They steal application fees. I've never heard of a company that takes application fees and KEEPS them if they decline to rent, but this company does. It's theft plain and simple. They hide it in their confusing application. But you won't get back your application fee. They don't have to go through setting up a lease, and running a credit check is to protect themselves. So they are just collecting a $65 fee from the general public for nothing. It's outright theft. read more

beware from a former resident here is why i moved out - the ceiling is so thin that i could hear footsteps from my ceiling, a person walking and worse a tolet flushing one day i got a bag from the display for residents, later that same day, i walked in the rain i reached for another bag of cheetos, lexie told me to put it back, when i told the manager, hannah she said that it was her rule, the denied a vietnam volunteer a tiny pack of cheetos crazy place all this for $ 1500 per month oh yeah, the pool is so noisy with children, i could hear them all day and so crowded i would not use the pool i went to an active community 55 and older and i do love it read more

My boyfriend and I moved into Bell Roper after a terrible experience at another apartment. This place was great! The woman at the desk always knew our names and were so kind. She showed us our exact apartment before move in, and got us in our apt in less than 5 days of viewing. They do a great job. Really good jobs with pest management too. I complained I had a spider and they had a bug guy there the next Monday. Of course with first floor apartments we can hear our upstairs neighbors. It's not terrible. The dog park could be cleaner, and the dog wash could be easier to use but I love this apartment. read more

Use caution before renting here. They will not do a move out walk through with you at the time you leave. Six months later they will report you to a credit bureau without letting you know that you had an outstanding charge or cleaning fee. Also there is a pest control issue at the apartment. We were charged a monthly fee but they never did any pest control. Lastly tree limbs needed to be trimmed and would fall on the cars after every rain. read more

I had a lot of issues with this apartment complex: Terrible communication: I complained a lot about my neighbor upstairs for being very loud after hours. I never got a call back from the office until I finally called and left an outraged voicemail. It seemed like the problem never really was addressed - the tenant above never made any changes. The office center is terrible and they should not advertise it as usable. The computer is very slow, which is honestly expected but the printer does not work. I lived here for almost two years and called many times to complain about the printer not working. IT WAS NEVER FIXED. IN TWO YEARS. IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. They will scam you when you move out: I just recently moved into a new apartment and they slammed me with move out fees. They quadrupled my final water bill, charged me for blinds that I actually replaced just before moving out, and charged me for a "burn" on the shelf that I only ever had copper mugs on. It's a cheap spot to live and in a good location. Those are it's only great attributes. Good luck. read more

BEWARE OF THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY!!! I moved into Bell Roper Mountain while I was still looking for a job. I knew there was a chance that I would find a job outside of the Greenville/Spartanburg area and that I may have to move. As such, I was looking for apartment complexes that either had (1) reasonable buy-out agreements or (2) other properties where I could transfer my lease. Bell Roper Mountain had both of these options....or so I thought. When I visited the apartment, I explained my situation to the office staff. They told me that it would not be a problem because they had several other properties all over the United States, and I could transfer my lease to one of those properties. (They also had a lease buy-out agreement, but it was much more expensive than other companies' buy-out agreements.) After weighing my options, I decided to go with Bell because they had properties in all the other cities where I had job applications pending. If I had to move, I would just transfer my lease. Within a few weeks of moving into my apartment, I ended up getting a job offer in Tennessee. I immediately went to the leasing office to discuss transferring my lease. Then, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME, they told me that I could not transfer my lease until I had lived in the apartment for at least six months. I stress, this is the first time anyone had ever mentioned the 6-month requirement. I combed through every single piece of paper I had from them. It wasn't in the brochure, on the website, OR EVEN IN MY LEASE. I asked them how they expected to hold me to an agreement term that was NOT in my lease, and they told me that it was simply an internal policy. I asked for a copy of the policy, and they told me that they could not give out copies of their internal policies. I asked them why the details of the transfer policy had not been explained when I asked them about their transfer/buy-out options, and they said, "Unless you had asked 'what would happen if I had to move out within a few weeks,' we would not have told you about the 6-month requirement." To add insult to injury, the office staff was extremely rude to me during these discussions. They essentially insinuated that I had no idea what a lease was or that it created a binding agreement between the parties to the lease. (I am an attorney. I understand how a lease works.) I called the corporate regional manager to discuss the situation with her. She told me there was nothing she could do. Although, she was much more polite than the office staff. In the end, I paid the buy-out agreement to get out this horrible company out of my life. I will NEVER recommend any Bell property to any of my friends. I suggest you run far away as fast as you can. read more

Pros: The staff is always friendly and the complex looks great. Cons: I have had a more noisy neighbors live around me than I can count, one in particular. No matter how much you complain to the staff and evidence you provide, they do nothing to resolve the issue. I have been dealing with this problem for 11 months. If I knew I lived above a night club I would have never signed my lease. I provide countless police reports, audio, and videos of the problems here and the staff clearly thinks it is a joke. read more

