Place is beautiful but The property itself is beautiful; however, our experience raised some concerns. The owners did not seem to consistently recognize or recall guests, which created some confusion during our visit. If you plan to make payments, I recommend using checks or another traceable method so you have clear proof of payment. Additionally, there appeared to be some tension with the staff, as they were being corrected in front of guests, which affected the overall atmosphere. Although our event was scheduled until 11:00 PM, cleanup began around 10:30 PM, which made guests feel as though the event was ending early and led to people leaving sooner than expected. There were also a few minor issues, such as being questioned for requesting a few additional utensils. Attended a couple weddings at Park Place, both were fabulous. This venue is gorgeous. It has a spacious party house for the reception with a connected covered patio. An amazing park with gazebo, lovely roses all around, plenty of trees for shade and even has its own mini lake. The food that was provided was delicious. The owners and their staff make sure things go smoothly and provide excellent service to the guests. I would highly recommend Park Place not only for weddings but also for any celebration you may be planning. read more

Park Place Special Events came to my rescue when my wedding was canceled in Vegas last minute. Mary Ann was amazing and made sure to be available to me at all times to plan the wedding with such short notice. The day of the wedding she took care of everything which allowed me to relax and not have to worry about things getting done. She also had an assistant Taylor that was such a sweetheart. She was so calm and helpful the day of the wedding. This venue is beyond beautiful. The lake, the gazebo, the fountain, and the orchards, I could go on and on about how many photo opportunities there are. And at night it is lit up with the most beautiful lights! The price is very reasonable. It actually ended up being cheaper than my original wedding planned in Vegas. The price at Park Place includes the food, alcohol, table linens, set up and break down, and so many other things that would normally have to be paid for out of pocket. We saved a lot of money booking with Park Place. I am so glad my Vegas wedding was canceled and I was able to book it at Park Place. It turned out more amazing than I could have ever imagined. read more

Went here for a wedding and the three stars are for how beautiful the place was. A lake, beautiful building with lots of windows, and lots of vegetation with twinkling lights! The issue I had with the place were the employees. Their bad attitude, lack of patience, and overall demeanor made it awkward and made me feel like everything was an inconvenience. Not a single smile and they were short and non obliging. So sad considering the place was a little piece of heaven! I would not recommend this venue unless they change staff or teach them to fake happiness! read more

The most important day of a girls life is to have her dream ‍wedding, for it to be a perfect day. I wasn't the bride, I was a guest and saw to many flaws with the staff, they were very unprofessional by not wearing the right attire for the beautiful venue, they were all wearing jeans and t- shirts like if they were ready to go out to pick up trash on the highway, the old lady at the bar giving out hot cocoa and sodas didn't have the time to brush her hair but did have time to roll her eyes at me for no reason. My Pastor that is a coffee drinker was told he couldn't get coffee so why y'all put the out coffee out, that was very RUDE and unprofessional! I saw many staff members walking around but never saw one asking if we needed anything, no salt or pepper at the table to season the bland food if we wanted tea or coffee we had to get up get it ourselves like if we were at a buffet, then I decided I wanted more veggies and salad because I was only given 4 green beans, all the food was put away but saw all the staff eating the food, I hope they did get permission from the family to eat the rest of the food there were insects landing on our table, mosquitoes attacking me, everyone was complaining it was cold. I had a horrible experience, I'm not related to the bride or groom but me as a mother with daughters I know I would be very upset and angry. No way did the staff go out of their way to make the guest welcome. I hope for future events the change their attire, brush their hair, put on a smile and at least pretend they are happy to serve the guests. read more

