I just moved here from Chicago and was trying to find a good place to dance. I originally picked The Loft but at 10:30pm on a Friday it was dead, so I walked over to this place. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best club experience, musically, I've had in years. I guess it's a bar but there's a small space to dance and it was like 40 amazingly remixed songs one after the other, I danced for 2 hours straight, I was soaking. You definitely work off whatever you drink! I came alone and met several people, it was so much fun. I can say with absolute certainty I will be back!! Also they check bags, for guns maybe? I was disappointed by my recent visit to Park Place. After paying to play music on the jukebox, the bartender turned it off for a football game. I understand wanting to accommodate everyone, but it felt out of place in a space that usually celebrates queer community and culture. You can go to any bar in Jacksonville to see a football game. A quick heads-up or refund would've gone a long way. I hope the bar can be more mindful about balancing atmosphere and inclusivity in the future. read more

Love it here. They have daily drink specials during the week, lovely staff, and a very welcoming environment. We go to play pool normally but we love how inviting it is here. A non alcoholic beverage mocktail is $4.75 WTF it's not even out of cans it's outta the soda gun ,effin stupid and the only good thing was they had a patio for the people that smoke and alcoholics don't like non alcoholics so the bartender was slightly ignorant with his obvious lack of personality but perhaps it's was the dye in his beard cause you can't fool me older men that dye their hair look absolutely ridiculous. It's a very friendly bar for all. The bar staff work hard and our the life of the party. The unfortunate part is the DJ is the one person who can be bothered to ensure a good time. No song request are taken because he runs the show (he has a hard time reading the room). Other than that I definitely recommend!!! It's a great place to play dart and pool!! read more

Staff is cool and very friendly. Drinks are worth what they charge. I never leave there disappointed because I got a watered down drink.

We originally started coming to this bar because we assumed it would be a judgement free safe space. On slow nights that's the case. Yes I'm a straight white male but the bartenders will at least take my order on slow nights. We went on a Friday and I got pat down had to empty all my pockets and questioned about contents in my pockets. (A flashlight) I then watched several men walk in with their male partners and they were waved in with no search at all. I was with my girlfriend but that shouldn't make me a target of discrimination. The fact that the door guy told me I was being searched because of Pulse night club was unnecessary. If that was the case they search everyone not just the straight guys. We stood at the bar trying to order for about 15 minutes while everyone else was being served around us until we finally left. I'm not from Jax and maybe that's just how their LGBTQ+ community acts but I'm not used to it. If you don't want allies to come support your business then just post it on the door and own it. It sucks because we loved coming to this bar the few times we came on slow nights. We were welcomed across the street so that'll have to be our haunt now. read more

Good club! There was no cover which was nice. The music was good. They had a good mix of songs. Definitely would recommend. The best part of this club is that the drinks are reasonably priced. Two drinks for 12 dollars. That's really cheap compared to other clubs. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the dance floor is very small. They should make it bigger. So I've been very reluctant to go back to Park places again because every time I go I get the same experience it seems as park place one of a few of LGBT bars in Jacksonville and I live right in Riverside but my last experience have been waiting on someone to Service me I know two bartenders that give me excellent service in there but I went in there and sat there for 15 minutes at the bar and watched the bartenders looked at me and didn't ask me what I would like to drink and skipped over me and serve the people that walked in after me several times and then finally looked at me and say you want to drink and I said I've been sitting here for 15 minutes. I've been wanting to drink and he had the nerve tell me well ask for a drink with attitude because I was displeased with the service , not my job to do your job l, i would have ask for a drink if I would have had the proper service at the beginning, but I got skipped over and looked over several times, I've been a bartender, for 11 years and I know how to serve my customers and, that's why they keep coming back to me this is not my first rodeo and I know how bars and the restaurant business should be operated I have opened up many bars and started many bar programs and restaurants. I have worked in Houston at very high volume bars then Parkplace and we are still able to keep up and pay attention to the customers, and serve them excellent service I think Parkplace is a cute bar and I would have liked to become a regular there especially being new to Jacksonville in the area, but judging the last few bad service experience has out weight the good two experience I have had there. I'd rather give my time and money to another establishment that will actually give me a better experience. read more

