I cannot recommend Greenbank Vet enough. We have dealt with them for years with our dogs, but today I was truly touched and amazed at the level of commitment they have to the animals as well as the owners. We had puppies born last night and one puppy had serious medical problems where she had to be put down. They had us come in as soon as possible, double checked the puppy and helped me through my grief with respect and sympathy. And yet, we cannot make him stand still on the scale- what a goof. Here you would not feel pressured into medicating/ vaccinating your pet unnecessarily and you would not be judged by the price point of the food you choose to feed your pet with. My yorkshire terrier was in terrible pain and i couldn't figure out what was going on. I took him to Dr. Greenbank found he had injured his back. I was skeptical of canine chiropractic but after 3 treatments he was in far less pain and eventually healed. We go to Greenbank Veterinary Services for all of our cats and dogs and certainly refer them to other people. The staff are upbeat and friendly, clearly animal lovers. I also like that the clinic allows the staff to wear piercings and tattoos :) Last week it was time for my 17 year old little dog to move on. :( My boyfriend booked the appointment for us and they were clear over the phone about what would happen and what to expect. The day of the appointment, we came to the clinic and spent some time outside enjoying the sunny day. When I was ready, we took our little dog to a spacious, clean room and a tech came in and explained the procedure with a kind gentleness. She brought us some chicken treats to feed to Munkydog which he enjoyed very much. The whole procedure was quick and respectful. Greenbank and her staff made sure I had all the time I needed before and afterwards and when I was ready to say goodbye to my Little Friend one last time, I quietly left out out the side door. When Munky's remains come back, they will call me and at that time I will clear up our bill and anything else that wouldn't have been appropriate at that time. I'm thankful for that. I highly recommend both Dr Greenbank who has years of renowned experience. Her office is always full of very fancy looking purebreds - she's clearly a go-to vet for the show dog world. She's a serious woman who takes control of her clinic and tells it straight to her patients. I like that in a veterinarian. Dr Rivas is a delight. Always smiley and seems to have a real love for little dogs (I have two chihuahuas and I think she said she has chihuahuas too) She is thorough in her examinations and always seems to make plenty of time for me to address any questions or concerns I may have - follows up with testing and is sweetly sympathetic. The staff at Greenbank have a great friendly phone demeanor and are very efficient. They greet us with a smile and even usually come around the counter to offer a cookie and a couple pats. The clinic went through a bit of renos recently and looks and smells clean and bright. I will be back - hopefully for just check-up for the next long while. read more

Brought my dog here today for a third opinion (yes, third!) and left feeling incredibly frustrated. My dog has been vomiting dark blood (the digested stuff) on and off for about six months and recently this month she has pooped blood twice too. She was diagnosed and treated for ulcers before but it didn't seem to be curing the problem. So I was recommended to this vet and went in. My dog is also an italian greyhound and I heard they knew greyhounds well. My other vet sent over all the documents, including ultrasounds and x-rays that have been done. When we sat down with Dr. Greenbank, things just seemed to get ridiculous. I'm not opposed to holistic treatments. Not at all, in fact. My second opinion came from the Holistic Vet in Edmonton who I do actually recommend! Anyways, none of my questions or concerns were answered. We also brought in a stool sample from today that was bloody and they never tested it or did anything with it (except take it from us which is annoying since we would have liked to have it back if they weren't going to test it, so we could take it to another vet). Dr. Greenbank then did what she called "voodoo" which involved one of the vet tech girls putting one hand on my dog's leg and one hand up in the air. Then the Dr. would touch things to my dog's back (like sealed chicken breast, or a sealed bag of treats) and push on the girl's arm... Girl's arm pushes down? My dog is allergic to that food. Girl's arm stays firm? She can eat that food. ........WHAT?! Seriously... what?! There is absolutely no way that this could test for that, the food was SEALED. This, to me, would be no different than someone putting their fingers to their temples and dreamily telling me that "I see a future of stomach ulcers for your dog..." It was nonsense. This followed by Dr. Greenbank feeling my dog's belly and telling me she had a hernia and that she was going to perform some chiropractic adjustment to fix it. She rubbed my dog's belly for maybe 3 seconds. When I left after, I saw that they charged me $42 for that "chiropractic adjustment". FORTY-TWO DOLLARS. For a 3-second belly rub that I didn't even say I WANTED. You cannot charge me for a service that you don't tell me about. That is ridiculous. 90% of the appointment was spent with Dr. Greenbank telling us about a special product that you add to the dog's homemade food. It felt more like a sales' pitch than a vet appointment. And I left $110 poorer (because, yes, I have spent over $2000 on my dog in the last couple months) with absolutely NO new information. Dr. Greenbank's advice? Keep my dog on the herb supplement that the vet I saw at the Holistic Vet office prescribed me. So for $110 I got to listen to a sales' pitch, my dog got a 3-second belly rub, and I was told to follow instructions given to me by a DIFFERENT VET. And asked to come back with all the food and treats my dog ever eats so she can test my dog for intolerance with her "voodoo"... This was incredibly frustrating. I can't even believe what went on, and I can't fathom all the good reviews. So unhelpful. Thanks for taking more of my money so easily, even after hearing how much I had already spent on my poor dog. read more