My previous 2 reviews got removed so here it goes again! Someone really doesn't want people to know about this bad experience! I was the maid of honor for my sister's wedding recently. We had a wedding coordinator who was very kind, but she was constantly stepped on by the venue owner. This poor girl was constantly bulldozed. The owner also had a habit of pushing her own ideas and getting offended or frustrated if my sister said no. She pushed for a "sweets table" so abrasively and frequently it became a joke between me and my sister where I would randomly ask her "you want a sweets table, right?" Similar things happened with a unity table, frequently forgetting and repetitively asking who the vendors are, and insisting that the bride switch sides with the groom when they walk back up the aisle (something about how men used to carry swords). The pinnacle was when the bride got permission from the coordinator to let the hairdresser/makeup artist in early to set up. When she arrived the owner blocked her, yelled at her to leave, wouldn't let her wait in the parking lot, and forced her off the property. The florist was allowed in early to set up, but the hairdresser/makeup artist wasn't. The contract did state that the wedding party couldn't get into the cabins until 4 hours prior, but we had gotten permission for a vendor to set up and she got verbally shredded. It's also not clear why she couldn't get into the cabin. It wasn't being cleaned or set up or anything, there wasn't an event that morning before the wedding, it was just locked. (By the way when we were let in the cabin smelled like sewer and was full of flies). This whole incident set back the timeline by 30 minutes. Not too bad except the late start meant the photographer was still taking photos of the bride in her gown in a grassy area right next to where the guests were arriving--meaning they all saw her before she walked down the aisle. The rest of the night The owner could be found frowning near the bar snapping at guests and rolling her eyes. Take a look at my Yelp review history and see that I very rarely give bad reviews. I love giving good reviews and usually keep bad experiences to myself. Since a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and this was an exceptionally bad experience, I feel obligated to let future brides know that this isn't a good choice. Just to clarify this issue happened maybe ten years ago but it still bothers me to this day and can guarantee the lady who showed us around that day will remember this. My fiance and I were looking for wedding venues for our wedding. I don't recall what the ladies name was who was showing us around but at the point where we were showed the venue from the inside, Wayne the other came to join us. He was a nice man and was personable at first but things took a weird turn when we were took into their little office cabin to look at dates. Wayne went on about how they don't allow bands or live music because their are neighbors around the area then said "BECAUSE THIS ISNT MEXICO" which rubbed us the wrong way because we made no mention of live music. My girlfriend attested and said we understand this isn't mexico obviously and made no plans for a live band. Sounds like they may have had some bad experiences but not reason to take it out on a young couple who obviously wouldn't do anything. Then as my fiance is looking at the schedule and we both have our back turned, he tells the lady showing us around "THAT GIRL IS A BITCH" and the lady gave him a look look of shock and concern that we would hear him. I pretended to not hear him and it still bothers me to this day that I didn't act hostile but would rather leave this review to let other Hispanics our experience. read more

Came here for friend's wedding. They have a nice wedding and reception area. I'm assuming most of their weddings are done outside because it overlooks the pond and when the sunset hits the water, OMG! It's beautiful. Their reception area was big enough to accomodate atleast 200-300 people. They also have a host who used to work for the radio station in Bakersfield. At night, the twinkling lights are on and it just makes you love the place more. Bathrooms were very clean, staff's were nice and plenty of parking spaces for guests. It's about 45 minutes-1 hour from Bakersfield, but definitely worth the drive. read more

Park Place is a fairytale come true! Everything was PERFECT on my wedding day and I'm so glad we chose to celebrate the best day of our lives at such an incredible place. The owners have rules and these rules are what keep their property so incredible. I respect and appreciate their honesty in all details. It prevented unnecessary or unexpected surprise conflicts. They are quite flexible as long as you approve things with adequate time. We were an open book about all of our plans and this allowed for us to have what we wanted without disregarding the contract. Wayne and Maryanne are very professional and accommodating. They even drove to Bakersfield and returned tables to us that we left by accident. They were present during the event in case problems occurred, but for the most part they stayed in the background and hopefully enjoyed the time with us. The ceremony was beautiful and the setting allowed for the best pictures. Kati is the coordinator and she is fabulous! There was nothing she couldn't handle or help with. She truly made the entire process delightful. I recommend Park Place to anyone who wants to have an event that runs smoothly in its own mini paradise. In regard to the negative reviews previously posted on other sites, I too read them and felt a tad apprehensive. However, nothing that was