I've waited a while to post this. I lived here for about 6 months of my 12 month least. My downstairs neighbor continuously harassed me while the office did nothing other than tell us that she was reporting us for being loud. We installed security cameras showing she was pounding on her ceiling(our floor) while we were doing nothing but sitting on the couch talking/watching a movie/etc. The office still chose to do nothing until I was forced to move out due to stress and anxiety. read more

I ordered some clothes off of Shein for work over a month ago (March 17 to be exact) and accidentally had it delivered to my old address at district west. It got delivered on March 27 so i went up there personally the next day and explained my situation to the girl in the office. She calls the resident that lives in my old unit and she told her that she was out of town and would be back in a few days and that she would check her mail and get back to them. It's in her mailbox so the property legally can't open it, which i understand. So i was like okay no big deal i can wait a few days. The lady in the office also told me she would go and check to make sure it wasn't left outside of her door and she would let me know. Well she never did that So i waited until Friday (three days later) and i called back up there and spoke with another girl, so i explained my situation to her and i said "I'm just calling to follow up and see if you guys have heard from the resident or if there was any new information" she put me on hold and called the resident twice (i never asked her to reach out to the resident) while I'm on hold the manager picks up the phone and says in the rudest tone "LISTEN, we told you that we would call you when we hear from the resident. There's no reason for you to be constantly calling up here and harassing our residents! THERE ARE NOTES IN THE COMPUTER ABOUT IT. I really don't think the resident would have any reason to lie about letting us know when she's back so you need to stop calling up here". My jaw hit the floor i was so taken aback by this woman's attitude! I had to fight to get a word in but i said "excuse me?? This is the FIRST time i have called and spoke with ANYONE. Secondly i am absolutely NOT harassing ANYONE. I haven't spoken with the resident, i don't even know who the resident is, i never asked YOUR employee to call the resident. I am calling to follow up from when i spoke with someone in person three days ago bc i was told y'all would at least let me know if my package was at her doorstep and no one has done that. I simply asked if there was anything new you guys could tell me." She said "well like i said already there's notes to call you when we here from her". She kept talking but i just said okay and hung up because she was making my blood BOIL. Anyway i waited A WEEK from my in person visit to call back up there because i didn't want to be SCOLDED once again for wanting to pick up MY package. So i called back up there the following Tuesday and spoke with a lady named carina. I said "hi carina I'm just calling to follow up about a package i accidentally had delivered there." She says "is this the one where the resident is out of town" i said yes. She said "yeah we still haven't heard from her." i just said ok thank you. I reached out YET AGAIN March 13 via email explains my situation one again expressing the EXTREME patience i have had with this company & was told that they "spoke with the resident and she will be back the week of the 24th" WELL TODAY IS THE 24TH so i emailed them AGAIN stating that if i do not have my belongings by Friday i will continue with the case i have filed with the police department. Throughout this entire process District West has been everything BUT helpful. I have been made to feel like nothing but a burden which baffles me considering I AM A FORMER RESIDENT. Everyone i have had unfortunate luck of speaking to has been so rude to me EXCEPT Daisha. When it comes to customer service District West is the WORST company to deal with. I hope everyone that is considering moving here takes into consideration how they treat people & look elsewhere. ZERO STARS and the management team needs to be reevaluated because i have NEVER been treated so POORLY by a company in my life. Don't waste your time or your money. read more

The mew management here is absolutely horrible. There has not been a time I've interacted with the property manager, Krystle, that I haven't left infuriated. Krystle is rude and condescending and will often speak over and belittle the residents. The emails that are shared with residents are so passive aggressive it's laughable. Communication is always a concern, important information and notices are sent out at the last minute or not at all. However, the community overall is great! I have lived at District West for almost a year now. I am happy to say I have had a wonderful experience from the beginning and will be renewing my lease with them. The Location is amazing as well as all the amenities they have to offer. Feeling safe was a big factor in my decision to move to DW and I have had no issues in that regard night or day outside/inside I have always felt safe. When I first visited District West I met with Jamy, and I had a million questions, as it was the first place I had ever rented on my own. Jamy was very kind and patient with me and answered all of my questions in person, as well as on the phone and via emails. He was very helpful and never made me feel like I was a bother (even though I most certainly was haha). Whenever I see Jamy he always ask me how I am and we talk and catch up. He is genuine and kind and I can't express how much he has made my experience at DW nothing short of amazing. P.S. Grace and Addison are awesome too! Don't RENT! I needed to move quickly in Aug 2019 and experience was so difficult. I felt like I needed to beg them to rent to me at high price/low square footage yet was on deadline. Pro's: good location. Fast forward: new management - young team and also difficult and incredibly demeaning when I needed to move for job. New Management doesn't either paint walls, clean carpets or have customer service training. read more