OK this place rocks. Fun and friendly bartenders, cheap pitchers of beer, no attitudes, full liquor service, smoking allowed, pool tables, darts, music videos and sports on the multitude of TVs, good vibes, $2-3 shot specials, plenty of seating and very well ventilated. Who knew? Obviously I didn't and what a cool place to hang out and drink. Honestly, I can't believe I just discovered this place now. Stopped in here couple months ago on a whim after not having been in here for probably a decade. They have made a lot of improvements to the back deck and patio area. The inside is still the same, a dark dive bar which is dank and smoky. Now if you're into dark and smoky bars like I used to be, well, this might be the perfect place for you. when I stopped in at about 730 I think there were probably 15 people hanging out around the bar. It was a very eclectic crowd. We passed on through and went out to the patio in the back. This is nicely laid out with the small conversation areas and some covering in case it sprinkles. It was clean and pleasant. I did not see any servers out there so we went and got our own drinks. The bartender was definitely friendly. I wish I could remember his name. Parking is tough around here so if you can find some grab it you'll probably have to look on the side streets. This is probably not the place you want to go on a date and definitely not on a first date but if you're out with some friends and you want to try something a little different well, this is probably a great place to go for A drink while you're doing the King Street Crawl. read more

WE LOVE PARK PLACE! If you can't tell this is our favorite local hangout. We love almost to close at times, but go to meet up with all our friends and great music! Their normal prices are the best around for a bar. The Mexican hooker shots are always a requirement. Especially if you bring someone new with you- they always give you the confused side eye look! All of the staff is great bartenders, bar backs, and helping hand - friendly, respective, and talkative! This bar started as a gay bar but welcome any and everyone. They do a good job at mixing drinks and bartenders are nice. Last time we were here they were not checking IDs or patting down folks. There's a reason nearly every low review is outdated or irrelevant. That's because this bar is 5/5 stars all around. They play top 40s across multiple genres and there is a juke box for the more particular. They have drink specials and creative shots for you and friends to encounter. There are two bars, a dance floor, and VERY CLEAN bathrooms by any bar standards. The outdoor patio is smoking welcome and on certain nights there are music videos playing on the televisions. It is a lively hang on the back patio! Well drinks are cheap and get you nicely buzzed. There is parking onsite and down every surrounding street. The bar is quieter with just some regulars during the day and during the night, people of all types come out to have a good time. This is my favorite bar in Jacksonville. read more

Not only do I love this place... but I love the people who work here! They've got great music, great drink specials, pool tables, darts and sometimes a dance floor if you're lucky. The bar itself has a very open floor plan so you won't feel squished all the time. & you can smoke inside so that's always a bonus. (they have those awesome smoke absorbing machines so you won't just be sitting in a smoky bar making your eyes water haha) Always great service - which is huge and hard to find at bars these days. Especially love the bartender, Tim. Such a freaking sweet heart and always makes us feel like family. This is in my top 3 local bars in Jax. read more

This was the second stop on my self promotional tour of Jacksonville. Michael E. echoed what I heard from my friends. This is a gay Cheers. Coincidentally, that's exactly how I describe my favorite bar in Atlanta. Sadly, this wasn't the same thing. Direct comparisons are unfair, but just basing it on my other experiences in town this was kind of a let down (although our bartender Jason was hot... like fire). The drinks were meh. The music was blah. It was a Tuesday night and I assume other nights might be better. It's probably a good thing it was a slow night because otherwise I have no idea where we would have parked. There are only about a dozen spaces in their lot and the rest of the area is residential. I'll be back in JAX again next week, so we'll see if things get better. read more

Park Place is such a chill lounge. We came to grab a few early night drinks and hangout. On a Wednesday night there was handful of people. Some were hanging out at the bar talking, others were playing darts and then others played pool. My friends and I played pool and it was really fun. This place is fairly open and also has a small dance floor type area for busier nights. I can see it as a good pregame spot before going to larger clubs on the weekend. I ordered a beer and, I am not sure why, but it was so refreshing. The vibe is a mixed bag and you will find all types of people here. The music they played was mixed pop with some classics as well. I like that there is a lounge place like this that is available to go to in Jacksonville on any night of the week. read more

Park Place is awesome! Only place in Riverside to get a pickle back shot. If you don't know what that is... you are SORELY missing out. You can do them with whiskey, but I much prefer tequila. Silver or gold, it makes no matter because you won't be tasting much of it! Ok so, when you order, say "tequila with a pickle back," like you totally know what you're talking about. They'll place your shot in front of you straight up with a second shot glass filled with yummy, salty, pickle juice. No lime or salt required. Do the tequila, chase with pickle. That's it. It is SO good! Something about the pickle juice 100% neutralizes the horrendous taste of the liquor. In fact, this is dangerous because you immediately want to do another one. Rookie mistake, trust me. Aside from this treat, Park Place also plays great music and has awesome bartenders. They are all pretty attractive too, but don't be surprised when they don't check you out, ladies. You're in the wrong spot to pick up a straight guy, if you know what I mean! Super fun bar though, and one I frequently pop in on my King Street wild nights. read more