said in them stood true with my experience. Be open about your plans and ask about alternatives if necessary. Be kind, be honest, and you will be given the same respect back. I'm so thankful to MaryAnn and Wayne who pleasantly worked with us on our wedding day. We were married on 4/17/21. Our original plans were for a large wedding of 150 guests and our plans were disrupted due to COVID pandemic. I was just married here and do not have a negative thing to say about this venue. It is absolutely beautiful. The location and scenery are perfect for pictures. The ceremony set up is that of a fairytale! The wedding venue coordinator, Allison, was amazing. During planning she helped my mom and I make sure we had everything set up (she even helped us fix some of our own mistakes last minute) and she was crucial to making the day go smoothly. The owners were hands off but very supportive and show that they really care about their brides. Pricing was very straightforward, and because the place is all-inclusive, there is very little stress involved in the planning. It was very enjoyable working with them. Yes, they do have a lot of rules and restrictions but that is only to help your wedding day go as it should and to protect their venue. My day ran smoothly without any hiccups. BEAUTIFUL VENUE, and the wedding coordinator, Kati, is an absolute doll. With that being said, I DO NOT RECOMMEND AN EVENT BEING HELD HERE. My husband and I first visited this place last June and ABSOLUTELY fell in love. If only we knew what a nightmare the owners were going to be. At the rehearsal dinner, a member of my wedding party chose to drive into the venue on the dirt road exceeding the posted speed limit. The female owner then came rushing out of the main building, clearly upset, and had a conversation with me in front of all my guests, about how, since I'm the bride I need to handle that situation and it wont be tolerated on the day of our wedding. While I understand it was rude of him to speed on the property, she definitely could have handled the situation more professionally. When I first booked the wedding, I was assured that I could have my rehearsal dinner the Friday before my Saturday wedding, that I could bring things to set up that night if I wanted, and that I could come out as early as I'd like on the day of my wedding. Well, I should have gotten this signed in writing, because two months before my wedding I was told that I could not have my rehearsal dinner the Friday before because "they liked to keep that date open for any last minute events" and that I could come out any time after 1:00 on the day of my wedding "because they didn't want to have to be out there all day". During the reception, the AC was shut off half-way through the night, at approximately 8:30, even though I paid to have the venue until 11. While I understand electricity is expensive, and I chose to have a June wedding knowing good and well it would be hot, I also paid a good amount of money to have the AC on during the hours I was using the venue. To top that off, during the reception one of my bridesmaids and I went into the adorable, spacious bridal cabin to change our shoes. I was tired and wanted to relax for a minute, so I turned on the AC and literally within two minutes, the male owner entered the cabin, walked over to the AC shut it off, said "this doesn't need to be on right now" and walked out. HOW DARE HE. It was as if he followed me over there just to make sure I didn't use the AC. This infuriated me. Also, for my wedding, I had a candy bar and about 30 minutes before my event was scheduled to end, the owners walked around to all the tables and threw away everything that was on them, including the candy my guests had bagged up to take home. The kids were not happy! While this venue is stunning, the owners are definitely going to drive away business with their nasty behaviors. I sincerely hope they change their attitude, sell the property or hire people who can professionally handle their customers, because I'd hate to see this beautiful venue go to waste! read more

I was here recently to attend a friend's daughter's wedding. This is a beautiful setting for celebrating weddings and other special occasions. There is a large pond with a fountain in it. A white gazebo stands in front of the pond with a white cement walk leading from a covered building to the gazebo making a perfect aisle for bride to walk down. Chairs are set up on the grass on either side of the aisle for a wedding. There was also a separate fountain for taking pictures. The large rectangular building with a vaulted wooden ceiling has glass sliding doors on 3 sides and a glass garage door style door on the fountain side which allowed in a lot of natural light and let in a cool breeze, important on a warm day. There was plenty of room for tables, and the cement floor was pretty good for dancing, too. I'm a dancer, so that is one of the first things I notice. - There was also a cement pad outside the sliding glass doors for people to go outside the building to enjoy the cool night air. There was also a separate air conditioned house with a