The unit was not cleaned whatsoever, had extensive damage, and a roach infestation. We were given a new unit some hours later and while this one was cleaner it still had an uncomfortable amount of roaches. After telling the leasing office about the roaches they didn't send anyone out forcing us to spend $100's out of pocket to get rid of the roaches. 2. Our car was broken into and the window was smashed. The leasing office told us there was nothing they would do about it, again forcing us to pay $500 to fix the window. This was a constant issue throughout our 15 month lease. There is no security whatsoever or cameras around the complex. 3. 2 weeks after bringing our newborn home from the hospital we noticed mold growing in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, bedroom, and living room. It took them 3 months to send someone out to resolve this after having to tell the office multiple times. All that was done was they painted over the mold and told us we were good. Upon moving out we noticed even more mold in all the same areas that were "treated". 4. Office staff are not friendly nor helpful 5. The trash situation is terrible and the ONE dumpster for the whole complex overflows frequently

!!Beware Before Signing a Lease at The Laurel Apartments!!…read more I chose The Laurel primarily because they provided an in-unit washer and dryer--something I really needed. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. *Leasing Process & Move-In Nightmare* My issues started before I even moved in. Four days before my scheduled move-in date, I still hadn't received my lease. When I called to ask about it, a rude staff member snapped at me and acted like it was a massive inconvenience to resend it. Turns out, she had typed my email address incorrectly in the first place. On move-in day, my apartment was filthy--not remotely in move-in condition. To make things worse, the washer and dryer that were supposed to be included were nowhere to be found. When I brought this up to the staff, they essentially told me to *hire my own cleaning crew* if I wanted a clean apartment. The missing appliances? They were "on back order." I repeatedly asked for them to just move a set from a vacant unit, and my emails were ignored. I almost forgot to mention the AC was broken and it was the dog days of summer. I had to enlist the help of friends to keep calling until somebody would care enough to help. *Deceptive Unit Quality* Unlike other nearby apartments, like Georgetown, The Laurel doesn't make it clear which units have been fully renovated and which were done in a half-assed manner. Trust that a lot of the units, possibly even most units, look nothing like these deceptive pictures. During my tour, I was told that Phase 3 was the newest section and it was strongly implied that it would look like the pictures. That was a huge misrepresentation. My unit was nowhere near that standard. *Ongoing Maintenance Disasters* The nightmare didn't stop after move-in. Here's just a short list of issues I encountered: - Fridge Issues: It had a horrible odor, which maintenance dismissed by saying, "We don't smell anything," and they closed the work order. Spoiler: the stench never went away. Later, the fridge stopped cooling properly, but I only realized it after I lost a fridge full of groceries. Maintenance fixed it--only for it to break again, forcing me to wait yet again for another repair. - Shower Flooding Disaster: Maintenance conducted a routine inspection and tinkered with my showerhead, which I never asked to be fixed. Their "repair" made it spray water all over my bathroom, even damaging the ceiling so badly that chunks of the outdated popcorn texture started peeling off. It took a month for them to fix their own mistake. -Broken Range Hood: The range hood in my kitchen doesn't actually suck in smoke. Maintenance "checked" it by turning it on, hearing the fan, and closing the work order. But it still doesn't work, meaning every time I cook, I have to record a video--just in case the sprinkler system gets triggered and ruins all my belongings. *Final Thoughts* The only concession I received was the leasing special that I should have been given from the start. To this day, I feel like I'm walking on eggshells, waiting for the next thing to break--whether it's my fridge, my shower, or something else entirely. To the property manager: I appreciate the positive interactions we had, and I know some of this is out of your control. That said, it's disappointing that my only compensation for all this pain was the leasing special I should've received all along. And the fact that a cleaning crew wasn't hired after I moved in and told you about the issues--despite you acknowledging that I was wrongly told to clean it myself--is just ridiculous. At the end of the day, The Laurel is simply not worth the headache. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Almost everything in my original review still stands - Debbie was amazing to work with. The complex…read moreis quiet and the layout is spacious. The grounds are well maintained. There are a few things that we didn't notice when we did the move-in inspection that are causing some minor issues now. Like the bedroom screens not being flush at the bottom, and bugs climbing on to the windowsill - which also happens to be right above the bed. Other issues include the toilet and tub not being fully sealed at the floor, and no seal at the wall behind the kitchen counters. Why are these issues? Bugs. Fortunately, there's no infestation BUT when bugs do show up, they can, and do, hide under the toilet or tub or behind the kitchen counter. Whereas maintenance was previously quick to respond, we have a service request for the screen that's been unaddressed for about 2 weeks now. When I asked for a status, I got what felt like a very short response from the office that they were down a maintenance person. I haven't even bothered to open another ticket for the toilet, tub or counters. It would have been nice to have some follow up saying "sorry, we know this has been open a while...", but maybe the office is short-staffed too? There are some small additional fees on my rent that I still don't fully understand but it's nothing outrageous. There have also been some communication issues, and the expectations that were originally set for me weren't quite accurate. Does it make the place a dump? No. I'd still recommend to anyone who asks, but with a word of caution to thoroughly do your move-in inspection so things get addressed right away. I'm typing this review on my patio, overlooking the river. There are worse places to live.

Absolutely Do NOT Live Here - This Place is a Nightmare…read more If I could give this place negative stars, I would. This is the worst living experience I've ever had, and I'm writing this review to warn anyone thinking about moving in here - do not do it. You will regret it the moment you arrive, just like we did. We moved hours away expecting a top-floor unit that we were promised and had been preparing for over a month. When we showed up--with a full U-Haul and signed lease in hand--we were told last minute that we'd be getting a bottom unit instead, and it was this unit or nothing. No options. No apologies. No solutions. The unit we were forced into wasn't even remotely ready. There was a broken window that wasn't fixed for months, the carpet was soaked in dog urine, and the entire place was filthy. We literally couldn't use the living room until two weeks later when they finally replaced the carpet. You'd think they forgot we were even coming--despite having our move-in date for over a month. Since then, it has been one disaster after another: Our unit has flooded over four times. The apartment reeks of mildew. We've had days where it was completely unlivable and not once did they offer any sort of short-term accommodation or help. You're on your own. We have a German roach infestation and Palmetto bugs--yes, huge flying cockroaches. I've had roaches crawl on me and fly into my hair. Pest control only shows up if management actually remembers to inform them, which they often don't. Communication is non-existent. I went over a month with no response to urgent maintenance issues. I had to call off work twice just to go in person and beg for help. When you finally do talk to someone, they either dismiss you completely or gaslight you into thinking you're being unreasonable for wanting basic health and safety standards. The office staff, especially Dawn and Lisa, are incredibly rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. They speak to you like you're a burden and treat your legitimate concerns like an annoyance. It's degrading, frustrating, and beyond unacceptable. We've had to threaten legal action just to get basic issues addressed. You will get no sleep, no peace of mind, and zero support here. They expect you to uphold your end of the lease, while doing absolutely nothing to hold up theirs. Bottom line: DO. NOT. LIVE. HERE. This place will wear you down physically, mentally, and emotionally. You'll be ignored, dismissed, and treated like garbage for daring to ask for help. Save yourself the stress and the heartbreak--steer clear.