I'm flying into town next week and I'll be coming to view the community then I'm really looking forward to it Actually spoke with management about the comments on Yelp, and a lot of them actually seem like they could be "trollers" from other places in the city. Security gate outside our apartment is broken and makes a loud metal clang each time some one enters or leaves. This gate is about 15 feet from our bedroom. I complained in a phone call three weeks ago and still nothing done, claiming a part has to be ordered. This happened before and it took forever to get fixed. Gate is poorly designed and should be replaced. People begin taking their dogs out around 5:30 so it is impossible to sleep. On weekends, many use this entrance till 2 :00 or 3:00 am . Management likes to talk about their excellent customer service. Most people I talk to think that is a joke. Bottom line is I have an apartment that is not usable due to noise and no one seems to care. Complaining not in my nature but I strongly suggest you talk to someone who lives here before you move in. read more

I just renewed for the 2nd year. It's been great, always meeting people at the events and in the gym, pool and meeting rooms. I have 2 dogs and there are a lot of other pets here. I wish they had a dog park but I hear that's coming. Other than that, everything about this place is the best! read more

My sister and her husband live at this community and absolutely love it! I see some negative and quite frankly, nasty, reviews about management... After reading these I asked my sister if this has been her experience in the year she has lived here. She stated that management has always been pleasant to work with and went out of their way to make sure her move in went smoothly. My sister's husband travels a lot so safety is important to her. I see a comment from "Tracey M." about management having "zero concern for resident safety" however, the security within the community is one of the main reasons my sister leased here; There are cameras everywhere and all of the entrances require special access. Seems some statements contradict themselves online, so hopefully those feelings can get resolved soon to better showcase how beautiful the community is! read more

I lived here for a year. The inside of the apartments is nice- granite countertops and new appliances. The layouts make sense and are a good use of space. The residents are very nice, and especially welcoming to dogs. Proximity to the swamp rabbit trail and downtown was a huge plus. However, the management was a nightmare. They constantly heckled us to the point that we thought we would have to get legal counsel just to put an end to the fees and notices. I also had a bike locked to the racks in the bike room that had the lock cut and was stolen. Management offered no help despite having a security camera in front of the room. There are exactly 8 guest spots for ~500 apartments, which leads to evening parking wars in front of the building (quite entertaining if you're not involved). Like everywhere, DW has pros and cons. read more

I hope you take the time to read this review. We moved into District West this January. We were incredibly excited about the amenities and location near downtown. Unfortunately we had an awful experience with management, and interaction with their staff in the leasing office. To sum up a very long story we wanted to buy a home and break the lease. We provided plenty of notice to the leasing staff, and asked the office process of getting out of our lease. We were told we would be able to terminate our lease with paying a fee. It was an exuberant amount (5 months rent), but we came to terms with this fee due to the fact we loved the house and wanted out of the apartment. We were a week before closing and the Property Manager told us that there was an additional $4100 due before we could move out. I was so upset to have this happen. We were told in writing 8 weeks prior the amount due and proceeded with our home closing. Had we known they were going to try and charge us 8 months rent ( almost the amount for the remainder of our lease) we wouldn't of moved out. We had to contact our personal Attorney, a Real Estate Attorney, push back or closing date, write a certified letter to the VP of Flournoy Properties before a resolution came. It was an unethical attempt to prevent us from moving out, or cheap shot at making money. Upper management within Flournoy is the only way to get a situation resolved but at that, it is very hard to reach someone. We have been moved out for a month but wanted to take time to write this review so you can make a wise decision before signing a lease at District West. ( I have written documentation of all this information) Other issues we faced: 1. Amenities - the pool was shut down more than it was open on most weekends. Lack of dog waste trash cans 2. Moving in and out - only have a two hour increment that you must schedule 3. Maintenance issues- many residents with requests being open for months 4. Dangerous parking garage (no mirrors to show cars coming) 5. Key fob reader not working 6. Unpleasant, rude office staff 7. Nasty trash chute rooms 8. Don't dare drop your keys on accident down a trash chute. They will refuse to open the trash room for you and you will lose your keys and good luck finding a tow truck that will fit into the parking garage. A few positive notes: 1. Location 2. Gym 3. Go somewhere else this is a horrible place to live. Amenities are constantly not working. The management is horrible and rude. They have zero concern for resident safety and comfort. The majority here have implied many times over ...management is an issue and you hear all about what you cannot do but nothing at all regarding community. We aren't happy here at all and Greenville is a fantastic place...just look elsewhere for somewhere to reside. Many options available besides here at District West. Check the reviews as the residents post are valid but the construction crew and false postings are not real. I suggest if interested, visit District West and talk to the residents that will he happy to inform you of what is truly offered for the high prices you will pay for while living at District West. Downtown Greenville has much to offer and even new places being built. read more