shower, kitchen, and refrigerator for the use of the bride and her attendants to get ready for the ceremony. The bride's mother was really pleased with all that was included in package - all tables and chairs and linens and plates and caterer (had 3 or 4 choices of who to get). The price included the beer, wine, and champagne toast I gave it 4 3/4 stars (which is still a VERY HIGH RATING) instead 5 because of one thing. There was a LONG time between the ceremony and when they started serving food, though I believe it may have had something to do with the bride taking a long time to come out and join her guests. The bride's mother informed me that she had ordered cheese and crackers for the guests to enjoy between the ceremony and dinner while everyone was getting their pictures taken. She said she would have gladly paid for it ($75) but was told they would just throw it in. I wasn't a witness to the negotiations so I'm having to take her word for that. When push came to shove, she says that they made an executive decision not to include it, but didn't tell the bride or her mother. I can't be sure exactly what happened, but it sounds like there was some kind of a breakdown in communication, and the venue owner has contacted us to let us know how sorry she was about the mix-up. Other than that, it was a fabulous wedding due in large part to the venue. THE BRIDE'S MOTHER SAYS SHE WOULD ABSOLUTELY BOOK ANOTHER EVENT HERE. You owe it to yourself to come out and take a look at this place if you're even considering planning a party or other special occasion; YOU WON'T REGRET IT! read more

I went to my brothers wedding and it was beautiful. The venue itself was very pretty but the owner made it a bad experience. She was very rude and bossy. She wouldn't let my brothers wedding planner do her job. She yelled at her the whole rehearsal. And the day of the wedding she showed up in sweatpants and messy hair, very unprofessional. When the bride was getting her hair and makeup done, 3 hours before the wedding started, she came in and yelled at the makeup artist to move her car. There was plenty of time for her to move her car after the bride was done getting ready. She stressed out the bride all day. She was just so rude to the guests. She sat behind the drink bar and was incredibly rude to the kids asking for soda and hot chocolate. They put the food away very quickly. My grandma wanted to go get more and they told her no. And then all of the staff ate it. My brother payed for the food so I don't see why the guests couldn't go back for seconds. She also fought with her husband pretty loud and it was so disrespectful. She also started taking down tables and being loud when the best man was giving his speech. Would definitely not recommend this place. read more

This was my venue for my June 2 wedding. Mary and her husband Wayne have turned thier dirt orchard into a complete work of art. My wedding out there was the best yet, and yours could be too. It is beautiful, peaceful, and elegant. Everything to make your day great and all yours. Park Place handles the set up and tear down of tables and chairs, dinning ware, the drinks, dinner(just choose your caterer)... ect... My family only needed to provide the tequila for the margarita machine you can rent, table decorations such as the center peices, the cake, and photographer, videographer, DJ... plus all your no need to mention personal items (dresses, bouquets, boutonnieres, tuxes, guest book,... ect) you get the point. You the bride will have nothing to worry about... tell them what you want and "you got it" Amazing people, amazing place... I love reading reviews, but I have never felt the need to write one, until now. I was just married at Park Place this past Saturday, 05/07/16. I hate that I even have to say anything negative about that day because it was such a beautiful day for me and my family. The location is absolutely GORGEOUS. There is a man-made lake/pond with a cool water bubble in the center. The grounds are green and lush with trees, plants, and flowers. My fiancé and I went there for the first visit and quickly agreed this would be the perfect place for us to have our day. I had seen a review or two on some of the wedding websites that made mention that the owners MaryAnn and Wayne were a little overbearing and VERY protective over their property, but I saw nothing that scared me off from wanting to have my day here. Plus Kati, Park Places' Event Coordinator was really accommodating and sweet. There was a little red flag here and there as is seemed like Kati had to constantly "check in" with Wayne and MaryAnn about every little detail and decision. There were a LOT of rules, not a lot of wiggle room on any of them- which is definitely their prerogative, just something to keep in mind. Rehearsal/wedding set-up on Friday was when it started going downhill. Kati was on location to run the rehearsal and assist with a set-up; MaryAnn and Wayne were there as well. They sat in the corner and watched the entire thing. They interjected throughout the night when they didn't like how or what was being set-up. They didn't really