    Beach!
    I.A R.

First time in Cancun and over the Riviera Maya, we decided to stay in the hotel zone. This resort's location was great, not too far from the airport and close to downtown. Employees were always very attentive and polite. The rooms were okay; we had everything we needed, and the ocean view was just amazing. I spent a lot of time on my balcony. The food was really good. The buffet had pretty much everything: salads, seafood, chicken, meat, and desserts. The taco stand next to the buffet was really good--delicious tacos that I enjoyed eating by the pool. The beach was very pretty. The only thing that wasn't the resort's fault is that we were there during Hurricane Beryl, and the ocean was very wavy for my taste and stayed that way the entire time I was there. That is why I gave four stars, because my parents' room got flooded twice during the hurricane. The resort really needs to resolve this issue since it is very uncomfortable. My parents stayed in the building in front of the main pool; I stayed in the building close to the Italian restaurant and didn't have that problem. We really enjoyed the à la carte restaurants, with the exception of the Italian one. The chefs need to improve their pasta skills. Overall, the experience was very good and relaxing. We are coming back for sure. Cancun is very fun and enjoyable; hopefully, we will have better weather next time.

Stayed here Sun-Thursday (in August) and used booking.com for the reservation. We arrived to the hotel around 12pm and upon walking in we were offered cold towels and champagne (or any drink you'd like from the bar). Check in process was ok but arriving early the lady told us she'd have a room for us in 1 hour and it ended up taking 3 hours aka normal 3pm check in time. We requested double beds which she said they had available but then entering our room it was a single bed handicap room with a swim up pool (room 3001). Room has a mini fridge stocked with beer, water, soda and coffee. I went back to the desk to ask about the double beds and she said it would be another hour (4pm) and we were exhausted so we just kept what we had. Food is ok. Just ok. There are 3 free restaurants (Oriental, Italian and Seafood) , 1 paid steakhouse and 1 main buffet. There's also a pizza bar by the pool and coffee/ice cream parlor, and a snack bar (burgers, hot dogs, nachos) by day/ and taco bar (7pm and on). You're allowed room service once a day for free and after that it's an additional cost. At the Oriental restaurant they will automatically seat you for regular dining unless you specifically request that you want to do hibachi. There are only two hibachi tables that seat 10 each so expect to wait. 4 bars. 1 at each pool, 1 rooftop and the main bar inside. Latest one is open until 1am. There's also a juice bar by the infinity pool. The drinks were good but you have to request the brand of alcohol you want. I'm a tequila drinker so I always asked for Don Julio which they kind of had tucked away. If you don't specify they'll just give you the cheap stuff. Not necessary but bring your own cup and they'll refill it for you no problem. Ex. I ordered 32 oz insulated Bubba cups from amazon for $10 And it was so much better than going to get their tiny little plastic cups each time. Staff is all super nice and the resort is up kept and very clean. There's Expedia and other excursion booking opportunities onsite as well as a Hertz rental car desk. There's also a small gift shop and jewelry store. If you leave the resort the local bus is 12 pesos or $1 US. There are malls, restaurants a grocery store, Walmart etc. Tip...please tip. A dollar or 2 per meal/drink goes along way and they do work really hard. For the price we paid we overall had a really good time.