We love District West. DW is so beautiful and the management team and staff are so friendly and helpful, I have to give them 5 stars. The apartment units are beautiful and different floor plans/sizes are offered. Go to their website and you will see the beautiful amenities including pools, grills, workout room, yoga room, game room and the morning room with coffee. Trash valet and laundry valet service is offered. They also offer storage rooms and bike storage for an extra fee. My husband had just switched jobs, so we were making a quick move from Columbia to Greenville, so we needed to find an apartment to rent while we get to know the area. I just happened to find DW on Yelp. We almost missed it because there was so much construction going on, we thought it wasn't finished. Luckily, we circled one more time and found it. It was just about closing time, but Jamy stay late and showed us the property. We fell in love immediately. The rent is not cheap, but we loved the fact that it was brand new and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The property is non-smoking which is a plus for us. Some tips... (and keep in mind these tips are coming from an empty nester who hasn't lived in an apartment in over 30 years) ...Get a 5th floor apt if you can. We are on the 3rd floor and the person above us walks around all day and all night. I am sure the person below me hears me walking around all day, too. We don't hear the neighbors beside us...just above us. Look at your different options... After we left, we decided to get a larger apartment than we originally looked at, so we assumed it would have a larger balcony. Some apartments have nice big wrap around balconies, however, ours had a small balcony. Get them to move the towel bars to a more functional location before you move in. Ask them the move in rules ... 2 hour windows, mattresses aren't supposed to go in the elevator, so the stairs are the suggested method. Also, be prepared to spend money on room darkening drapes depending upon which side your apartment faces. Again, those are just tips... I highly recommend that you check out District West. FYI, we are empty nesters, but I would say the majority of the residents here are young professionals. read more

I am not a resident of District West but I visit frequently as I have multiple friends that live there. District West is an amazing facility with great amenities. Unfortunately, from my own personal experience (and from what my friends have shared) the management is a major issue. Our friends have had multiple issues with the management, and are so displeased they are considering moving. My friends moved into a brand new apartment that had not been cleaned prior to their move in. Other friends went over their two hour allotted move-in time, and management sent security to harass them. Guest parking is a major issue. They do not have a garage for guest parking as someone else stated in an earlier review. For the entire facility they have approximately ten guest parking spaces. I was parked in a guest parking spot and had a note left on my vehicle by management to move to another spot to accommodate my size vehicle. Nothing was wrong with the space I was in, or the size of my vehicle. Management is constantly nitpicking everything residents do that they do not like. If they can cite you for it, they will. Another set of friends recently had a birthday party and utilized the common room due to the torrential rain outside. The common room is for your use as part of your rental agreement on a first come, first served basis. Management sent the onsite security to the party stating there had been noise complaints and told us we would have to clean up and leave. The party was a mix of young and older adults, not some rowdy college crowd. Our friends were naturally not happy and didn't understand why we had to vacate the common room that clearly no one else was using. Security (who also resides there) proceeded to give our friends a lecture about being selfish thinking they could just come in and take over the area when it is a something you PAY to utilize! He also threatened to arrest guests for trespassing if they did not leave. The cherry on the top of it all was when he made homophobic remarks that were witnessed by three guests. I could go on, but you can see my point. If you want to move into this great facility go ahead, just be warned that the management (one female in particular) will be sitting up in the office watching every move you make on the security cameras, and making your life miserable the entire time! read more
