The first time we went to take a look at the facility we noticed it was so clean and bright, there were lots of friendly tenants and activities going on. The faculty was so cheery and helpful giving us a tour and a lunch that was actually quite good. My dad is walking and getting out of his room every day with other people to talk to and dine with. This has been a blessing for my sisters and I to not have to worry about dad and to see him adapting so well. Carmen, Elaine and Shelley

Every member of the staff was extremely flexible, accommodating and communicative from the application process to move-in and beyond. My MIL loves it there. We've had meals several times in the restaurant, and the food really is restaurant quality. Her one bedroom apartment is well-appointed, clean, cozy, has ample storage & closet space, and even has its own washer & dryer. The staff knows every resident's name, and I watch as they make important personal connections every day. Safety is paramount, requiring each resident to push a "check-in" button located in each apartment, between 5am-9am. If the resident does not check-in, the staff immediately checks on them.

Security is solid--you check in at the front desk and get a visitor badge--and there's plenty of parking. The party was held in the game room downstairs, with a huge spread of food: chicken wings, pizza, cold cuts, veggies, chips and dips, popcorn, mozzarella sticks, desserts, cookies, plus beer and soda. A big‑screen TV made watching the game easy, and lots of residents were there with their families. Both the game room and dining area have a beautiful view of Lake Washington, which made the whole event feel even nicer.

Once we were able to get mom to give The Lakeshore a chance, she found a beautiful and diverse living community with wall-to wall art, friendly residents, professional staff, and a welcoming feel. The place is absolutely beautiful with lake views, neighboring eagles and pristine indoor and outdoor common areas. Mom marvels over the food in a dining room that resembles a high-end restaurant. The menu has an impressive variety that includes weekly specials and multi-ethnic cuisine. We are surprised at how well mom has acclimated to her new living arrangement. The maintenance folks are always friendly and willing to help with tasks that Mom needs done. The front desk staff is welcoming and attentive at all times. We appreciate how the staff knows everybody by name and converses with them in a way that shows they personally know each resident. Knowing that my mother is living amongst wonderful people, residents as well as staff, brings so much joy and comfort to our family. We are impressed with the fellow residents who are ambassadors. They check on Mom and include her in activities. They are all very welcoming to their peers, family members, and all who visit. The events and activities that are held at The Lakeshore keep folks as busy as they want to be, or they can just enjoy quiet time in the library, activity room, or areas to just sit and relax. My husband and I have already decided that we will be moving to The Lakeshore when we are ready to transition from our home.

It was really hard for them to leave their home of 25 years, but after touring the community and a week or two adjusting to their new environment - they were sold! They are so happy in their new home at Merrill Gardens Tukwila! Shane, the general manager, is absolutely amazing! He is kind hearted, patient and understanding. My parents both adore him. In fact, they love all the staff - front desk, sales, events director, nurses, servers, cooks, housekeeping, etc - everyone is great, kind and helpful. My parents love the food in the dining room and also enjoy the option to cook their own breakfast because the kitchen in their apartment has a stove. Another perk, the outdoor patio has beautiful views of Mt Rainier and the Green River with lots of seating and garden boxes. My parents walk the Green River trail daily as it is only steps outside the front door of the community. Where do I begin …read more.. We are so thankful for this wonderful brand-new community. Without a doubt this is an impressive five-star facility. We moved my Mother-in-Law (MIL) Trudy to Aegis Gardens mid-February. I cannot express how impressed we are with the facility and staff. From the first moment we walked through the door the management and staff has been supportive, caring and compassionate. They have gone above and beyond to make sure my MIL feels welcome and cared for. They treat her like family. It's obvious that the devoted management and staff genuinely care for the residents (and family). This facility was built with the residents in mind. They offer so many amenities such as on-site beauty and nail salon, movie theater, koi pond, indoor water fountain, swimming pool, workout room, tea rooms, barbershop, game room with actual slot machines (no you can't win money but you can win prizes), lounge with a lake view. Daily resident trash pickup. Resident outings, exercise classes, etc. Tenants also receive toilet paper, paper towels and soap. The list of amenities goes on and on. Aegis Gardens also provides outstanding culinary offerings! Meals are prepared by their Chef who offers Asian cuisine as well as made to order, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, etc. They also have a noodle bar. Coffee, tea and snacks are available during the day. The decor throughout the facility reflects an opulent Asian theme. Aegis members flew to China and handpicked the wall coverings, beautiful artwork, wall dividers, furniture etc. and had it shipped to Aegis Gardens. They also have multiple flat screen LCD's hanging on the walls that show activities and residents enjoying the activities. They also won a well-deserved prestigious National Award for Best Architecture and Design in the senior living category. They offer studios to 2-bedroom apartments. Some of the apartments have beautiful lake views. There are safety rails outside the apartments. Their attention to detail is phenomenal. They even offer perks to family members such as: the use of motorized bikes to explore the nearby trails and parks, monthly family meetings, wellness profile emails (basically this is a report that tracks activities and a general assessment of the resident and it's sent to family members), attend lecture series, family movie matinees and classes with residents. The feeling I have when I walk through the door is not of an assisted living facility but the atmosphere you would feel at an upscale 5-star hotel. The environment is positive, and the residents seem very happy and content. Although Aegis Gardens emphasis is on the Asian community every nationality is welcome. If you or your love one is looking for a place to call home I highly recommend Aegis Gardens. Thanks to Meng, Ellie and Morgan, for your help with the orientation and move-in process! Thanks also to Nicki, Nancy, Margaret, Chris and the rest of the staff for all that you do. Thanks to everyone for making this place special. -David and Susan