I really didn't know what to expect on our second trip to Cancun. We previously stayed at a resort in the Riviera Maya area which was more desolate than the typical touristy area in Cancun. This one, Grand Park Royal, is in the "downtown" Cancun area - which like I mentioned is very touristy. The area is resort after resort and there is lots of local, as well as chain shopping and eats within walking distance (if you want to venture off your resort). We stayed in a Royal Tower Jacuzzi Suite which I recommend (request 2nd floor or above, middle building for amazing views). Our suite was spacious with a king bed, couch and chair, large bathroom and shower, large balcony with complete glass sliders, and of course the good sized jacuzzi tub. Our room also came with a butler that you can ask to help you with pretty much anything. Yomeli was ours and he was wonderful. He made all of our dinner reservations, arranged our Covid tests, and even did things like helped me look for SPF 100 around downtown Cancun (which is not a thing, in case you were wondering). For food, there are three included sit down restaurants, one buffet, a cafe/coffee shop, and a snack bar that turns into a taco spot at night. Two of the three sit-down spots are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The sit-downs have actual names but are more commonly referred to as the Mexican, Italian, and Chinese restaurant. The Chinese restaurant also has a hibachi option which is included but has to be specifically requested. I enjoyed the food everywhere and for the most part thought everything was really good! The nightly taco spot is great for a quick dinner and the tacos are delicious - not kidding, the guys at ten (10) tacos each and the girls all had five (5)! The buffet was okay the one time we went in the evening, BUT we went every morning for breakfast because I loved the options and variety. The cafe serves until 12am and almost always has coffee, ice cream, and pastries - there is also cold grab-and-go sandwiches during the day. For drinks, there is a swim up bar at the adult pool, an indoor bar/lounge off the lobby, and a rooftop bar/lounge. Obviously the swim up was great during the day at the pool, but the rooftop area was our vibe in the evening after dinner. Drinks were good - we ordered lots of frozen options at the pool and many mai tai, mojitos, or margs in the evening. The resort sits on a beautiful beach and there is plenty of space from the resort buildings to the water (they also have multiple cabanas on the beach!). The sand is fine, white and the ocean water is the most beautiful blue. The resort is also located right on a city bus stop if you decide to venture. We took the bus to Market 28 and to the ferry to Isla Mujeres (unrelated but highly recommend a day here). I am getting sad typing this because it is over! So that should tell you a lot. We would recommend this resort and possibly even go back - we for sure would visit another Grand Park Royal location. I know it is really hard to find info on these places when you are booking, feel free to DM me and I am happy to answer questions. Happy Traveling!

The adults only suite. Well most of the time. That's fine.

Located in the middle of The Hotel Zone, 30 minuets from the Cancun Aeropuerto. First impressions (arrival): very clean, very friendly staff, easy access to places inside the property. Asked for an upgrade to the adult only side. Received 3 Jr Suites for $1260 more for the entire 8-day/7-night stay. EXCELLENT in all manner: ocean view, Butler, private entry from the private restaurant, all day staff service, & on. Writing all this at the end of Day Three so not done with the trip. But it's all 5-Star so far. More to come.

R&R in a great resort! We had A wonderful experience at this resort. Check in was fast. Our room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The buffet had everything we needed for breakfast lunch and dinner. The extra restaurants were good as well. The drinks kept coming. Our pool waitress remembered us and knew what we needed. You can customize your drink with a specific liquor. I never had a problem getting a lounge chair at the beach or the pool. Both pools were big and clean. They had waiter service at the pool and sometimes at the beach. The staff members were super nice. My only complaint is that they need to have water more readily available.

THIS IS NOT A 4-STAR HOTEL. This is 3 stars, at best. If we'd known what to actually expect, we wouldn't have booked this hotel. PROS: Kids club! Hard working and friendly staff. Very clean grounds. Roof top bar. Beach was very wide and clean. Birthday treats/balloons (after I reminded them it was my birthday) Taco bar, Oriental restaurant and breakfasts in the Italian restaurant. NEUTRAL: Food. Resort food in Cancun is very mediocre overall. This hotel's options were tastier than most but not very plentiful. CONS: VIP checkin: Where? When? Unless I missed it, there was nothing special done or offered to us. No drinks offered or hot towel, just your standard check in at the desk. We've had VIP checkin at other hotels in Cancun, this was not comparable at all. Vacation club: Super hard sell. 30mins spiel immediately after check-in in the guise of a hotel tour. Upgraded room to "premier room" ($40 USD per day). Not impressed. Old furniture (room 1304) with rock hard beds, stiff sheets and a remote with no volume control. Howling wind all day/night from sliding doors. Limited mini bar and room service options. Stone paths: hard to walk in sandals. VIP excursion "credit": not applicable on all excursions, and of course on none we were interested in. Shows: Mediocre. Hard working entertainers but cheap production and small, stuffy theater. Size: The resort seemed large in photos but it's actually not very big. Pool: No designated kids pool area so the jacuzzi became the alternative. Chairs are snatched up very early, per usual at any resort.