I've known Dr. Greenbank for over 21 years and she has helped me with two of my dogs in that time. Ann is an excellent veterinarian with skills that exceed most I've ever worked with. Her strengths include a desire to do what is best for the animal which includes considering alternative treatments and fewer prescriptions. The clinic is very clean, bright and her staff are all very kind and loving to the animals. I would highly recommend Dr. Ann Greenbank. read more

We have been using Greenbank for 13 years for our 14 year old Australian Shepard. The clinic staff is very cheerful, helpful and as accommodating as they can be. The patient service is always top notch in our opinion, appointments usually can be setup fairly quickly if needed. Both doctors are very good. The front end are nice but I have a hard time understanding why a person becomes a vet when she has a hard time touching animals? I understand I have a large dog but when you refuse to touch him or make him feel more comfortable with a quick pet, makes the whole situation more stressful. My dog gets stressed because it's obvious the vet is stressed being around large dogs. And for the record, my dog is well behaved in a vet environment. I don't remember her name but it is not dr. Greenbank. I heard she's great. It's the other vet with dark hair. It was more expensive than a lot of other places but I got recommended it. I won't be going back. read more

WARNING!! Dr. Greenbank is more interested in Money than she is the comfort of the Animal!!! Need proof?? I had just transferred to Greenbank Veterinary Clinic from another, due to the distance I needed to travel to get my Dog's regular prescriptions. Based on this sites comments, I chose the Greenbank Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Greenbank - the clinic is close to home. My first impression was OK - she seemed nice, knowledgeable and appeared care about the animals . . . Until my dog needed his prescription refilled and Dr.Greenbank outright refused to script what I was asking for - specifically, Meloxicam in tablet form for my 55lb Border Collie. My dog had been on this particular medication for over a year, combined with another, I have been successful in keeping him comfortable - he has been diagnosed with hip displasia and severe arthritis in both rear hips. He is 7 yrs old and considering his breed, not to mention the cost of up to $10K per hip, I am hesitant to do a hip replacement - I just want him to be comfortable and agile enough to go for a daily walk, and maybe play a little. Dr. Greenbank insisted she would only give me Metacam, which she dispenses. "METACAM" IS THE LIQUID FORM OF "MELOXICAM" - made for greater accuracy in dosing SMALL animals. Not a big deal? Well, here is the difference in price: MELOXICAM @ 1/4 tab per day = $0.36/day = $131.40/YEAR (scripted) vs. METACAM @ 2.5 ml per day = $1.94/day = $708.10/YEAR (dispensed by Vet) SO? Money VS Animal? I think it's obvious!! I would NOT recommend this Vet to anyone who loves their pet and cannot afford to excessively fill a vet's wallet!! And for no reason!!! read more