When we first moved into these apartments in the summer of 2014, we had no complaints. Since then, I can't tell you how many times management has turned over. Don't get attached to anyone in the office because chances are, they'll be gone in 6 months. The communication between the office and tenants isn't great and follow-up is worse. The office is consistently understaffed with the phone ringing, people picking up packages, and current and prospective residents stopping by. When renewing our lease at the beginning of this year, the office said that I changed my last name and told them that we wouldn't be renewing our lease. None of that is true. This caused a huge headache paying our rent and renewing. We have also had maintenance come out to our apartment twice for work requests that we did not submit. (One was for a broken fireplace which our unit doesn't even have.) Then last month they changed their resident portal over to a new host. They sent out information to register on the new site but didn't include the right information that was needed to do so. The residents had to call the office to get the registration codes. That was a whole other issue that had to be straightened out. While none of these problems have caused us to move, the experience could definitely be better. We've seen the decline of the community and couldn't be more ready to leave at the beginning of next year. The new pool furniture is a nice upgrade though. read more

0 out of 10. Wouldn't recommend. This community to me was great when I first moved in, in April 2020. Maintenance is great and a few people in the office are great as well. I've dealt with the issue of noise from the neighbor above me and their pet. It's disturbing, it's startling, I hear it over the tv, my music, when I'm working, and not to mention in 3 months I'll have a newborn. If the noise startles me I know it's going to startle my baby! I've complained twice so far to Hannah Lockhart, the community manager. Nothing has been done either times and no actions have been taken towards the neighbor. The noise of the pet is continuous. All morning, all day and all night. The only thing I got from Hannah was "because it's a pet friendly neighborhood there's likely little that we can do. We want the pet to be able to enjoy the apartment home. You can try to speak with them yourself". But at what cost? I'm supposed to not enjoy my home as well? Peacefully? And just deal with this continuous noise 24/7? Rent is too high to not be able to enjoy my space! Then Hannah offers me a transfer to a 3rd floor home. (Currently on the 1st floor). Why would I move when I'm not the problem??? I'm big and pregnant and all my stuff is here and has been here for over a year, if she thought I would accept that knowing I'll have a newborn soon then she's out of her mind. Don't even get me started about how my boyfriend was treated out here by her, he lives in this community as well. Currently waiting on a call back from her supervisor. All in all... don't move out here. read more

We moved into these apartments for the summer. My wife is an ER nurse, and she was doing travel nursing at the time. They offered a three month lease which is why we chose this place. Also they have a huge pool.... but the service was horrible! I walked into the main office one day in work clothes and the woman at the desk glared at me and I felt like she was treating me like a bum or something. Okay, one time, no problem... but then, we extended our stay for a month, and payed rent (they collect rent online through bell apartments) the full amount, several days before it was due. I left to go to Hendersonville, NC for a week long business trip and I received a phone call from my wife, she was hysterical. They had posted an EVICTION NOTICE on our door!!!!! We had paid rent in full! They didn't call, they said that we owed $600 more or they would evict us! I explained to my wife that they couldn't do that and we were moving out three weeks before they could legally evict us, so not to worry. It then took me the whole week of calling person after person until I worked out the problem. It turns out, the error was on Roper Mountain Apts end and not ours. I later looked up the laws, and between my interaction with the local apartment managers, they broke several laws and I could have opened a lawsuit against them and won. Then after we worked things out... they had the audacity to send me a bill for cleaning the apartment! I had a video showing how we left the place in spotless shape so that ended that. I don't think this is a problem with Bell, I think it is a problem with the local administration. read more

I moved to Greenville earlier this year having been unable to visit the apartment complex before moving in. The officer staff (Jamie) was super helpful in explaining the apartment and community to me and working me through the application process. I moved in and absolutely love my apartment. The community is clean and quiet. Any time I have had to have a light bulb replaced or a question about maintenance the staff has been immediate and extremely helpful. This is a great community and it's worth you checking it out and residing here if you're moving to GVL or looking for a new place. read more

I live in this complex. It used to be very nice. However, in the last year it has changed dramatically, for the worse. I hate to give a bad review as I still live here, but I'm getting out soon. The problem: In the last year or so the quality of renter here has drastically changed. It's not uncommon to be woken at night by people fighting, yelling or blasting music in the parking lot. They allow dogs, which is fine, but recently there are pit bulls added to the mix. The office workers don't seem to have any handle on which type of dogs get in. You may love the furry little guys, but I don't. As they say, it's the owners that are the problem with these dogs! I just don't trust the owners. If you do come in, don't get an apartment in the back, it's bad there. People screaming at each other, cops being called at a rate I've never seen here. The parking all the sudden is very limited, which is a problem if you have to park far away and walk to your unit at night. I would think for women, this could be a scary experience. I was joking with a friend recently when arriving home near 12:30AM on a recent night about the turn into the complex. I joked that we would probably see some sketchy people loitering about the parking lot. Sure enough, when I got here, there were two women screaming at each other. They were parked in the middle of the road their car doors open. I couldn't get past and they could have cared less. I'm getting out soon, I suggest you don't come in. Again, I hate to give this review. It's always been extremely nice here, but not any longer. It's more like low rent housing, which I don't understand as it's very expensive. The office workers have always been very nice as well. This is no reflection on them as they are very good. Also, the maintenance has been fantastic. read more