9/10-17/2016 - Absolutely loved this place for my birthday vacation plus we were her for El Dia de La Independencia de Mexico. They had a car waiting for us at the airport ready to take us to the resort. Upon check in we were greeted by the staff who took our luggage into the check in area. Because we came in as members, they have a member center to check in. Karla was our host and she gave us all the information regarding the hotel, restaurants, amenities, and excursions. We went to our Villa overlooking the ocean while our bags arrived. We had the Junior Suite and it was as spacious as my entire apartment. The mini bar is completely stocked with waters, sodas and Dos Equis Beer. We decided to have dinner at the Cocay restaurant, (buffet only). What a spread. Every night is a different cuisine. Mexican, Italian, Seafood or TexMex. The food was delicious, they have the buffet as well as food prep stations. They have 2 huge pools, one is the "fun" pool with games they do all day. This is more of a family pool. They have a bar adjacent to the pool. The other pool more "relaxed" and it is an infinity pool with a bar inside the pool. There are nice seating areas, chairs and gazebos to lay down. This was my favorite pool. The gym facilities were amazing, all state of the art equipment. We went to the gym at least 3 times during our stay. After the gym, we went to El Mirador restaurant right above for a la carte breakfast. This was my favorite restaurant as they offered healthier options and their food was cooked to order, very fresh. For dinner, this is their Italian restaurant. I had gnocchi here but was not impressed. We also went to La Concha for lunch, their seafood restaurant. They have fresh ceviche and fresh white fish at their small buffet but it is a la carte as well. We also dined here but it is Mexican at night. The last restaurant we went to for dinner was El Oriental. This restaurant is 3 stories and it is very beautiful and romantic. We sat on the second floor. The third floor has a coy pond. They serve a mix of Chinese, Japanese and food from Thailand. For snacks while the restaurants are closed they have 2 options, wood fire pizza and hamburger & hotdogs by the pool area. Both are very good. One of our favorite spots to go to was the Cafe, upstairs by the lobby area. They serve specialty coffees, sandwiches, fruits in to go boxes, mini cupcakes, cookies and donuts. Also, they have gelato. YUMMY! We hit this place at least twice a day. I used their members business area to do some work during the day. They have waters, sodas and Nespresso coffee. Overall, I would love to come back here. The service was TOP NOTCH at all times. The people were incredible, helpful, courteous, friendly. etc...I can't say enough. And I must say this place is so CLEAN. We saw so many cleaning staff just working hard to make everything shine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Viva Mexico!

Not sure who this place paid for the 4.7 stars, but this place is terrible at best. The dinner buffet is cold. You need a reservation for the three restaurants. The Italian place is the best one. Oriental was meh and the Mexican was ok. I'm laying by the pool contemplating ordering on Uber eats, which imo says all you need to know about the food here. Most employees have a attitude & they all linger waiting for a tip after they had a attitude. My butler, Jessica has been the only bright spot with her wanting to help as best to her abilities. My bed sheets were stained upon arrival with what I hope was makeup. Be prepared to be hounded every time you walk out of your room about the time share presentation. Hot tub hasn't worked the week I've been here and reading a review from a month and even two months ago it wasn't working then either. Rooms are outdated and smell like mold. Bed is hard as a rock. Sheets were dirty the first night we got here. Again not sure how they have such a "high" rating. Due to the lack of luxury I can cross this brand off any future trip. Please save your money and DO NOT stay here.

Really nice location. We enjoyed our stay here for a week in April. Weather was beautiful. We got a free upgrade to ocean front room in the adult only tower. The food was just ok. I expected more for a 4 star resort. Drinks were basic. Nothing fancy. The people that work here though, phenomenal. Their service made me feel at home.