I wish I would have listened and followed up on the reviews I have read regarding this clinic. I specifically chose this clinic because they offered laser surgery for spaying which is supposed to have way less bleeding because of the cauterization and laser. My vet down the road didn't offer laser so I decided to go ahead with Greenbank despite reservations regarding price and reviews. Well, my whopping 580.00 bill turned into 850.00 in a matter of hours (why should I be surprised as this was a complaint made by others) with claims of an excess of bleeding and blood work to confirm there were enough red blood cells, etc. Before "lovers" of this over priced clinic get on the defensive, I am happy that my dog is alright and that what had to be done was done, but it would have been nice for them to say when you drop off your dog that they may have to charge extra for these things. I mean after all, I had to pay 90.00 for a check-up to make sure she was in ideal health to perform the surgery to begin with! I will be honest, I don't know if I trust the integrity of this clinic. I already know the reputation Ann Greenbank has in the Golden Retriever breeding world and I should have also taken this into consideration when deciding whether or not to go here. But since I knew she was not going to be the vet performing the procedure, I decided to take a shot. That decision cost me over 300 more for a simple spaying procedure. If you have a money tree that flourishes in your back yard then I guess you won't have any issues coming here, but I would not recommend this clinic. Very disappointed and frankly slightly disgusted that Ann Greenbank's practice would be so over priced. Her reputation (coming from breeders but mostly people who purchased dogs from her that I have met on dog walks in the river valley and in dog parks) with breeding is that she cares more about the MONEY and not about the animals. Cancer has come up a lot in her litters sadly. Good job Anne, I hope you sleep soundly at night counting every last penny you take from hard working people. read more

I have been going to Ann (Dr Greenbank) for years. She is, without a doubt, the best Vet I have ever had to take my companions to. She is warm, loving, extremely knowledgeable and also offers chiropractic and acupuncture. The staff are also extremely friendly, kind, attentive and all are very comfortable with all large and small pets. I noticed a couple of remarks below that mentioned their fees - you must not have had the opportunity to try many Veterinarians (I have over the years) as she is without a doubt one of the most reasonably priced Veterinarians in the city (sometimes a half OR MORE LESS then others in the city for comparable services such as reexaminations, acupuncture and chiropractic). The only complaint I have is that, due to where i live, it is sometimes hard to get there during the course of the week as Ann also shows her Retrievers and some of her hours (ie not always available on weekends) are a little restrictive for me. Overall, I give her a thumbs up and for anyone living in the area who has easy access you definitely cant go wrong with Ann - SHE IS THE BEST!!!! read more

I have been bringing my cats to this clinic for five years. They are caring and always very helpful. My cats have seen both vets at this office and I recommend both vets equally. Dr Greenbank has done chiropractic work on one of the cats who had a misalignment in her spine probably because she had been kicked by previous owner. I understand from a previous post that Dr. Greenbank does naturopathic work but none of the cats has needed that. I recommend and have recommended this office. read more

Had to have my friend euthanized and it was the worst I have ever encountered. My dog was supposed to go quietly to alleviate his suffering and instead he went knowing pain as they put the needle in the wrong place and forced the fluid into him making him cry and cry. Then had to put in a new needle and redo. It was awful. And not one word or acknowledgement from the clinic or the vet as to being sorry. But they did want to be paid for it read more

Took my Chihuahua here when he was ill. Dr Greenbank misdiagnosed him and the next day we rushed him to the animal hospital. The emergency vets were confused as to the medication that was prescribed. I would not feel comfortable taking my pooch back to her. She was also rather rough with him. He is shy and frightens easily and she rushed to treat him. Take your little buddies to someone else. read more

I took my dog in to have a lump on his side looked at just over a year ago, and I was treated as though my concerns were not important or legitimate. The reception staff was great, but Dr. Greenbank was rude and dismissive with me. She told me that this lump was just a fat deposit and that I had nothing to worry about. When I asked why it was red and seem irritated, she responded by telling me, "I'm the vet here, not you". I felt so belittled for not trusting my vet, so I let it go thinking obviously she's right. The next year when it was time for my dogs annual check up, I decided to go with a different vet, who I also had examine the lump. The new vet has now found that this lump that was previously dismissed by Dr. Greenbank is actually cancerous, and that my dog has more masses inside his belly. We are now going through the process of testing and scheduling him for surgery in the next week. Had Dr. Greenbank genuinely listened to my concerns, this could have been dealt with over a year ago, and maybe his cancer wouldn't have spread. At the very least a little bit of respect would have been nice. Avoid this vet. They do not care about you or your pet, and are only interested in the money in your wallet. read more
