sleep. They were so awesome with letting us pick out things and wanting her paw prints as a memento. That was the hardest thing to do as a pet owner but they made it a tad more bearable. I got as long as I wanted with her after and got her ashes back in 4 days along with my memento's and a week after that I recieved a beautiful card from the staff with their sympathies! Thank you to the staff and I'll never forget your kindness to my fur baby right to the end! read more

We had a bit of an emergency with one of our cats recently, Park Veterinary Centre is not our regular vet clinic, but they are open a bit later than our regular vet, We took our cat in with blood in vomit, lethargic, dehydrated, We saw a vet there, they did blood work, x-rays, they hydrated him under the skin, The vet we saw had suspected Thyroid, did another differant blood test and it came back negative, so $523.00 later, they basically threw there arms up in the air and didn't know what was wrong with him,Told us to come back if he gets worse, Well the next day I went to my regular vet clinic ( Capilano Vet Clinic ) and they cared enough to find out the problem right away, I will never go back to Park Vet Clinic, There all about the money there for sure, they charge an arm and leg for everything, even there pet supplies! read more

I took my dog there after Mills Haven was being less than helpful. At Park, my dog saw a vet about a swollen eye. She told me it was a corneal ulcer and gave me some ointment. The ointment did nothing. She gave me drops. The drops helped with the redness and swelling a bit, but it did not fix the eye completely. She also performed some kind of swab on his third eyelid, without telling me about it. I also think it's pretty shady that they take your pet into the back where you can't see what they are doing. My dog came away from that vet with a clouded eye. I took him to a new vet (Spruce Grove Vet Clinic) and the vet there was way more explanatory and actually interacted with my dog, instead of just walking in, grabbing his face and ruining his eye. The vet informed me that it was not a corneal ulcer, but entropion and he now has to go for surgery to correct this. The swabbing and lack of care from the vet at Park left my dog with untreated entropion that has clouded his eye permanently. So regardless of what you hear in "good" reviews for this place, consider whether or not you're willing to risk having your pet permanently scarred due to their negligence. The only good reviews for this place seem to be for reptiles. So save your pet the pain and you the money, and find an vet that gives a shit. I recommend Spruce Grove Vet Clinic. It's a drive, but at least my dog isn't going completely blind under the care of the ignorant vets at Park. read more

I have taken my high needs cocker spaniel to Dr. Gowenlock a few times now. Each time we have visited with her, she has demonstrated high compassion, skill and knowledge towards our dog. Let me start off by saying that they have been our regular vet clinic for several years and we have always been very happy with the care that our 3 cats and 1 dog have received. However after our last visit I don't think we will be going back and not because of the medical care, but due to the berating that we received over the type of food that we feed our animals. The vet barely took an interest in our dog's injury after she found out that we were feeding him Orijen. She obviously didn't listen when I told that I was just in the process of switching his food because she blamed his being over weight and the tarter on his teeth from the Orijen and never let me explain that he had only been getting a small percentage of this new food for 2 weeks and that his main diet was the food she was trying to push on us. The reason we switched food in the first place was because of the fillers in the food that she recommended and sells. After listening to her blame his weight and tarter on his food it only led me to understand that the food she was pushing on us was to blame. I have also done quite a bit of research into both brands of food; the food the vet is pushing is rated a 2 by dogfoodanalysis.com and has an outstanding class action suit against the company for misrepresentation, while the new food is rated a 6 (the highest rating available). She also stated dog food company rhetoric that dogs are omnivores not carnivores, every university study that I could find disputed this, all you have to do is look at a dogs teeth, they are meant for tearing meat not grinding plants and grains. When she saw that we really didn't care about what she was saying, she resorted to scare tactics and told us our dog could die if we continued to use this brand of food and not hers. I don't mind her recommending a dog food but she was way over the top which makes me wonder how much of a kick back the clinic gets from the dog food company. Any body know a good vet who recommends pet food ingredients instead of specific brands. read more

Went today with a sick but still pretty perky leopard gecko. Was very impressed by the care and spent $200 on the exam and medicine. They gave him a dose in clinic along with a bath. Came home -- went up a few hours later with the nasty gecko feed of ground meal worms etc that they had instructed me to try and feed him and he's dead in his cage. Called to see if I could return the medicines since I hadn't given any of it to him and was told I couldn't. Feel like the medicine may have killed him because he wasn't nearly that sick in the clinic and now I can't return something I didn't even use... Completely unimpressed. read more

This place use to be my regular vet clinic (for like 6-8 years). Until one day (and this actually happened twice), my dog had an emergency and the lady at the counter wouldn't even grab a vet or tech to come confirm if it was an emergency. Instead, she told me they were all 'booked up' and basically turned us away. One of the times, my dog actually ended up having a retro bulbar abscess and was in such excruciating pain (he couldn't eat and hadn't dranken water in a few days, plus I read that this can actually cause the animal to go blind or even cause death). So, to me this was a big emeregency! I explained to them his symptoms, but she still denied us (cause you know they were booked for spay/neuter surgeries.......). Anyways, this made me absolutely lose all respect for them and I will never ever take any of my animals there again or ever recommend anyone to go there. This was my dog's (my best friends), life on the line and they did absolutely nothing! To me, it seems like they are all just about the money and nothing else. There were the exceptions for a few of the veterinarians (I actually really liked them) but after our 2 incidents, all respect was/is gone! read more

A month ago my 12 year old Bichon Shihtzu had a stroke at home. I had only been to this Vet clinic a few times and had felt they were very professional and took great care of my dog.On the day he had a stroke I quickly called the Clinic to tell them I was on my way with Molson as something was wrong with him. The Reception said that my Vet was busy but she would get someone to look at him. The moment I walked in the door my dog was seen by Dr. Michelle Meckelborg. She was very compassionate in giving us the bad news that there was nothing they could do for him. She told us they could maybe do some tests but in the end it would cost alot of money and we still may have to euthanized him because of the severity of the stroke.At that point I thought here is an honest person.She could have racked up a big bill for us. I also called her back a few days later just to talk about his condition again and she was so caring. Also Dr.Rodriguez who was our Vet was very caring and compassionate. We knew our Molson was in good care. The only thing that didn't happen as other people had told me and I also see on these reviews is I didn't received a letter from the clinic expressing their sympathys and compassion. But maybe that is something they don't do anymore. I did receive a card from my old Vet clinic which surprised me. All and all I would recommend this Vet Clinic to anyone looking for a good one. read more

Saturday November 15th my husband took are cat of 17 years named Oliver to the vet because he stopped eating and drinking, the vet decided to do many tests in which my husband agreed they had to give him intravenous for his dehydration and an enema for his constipation. Being a long haired cat they had to shave his neck and shave the hair around he's anal area in order to give the enema. I arrived home from work approximately ten minutes after my husband got home with Oliver they had nicked his neck with the razor and and there was feces stuck all in his fur they didn't even bother to clean him up before they sent him home. I had to bathe him in the tub to get all the feces out of his long fur. No one bothered to call us Sunday to check up on Oliver. The vet had given our Oliver an extra strength pain killer which she said would last 2 to 3 days are cat was so comatose, could barely walk, couldn't eat or drink and could barely even meow he just laid there like he was dying. on Monday night after getting the results of the tests my husband made the decision to put Oliver to sleep we couldn't bare to watch him suffer any longer. I just can't get over the fact sending someone's pet home covered in feces, I am a nurse and would never send a patient home with feces all over them! And yes Jenn M. I agree with you they do charge ridiculous prices. Never again read more