We had a wonderful time in Cancun, the service an beautiful resort room was amazing

What a beautiful resort can't wait to come back, an the service was great we couldn't wait to wake up every morning to see the beautiful sunrise from our window

OMG! I booked a room for the week of June 2018. I arrived to the hotel with my boyfriend literally at about 530am. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready which is understandable I mean who checks out at that time. Anyway the staff was kind enough to give us our all inclusive bracelets to be able to start receiving services the hotel provides and told us they would do their best to give us a room once it was ready to go. We got our room at around 9am which more than we can ask for hence our check in was originally at 3pm. During which we went to the beach and saw the sunrise. We also had a buffet style breakfast which opens at 7am. I really liked our stay at this resort. The staff was super friendly, the beach isn't full of people, the pool side wasn't full either and both were clean. The buffet style breakfast and lunch room was a decent size and they offer a variety of foods. The resort is also located in the hotel zone which is easy to navigate from if you take a taxi or the bus (the stop is right infront of the hotel). We were able to see two rooms. Our original booked room was for an ocean side view. We got a room that was at the edge and you were still able to see the beach. This room was like a kind of small. Once you walk in the bathroom was to your left. On the right side was the safe and the mini fridge. Once you pass that was the bed and dresser. There was a TV and a chair and small desk. Then the doors to the view. Our second room was due to an upgrade. We upgraded because of the jacuzzi if I'm being honest. The other room would have been okay. Our second room was much much bigger. It had a better shower and bathroom area. The jacuzzi was a decent size for two people. The bed was about the same size and the living room was bigger. The ocean view is literally infront of your room and they assigned us a butler. We never saw or bugged him since we were in and out. But while we were in our room, I enjoyed the ocean view. All in all I would definitely book at this resort again!

The rooms are infested with bed bugs, fleas, tics... There are leaks throughout the hotel and when they receive too many complaints the entire section is closed off! Some from desk staff can be rude, especially 'Ana'. Restaurant and bar staff is great, entertainment crew by pool and in evening shows are amazing. All food was delicious too!

Beautiful view of the gulf. All rooms if not most have a view like this.

Overall very nice stay but drinks were awful. Everything else was great. Very easy checking in and getting room ready. Room service was top notch.

We did our homework before our trip and saw Zilara Cancun had good/decent reviews about their food. Let me tell you, this is probably the best food I've had in a long long time. Top dishes for me are the octopus with mole and lobster tostada from Maria Marie. If you like/can eat seafood, trust me on this. The drinks are phenomenal as well. There are signature drinks at all the restaurants. Those are mostly hits but some are misses (depends on your taste buds) PRO TIP: sign up for alcohol tastings at The Den first day you get there. We did tequila and wine tasting. It was quite a unique experience. SERVICE I've never gotten treated like this in any hotel I've been at. Chef's kiss for sure. The bellhop/front desk usually can break your 20s/100s into 1s so don't feel the need to exchange pesos (unless you want to of course). The workers at the hotel (and around Cancun overall) takes USD PRO TIP: there are a lot of activities hosted by the hotel. Morning exercise classes are really fun and the night shows are just okay. The crowd is definitely on the older side that just want to come to Cancun and chill not party. From hearing the reviews, Zilara had the most amount of activities from various first hand reviews from our friends All in all, solid resort. You won't regret it!

FOOD- I overall liked the food. I wish they would have advertised/told us the buffet had different theme dinners. They were our favorite for dinner. There were good dishes at each, but nothing phenomenal. I really liked the lunches they had set up by the pool. It was overall good and on par with my expectations for an all inclusive. BEACH- this is honestly one of the highlights. The resort had one of the best beaches and ability to get in the ocean. If you want to get in the ocean, this is the spot. SERVICE - this was the most disappointing. At Excellence you cannot breathe without someone asking if you need something. It took a long time for people to check on us and we tip well. Day 4 we finally found Humberto who was THE BEST! Find him and tip him well. ROOMS- they were good and I was happy with them! POOLS- the pools were fine. A little shaded. The most annoying part was the cabana situation. Some are free, some are always paid, and some are paid on certain days. I get up at like 6AM every day anyways so I got good cabanas but if you're not an early riser you're screwed. Overall, I'd return!!

The food was another highlight. With multiple onsite restaurants. Vina del Mar was perfect for starting the day- it serves breakfast lunch and dinner and offers mexican and international cuisine . Outdoor sitting was beautiful. All other restaurants would need reservations- and we tried Chianti Trattoria Italiana - serving Italian cuisine and had elegant atmosphere. La Joya- serving authentic Mexican cuisine with incredible presentation. With its prime beachfront location, relaxing pools, outstanding dining options, and exceptional service, Grand Fiesta Americana Cancun delivers a truly luxurious experience. I would absolutely recommend this resort and would love to stay here again.