help or do anything except voice their displeasure with something happening. Our set-up/rehearsal time was from 5-7PM. Right at 7PM sharp, the lights were turned off on the property, which was our queue to go home. Most of my wedding party made a comment by the end of that night about how uncomfortable they felt and how there was a lack of customer service on behalf of the owners the entire night. They weren't friendly, didn't smile, and didn't say much, unless they were unhappy with something. The vibe was so bad I actually brought up the complaints I had received from my family and friends to Kati and asked if there was something we (my party) had done to upset the owners (MaryAnn in particular). Kati told me later via text that MaryAnn had something going on in her personal life and her attitude had gotten the best of her, but assured me it had nothing to do with me or my wedding party. She apologized on MaryAnn's behalf and stated she was "rough around the edges, but really was a nice lady most of the time". I brushed it off as that and looked forward to my wedding day. The day of the wedding my Mom, Aunts, and brother went over to the venue to finish the decorating. Kati was not there, but MaryAnn was. Almost everyone there has since told me an example or two of her rude comments and behavior while they were there setting up. She was upset about people using paper towels to clean off mirrors and even threatened to "charge us" for using so many. She was upset about where and how things were being placed. My Mom said she argued with her regarding the cake table. MaryAnn believed we didn't ask for one, therefore was not willing to set one for us. In retrospect I wish Kati was present during set-up as she was aware of the layout and set-up. Once again, customer service, or lack of it, came into play because once again MaryAnn made the already stressful time of set-up even worse. My Mom and the rest of my family came back from the venue pretty upset with MaryAnn and her behavior. Now, the wedding night itself...everything was GORGEOUS and running smoothly, until ....YUP you guessed it, MaryAnn. She was patrolling the parking lot; I believe attempting to catch people drinking "unapproved alcohol". She questioned my husband's college-age cousins, who left and came back to the venue (I freely admit they probably went to get a bottle of alcohol, although I am not positive), but once again MaryAnn took a situation that could have been handled with professionalism and tact and once again decided to escalate and dramatize it. She accused them of having alcohol, weapons, and/or drugs in their vehicle. She told them she was going to get her son (who she said was a sheriff's deputy) to come out and search their vehicle. COMPLETELY inappropriate! While I may agree they could have had unapproved alcohol in their vehicle, she in no way, shape, or form had any reason to believe they had drugs or weapons on them...and to even imply that was simply disrespectful and out of line. These comments really upset my very new husband as he felt his family should not have been questioned in this manner. After a little argument ensued, in which MaryAnn was very non-apologetic or helpful in de-escalating the situation her husband Wayne had to take her home as he even realized she was the cause of so many issues. Wedding finished smoothly after she was gone. Bottom line, lovely and gorgeous place, but horrible customer service!! read more

The coordinator, Allison, was busy making sure everything was going smooth and all of the guests were taken care of. She did a great job and this wedding venue is beautiful. Awesome venue we attended for a Wedding, staff was very quick and friendly and didn't rush us. Only reason they didn't get a 5 is because the food catering was terrible. A little salt and paper would of made a big difference on the meat but no. I believe it was too fat sandwiches that catered. I had my wedding ceremony and reception there in April 2015. The owner, Wayne and his new wife (Ex-wife Mary was a sweetheart) are so childish and don't really care about the bride and the groom on their special day. He was a jerk to us and all of our guests along with his wife who I disliked since the moment I met her before my wedding date. They made my day a disaster and I just wish we would had chosen a place with better owners along with less restrictions. They did not even give me the full contract until 1 month prior to the wedding so we did not know about all these rules and restrictions until then. Beautiful setting and an absolutely beautiful wedding! Then why only 1 star... THE GESTAPO OWNERS! I will back Sam D. on his comments. I first mentioned to my wife how they (the owners) were making themselves comfortable with all the food offered. Next, I pointed out how he had perched himself to monitor the children playing outside (my children included). I tend to monitor my kids and other child activities closely in case of accidents and just to keep them in control but, want them to be able to be kids 100%. When I first saw the wife/owner approaching the kids, I walked up to hear what she was