Our Dad stayed here for just under a year before passing. He was very happy with the care and…read morecompassion given him during his time here. The only issue he had was the food which he was always critical of even at the restaurants we went to. In reading some of the other reviews I think Aegis has improved much since those reviews. They adjusted the billing when we brought up a service we didn't need anymore. The only increase is the new year rate adjustment which is normal. They were quick to call when Dad had a fall and told us he's OK. Then when he needed to be transported to the hospital they called and told us where he was being taken to and why. Considering the number of residences the response time when summoned can be long considering the situation. Dad did complain about that a few times he had to push his help button. Overall the facility is first class. Lots of daily group activities to keep the residents engaged including special events to celebrate holidays. Volunteer groups entertain the residents with ethnic dances, sing a-longs, etc. First Thursday family events are always fun and residents get to meet and get to know other family members. Staff has always been friendly, patient, and helpful. They recognize us when we visit and engage in conversation telling us about Dad's days. Even the residents remember us and when they hadn't seen Dad for a day or so they would ask us how he's doing. So it's a very good social environment with residents looking out for each other as well. I would rate them excellent but for Dad's couple of complaints. Keep up the good work at Aegis.

She moved…read morein when she needed more care than her previous independent living facility provided, and also so she could be closer to Mercer Island family. When I've visited from out of town, I've found the staff to be genuinely caring and kind with the residents; the affection and care is not fake-ola or put on. The staff members have all been happy to connect with me, and could all talk knowledgeably about my mom's personality and habits. Since she isn't much of a joiner, they fold her into the community gently, with respect for her own pace. Not incidentally, the food is consistently tasty, which helps keep some much-needed weight on her. The dining room and common areas are welcoming and attractive, and there's a porch with a gorgeous vista that feels a bit like a mountain resort. My brothers and I are grateful for the care our mom is getting at VP.

After my mother crawled down from her wheelchair to the floor and once from her bed (without injury), the facility decided that they could no longer care for her. Vineyard Park lied and said she fell from her wheelchair and her bed and is now a risk, but that isn't so. Then, without notifying anyone in our family, they sent her directly to the hospital. Only after she was already at the hospital did they contact us, saying we took your mother to the hospital, we will not take her back, and left my mother alone at the hospital and us scrambling on what to do next. This phone call was on a weeknight at 8 PM. Imagine getting a call that time of night saying "we kicked your mom out and she's at the hospital haha sorry! We cant do it anymore" After they dumped her at the hospital, the next day over the phone Vineyard Park claimed they had a relationship with another facility on Mercer Island that has availability for her. However, when we followed up with the facility they recommended, they had no idea what we were talking about. We found out that the facility was full, and they do not have any relationship to Vineyard Park and were unsure of why Aaron at Vineyard Park would even tell us that. After that, we contacted Vineyard Park for assistance to other places and we got ghosted. They didn't pick up the phone. No emails of other recommendations, nothing. This all happened within 2 days. It was crazy! Adult care facilities have a responsibility and obligations to give the family a 30-day notice to vacate and also assist the resident find a new home. They didn't do any of that. Vineyard Park was engaging in what we later found out is called "patient dumping". Abandoning vulnerable residents in hospitals without proper care plans or notice to anybody. We still haven't received any help or follow up. Its been a few weeks now. It doesn't seem legal to me. All in all, Vineyard Park gave us no notice of discharge, offered no assistance in finding a new facility, and left us feeling misled. It was very unusual. They promised care for mom but instead left her alone at the hospital. Future residents and families watch out. The lack of communication, care, and ethics we experienced sucked. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what we did.