We also enjoyed live entertainment and a night club on the property, yet it remained wonderfully quiet when we wanted to relax. We loved the aromatherapy --it was such a thoughtful touch. The location is very convenient: close to a pharmacy, just across the street from a shopping mall with a mix of upscale and casual dining and shops, and only 10-15 minutes from Cancun's vibrant club zone. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our luggage was immediately checked in and we were able to check in even arriving early around 11 am. Our particular room was ready and we checked and our luggage was promptly dropped off. We stayed in an oceanfront room which had a beautiful view with a seating area inside and on the balcony. The room and bathroom were very clean and well stocked. I like the aromatherapy touch in the resort and in our rooms being able to choose which scent you wanted was very nice. I loved the separation of the toilet and shower by a wall and doors for privacy when using either. The water pressure and water temperature in the shower was great although there was some water draining from the shower during use. We would generally put a foot towel down to contain the water. The room was serviced twice daily so we were never without towels, etc. I also utilized the laundry service which was reasonably priced for three pieces of clothing and it was returned the next day. The staff was generally very courteous and helpful (we only had one less than courteous experience with a waiter at the Hidden Garden on our last evening). The food at the restaurants and by the beach and pool area was great - I cannot say enough about the fresh fruit and the grilled ribs and chicken so well seasoned and cooked with flavor. We ate daily in Siete for breakfast (the smoothie station you will need to go to first because it fills up because the smoothies are sooo good). We also dined at Hidden Garden where I enjoyed Indian cuisine which was delicious (but a small portion). All inclusive so it was nice not having to continually carry payment and only the gratuity needed for the staff. The last two mornings of our stay there appeared to be construction in the room next door or our floor which was disturbing - we did alert the front desk staff and it would generally stop around a certain time. Getting beds and chairs at the beach was generally easy but for the pool it was the hunger games usually having to place towels or bags on chairs early to 'reserve' them (there are no reservations for chairs only for the larger cabanas for an additional fee) We also experienced the spa which was amazing. Highly recommend visiting during your stay. The spa ritual is so relaxing and the couples massage in a combined room was great. Would definitely stay again. $$$

Besides the price (extra $127/night for a toddler), we had a wonderful experience - the food (both quality and variety), the well-kepted grounds, the amenities (Kid's Club, gym, pools) and the service are all top-notch. Food: there are food available from 6AM to 11PM. Some places I visited multiple times are: The cafe (opens from 6AM to 11PM) - coffee, tea and Frappe available all day. I usually stopped by after the gym (yoga near the beach at 7AM) to grab a iced latte and freshly baked pastires (dulce de leches cruffin is my favorite). Habaneros (opens from 12-6PM) - this is a casual spot serving tacos and ceviche on the beach. Even my toddler enjoyed the mixed ceviche with octupus. I enjoyed the ceviche, salmon toastada, and octopus tacos, while my toddler playyed with sand on the beach next to the table. Moongate (opens after 5PM) - the only restaurant that requires reservation, but for Teppanyaki ONLY. We were able to make a reservation for 5PM about 3 days in advance. The Teppanyaki chefs are all super energetic and made the experience fun for both kids and adults. We went back for dinner, and enjoyed some Asian Fusion dinner of ramen and sushi/rolls. My favorites include Short-rib, Teriyaki Salmon and the Omakase Nigiri. Trade Winds (opens for breakfast and dinner) - best steak in the resort. Last but not least, it took me 3 days to find my non-alcoholic drink of choice - strawberry mojito. I'm not a fan of the pina colada here, just FYI. One thing I don't like is the dolphins in captivity. I know it's a major attraction of the resort, and my kids honestly enjoyed watching the dolphins swim around and being trained. But it still makes me sad to see them contained in such a limited area.

