Park n Ride is a parking building in Plaza Lawton, Manila that has practically become a white elephant. If not for the handful of businesses renting the ground floor, this facility would be a total bust.
So what happened here?
The place was originally intended as the last stop of provincial buses as well as a terminal for the same buses taking passengers back to their home destinations. For some reason, the bus operators do not relish the idea of parking here.
While there may be a few bus lines that use the parking building, for the most part it is empty. It can be put to better use, unless both the city and national governments find out why the operators prefer to park elsewhere. It's centrally located which is a good enough reason for provincial buses to use it.
It may even be converted into a private parking for passenger cars, jeepneys or shuttles. I often ride the SM Manila to SM Bicutan shuttle, which uses the former as its de facto terminal. I see no reason why the shuttles don't use Park n Ride, unless the owners and drivers have safety concerns.
The place does look kinda spooky, even during daytime. read more