saying... She was telling the kids they needed to stop wrestling and running around a speaker. I stepped in to assure her that the kids were being watched and if the speaker was no longer being used, maybe we could move it so the kids could continue to play. This was obviously not appropriate for me to say because this lead to her threatening to "shut the party down" because "she owns the place"! After diffusing that situation, I stood off to the side where I could watch the kids to make sure they weren't causing any trouble. Shortly after, the husband/owner came marching out to the kids again, and again I followed over to assure him they were ok. I then found myself talking with the owner, the wedding coordinator and some other guy from behind the bar. They proceeded to tell me how children are not usually allowed at the functions, how they would get sued if one of these children were to get injured, did I think signs should be put up everywhere to enforce their laws (my words, not theirs) and basically made to feel like the children of the guests at this function were stressing out the uninvited guests/owners as they crashed the wedding party. And I know for a fact that you were informed of how many children were to be expected and you came back with," As long as we are not babysitting." Seems like you assume that roll on your own. I did tell them that signs might be a good idea if there are areas you do not want guests to enter (almond orchard). Also, somewhere in our conversation the issue of insurance came up to which the husband stated that THEY DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE!!!! I have not verified this statement but, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No wonder you're so overly consumed with fear of children playing like children do! I could go on but I feel I've said enough. Again, it is a beautiful setting but if you decide to have an event here, I would make sure the owners understand they are not invited or to not exceed the level of duty they need to be present for. They do not need to monitor the children's activities. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED having my wedding here!!! Everything was so beautiful, and we could not have asked for a better day! All of my family and friends had such a great time too, and we definitely have lots of great photos from it all, haha! Park Place's coordinator (Kati) was so sweet and amazing through everything, anytime I had questions or needed suggestions, I could literally text her or call her whenever I needed to and she was beyond helpful for me! Another relief was that she actually does coordinating for the ceremonies too, so my mom and Aunt didn't need to stress about making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and they were able to just enjoy the day with everyone. This venue is so beautiful too!!! There is a huge lake with a really pretty fountain in the middle of it, and the venue is surrounded by orchards with TONS of flowers everywhere! We had more of a rustic chic type of wedding, and this location was absolutely perfect! Their packages are a lifesaver and it was like a one stop shop with everything they offer. My husband and I joked that we couldn't believe planning it was that simple, and we felt like there must have been something we were forgetting...haha, but we were good. The owners were so nice too and let us come in the morning to decorate and then also let us come back out 4 hours before the start of our ceremony so we could get ready and take photos....I seriously thought this was a ton of time because my cousin got married last year at a different venue in Bakersfield and they only gave her 2 hours before ceremony for everything and she was so stressed out trying to do everything...but at Park Place I got to have 6 hours total before my ceremony started...so we were beyond grateful for that!!!! In the morning when we were trying to set up a photo prop area, we had this large backdrop that we couldn't get to stand up on its own...and the owner Wayne actually made something from his house and brought it over to make our backdrop work for us. Him & Maryann also measured and cut a 2x4 for us so that we could hang our little chandelier in the gazebo...they were so nice & helpful for us and our family. I just read that there was an issue with kids at Park Place, but I had a totally different experience. The owners actually came up to my husband's parents and told them how impressed they were with the kids at our wedding, because they were such good kids...and that they really appreciated how respectful they were, we had about 10 kids at the wedding....so maybe those other kids were being crazy or something...I don't know, but the kids at my wedding got compliments from the owners...they played duck-duck goose on the lawn and danced with us..so it's not like they were just sitting still the whole time. My nephews & niece told me they had fun at my wedding...so we had no issues. I would 100% recommend this place to other people...my husband, myself, and our family & friends all had an amazingly fun night, and I LOVED my wedding! read more