It comes with its own food/drink service (although sometimes we didn't see them for long stretches of time). You also get a free 5 minute facial for two people and two complimentary coconuts. Highly recommend because the bench chairs get taken up early in the day with people who simply put towels on them and walk away. The views here are amazing. The water is warm and blue. Everything I learned about cancun was real lol. I'd definitely come back here again in the future!

Unfortunately, for the past two years, our experiences have declined significantly. The hotel no longer maintains the level of service and standards we once loved. The atmosphere feels different, the staff are not as welcoming, and there is a noticeable lack of attentiveness and care. During this stay, we had a particularly unpleasant two-day experience at the beach regarding the setup of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rather than going into every detail, I will simply say the situation was handled poorly and left us very disappointed. What was most upsetting was that no meaningful effort was made to resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. Even after speaking with Guest Relations, who mentioned contacting the General Manager, nothing improved the following day. No accommodation or gesture was offered, which was surprising given the hotel's luxury positioning. It is also noticeable that the property feels quite empty during weekdays, except on special occasions or long weekends. Even then, the warmth and hospitality we once associated with this hotel seem to be missing. That said, I want to sincerely recognize Valenzo, who served us daily. He was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, he would notice small details, like refilling ice before we even realized it was melting. His service was outstanding and he truly tried to make our stay better. Thank you, Valenzo. You made a difference. It is genuinely sad to see a place that once meant so much to us lose its standard. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in retraining staff to restore the level of service this property was once known for.

We visited there one evening and have the best time and service! This isn't the same restaurant where you go to breakfast but at night is a Spanish tapas restaurant. Everything was fantastic but all the food on the property is really great! We especially loved to order lunch by the pool. All the cocktails are fantastic, even poolside! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and were looking forward to a relaxing vacation. We arrived early, 7:30AM and our private transportation picked us up after about 15-20 minutes after arriving. After a quick drive to the resort, we checked in. No welcome towel service nor welcome drink, but we received a warm neck wrap. Unfortunately, our room wasn't ready until 11:30AM, so we walked around to explore the property and have breakfast. We received a text message from the lobby that our room was ready and to return to the front desk. We were told our room number and that our luggage would be delivered shortly. The room had a beautiful view of the ocean, clean, stocked with snacks and drinks ,and over all nice. We unpacked ourselves and headed to the pool. While we were on the way, we met our butler who's desk is located in the hallway of the elevators. At that time we were connected to a WhatsApp group text. Then we returned to our room with our butler, who reviewed the amenities and light switches in our room. We ate at all the restaurants. We went to Blanc and Terraza for breakfast and our 2 favorite restaurants for dinner were Bella and Yama. Unfortunately, on a few occasions, Terraza and Yama served us cold food, as if they were sitting out too long. We tried scheduling room service breakfast and they were behind in schedule 30-40 minutes. We were underwhelmed as the room service menu as it wasn't as grand as the other palace resorts; we were looking forward to the chocolate cake; which wasn't available. The K'akau, coffee shop was the best to relieve our chocolate cravings. The main pool lounge chairs were always taken, so get there early. We relaxed at all the pools and depending on the day had our favorite. The beach is beautiful and the lifeguard at the tower was always welcoming and helpful to get us lounge chairs. The spa services and hydrotherapy were wonderful, but we were disappointed that the men and women were separated in the pool and jacuzzi areas. We ran into difficulties with our dinner and spa bookings. We made prior arrangements with our pre-concierge, but when we wanted to change our schedule, the on site concierge didn't have access to canceling them. We were told to email our pre-concierge to ask her to delete them from the system. Our pre-concierge also didn't confirm our restaurant bookings for certain days and so we had to ask our Butler if they were booked. What was the most disappointing was the evening entertainment. We were looking forward to certain shows/performances and then a few hours before the scheduled time, seeing the entertainment was removed and replaced with something mundane. We've been to Sun Palace, another adult only resort, down the road and after our experience at Le Blanc, we actually prefer Sun Palace over Le Blanc. From our experience.. Le Blanc is a great place if you enjoy the spa, peace and quiet, and want to just chill and lounge. But if you want a little more excitement, fun, music, and meet people and have great conversations, Sun Palace is the place. Our Butler, Rene on the 3rd floor was awesome. He made our anniversary special. Safety: We felt safe. When we arrived at the resort after walking down the hotel zone, security always checked us in. When we arrived via taxi or uber, they did the same thing. If you walked out to the beach, you have to scan your bracelet to exit the gate and also scan it the when you enter back onto the resort property. Elevators: There are 3 elevators and during our stay, 1 was always out of order. One day, 2 elevators were out of order. Luckily, we were only on the 3rd floor, so we often took the stairs. The stairwell does need more lighting, it is dark, so watch your step.

Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. The staff was very friendly and tried to help with our request. The room was a junior suite with an ocean view. It was comfortable and our room attendant did a great job. The king bed was two beds pushed together, but with some magic by the wife we made it more like one and were very comfortable. You can get a single king bed in some of the rooms. We were there with friends and didn't want be separated so we stayed with that configuration. I would try and get a room on the west wing. It actually looks to the east and you don't get the extreme heat in the late afternoon that the east wing does. We ate at all of the restaurants and our favs were the Black and White Steak house and Krystal. The Italian restaurant off of the lobby was good for a quick slice of pizza at lunch time. The buffet is like it is on a cruise ship and was good for most of our breakfast seatings. After a few days gets a little old. The staff was super friendly and hard workers. There is a 24 hour refreshment spot, but the food is only so so. Just for a quick sandwich or fruit. They do have a beer tap and a few selections of liquor available there for self service as well. The pool and beach area had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. If you don't see any available just ask and they will make it happen if possible. My complaint about the pool would be they close at 7:00. One small pool stay open until 8:00. Way too early for an adult only. I suggest if you want to do excursions to go straight across the street to one of the stands. If you know what you want to do they are a much better deal, but be certain you know where you want to go. make sure and get transportation included in your excursion. Also in that area there is the Bamboo Spa. You can get a massage for less than half at the resort spa. They did a very good job and were very professional. Not a "happy endings" type of place. Tell them you will do the massage if they throw in the fish foot treatment. Sounds weird but it was pretty nice. This is all inclusive for food and drink. The drinks are pretty light and when you ask for something other than the house liquor I'm pretty sure it didn't happen all the time. The best is to ask for the drink with a shot on the side, or better yet go to the bar yourself and watch them make the drink. It was definitely better and i was assured to get the name brand. Over all I would recommend this RIU.

Our friends got the Jr Suite rooms and their rooms were equally just as nice (in case you are looking to save money, no matter what, get that frontal sea view room!!!!) The hotel is a palace and we were able to explore other hotels around (Caribe night party was super fun! And the Cancún next door was more lively at night and had better social life!) The staff were super friendly and made sure our cups were ALWAYS full and we were happy!! It's also NO KIDS, so you never had to worry about crying babies or kids running over your stuff at the pool/beach! The food: The buffet was great (not like normal hotels cheep buffets) this place had amazing staff and the quality of the fresh food was so shocking! There were endless options each day. There are also other restaurants at the hotel, our favorite was the Japanese one, the food was so good (we got multiple dumpling orders TO-GO back to our room. The steak house was good as well, just it gets BUSY and you need to book in advance to ensure you'll get a table. The Italian one was very American Average, nothing crazy stood out, but again the venue vibes were great! The 4th one, we never went to cuz the menu didn't fit our desire, but it looked cool from the outside! Cons of this hotel: The 24hr snack lounge had this kinda funky cleaning smell? I don't know how to describe it but my clothes coming home had that odor on it. Also The beach was kinda small/narrow so there wasn't much room if you came down around lunch. Chairs/loungers were also a VERY hot item and it was hard to find chairs after 10am most days. If you like to drink, there isn't that "top shelf" quality of liquor here, it's kinda average... but the bartenders were able to make virtually any drink and we never had a single bad drink! Transportation: No one (not a single person) told us that you need to confirm your return transpiration the day after you arrive (and the travel people can be found out at the stage lounge are most mornings). Riu had messed up and booked 2 out of 6 of our party on a VERY early pick up instead of having us all travel together. We had to rebook through the agent outside but I was able to get a refund when I go back home) ------------------ Overall, BOOK this hotel.
