The hiring process was simple and the typical paper work required to work there. In addition you are required to take a sample tests to gauge your knowledge of the subject you wish to tutor. The advisors will provide with whatever you need in order to enhance your teaching by any means. They have gone above and beyond for me to the BEST of their ability. Downsides: Like any other tutoring gig, you'll get a student if there is a need for a subject. My speciality classes I taught were: Global and United States History Regents, Biology Regents, 3rd grade to 5th grade English Language Arts. However, the need at the time was normally Math and Science. So if you specialize in these areas, please apply here. Granted, you need to constantly contact the place and speak with the supervisors to see if there any available students. Advice for tutors: Be passionate about your subject, LOVE what you teach and do it for expertise in what you know. NOT FOR THE PAYCHECK. If your passionate of what you love, make it fun and enjoyable, I can promise you the students will look forward to coming back to see you.

The tutors explain every concept clearly and give you strategies that actually work during real exam conditions. My confidence grew so much because they taught me how to manage time, eliminate wrong answers, and approach each section with a plan. I would absolutely recommend Bright Leadership Academy to anyone who wants to boost their SAT score and feel truly prepared.

So you're going to have a kid! That's cool. Among the hundreds of pieces of advice you're going to…read moreget, people will also tell you to take a birth class. If you take it at Parent Craft, that was good advice. Our class was small (three couples) and intimate, just the six of us in Casey's home. Casey graduated the nurse-midwifery program at Columbia, and accordingly has lots of letters after her name (CNM, RN, MSN, BSN and LCCE). She is knowledgable, sweet, funny, and a surprisingly gifted actress when it comes to imitating birth sounds. With the RN and the midwifery background (as well as years of experience dealing with intense Park Slope parents), she has both the clinical medical knowledge and the hippie sensibilities that many of us are probably looking for. No judgment either, just education. The one-day intensive birth class was full of useful information. Casey will take you through the whole process (while drawing fun diagrams), and answer all the questions you've [n]ever had about birth balls, spinning babies, water breaking, comfort measures, breathing exercises, positioning, stages, forceps, poop, epidurals, pain medications, episiotomy, hep-locks, cord-clamping, and more. Did I fall asleep during one of the videos AND the guided meditation? Yes, but I don't recommend taking a 7-hour class after a red-eye. Was our entire birth plan was thrown out the window where it was run over by a garbage truck thanks to circumstance? Absolutely. But I'm still glad I learned things here at Parent Craft. You will be too.

I called Casey to ask about this group I heard about from other new moms and she was like a breath of fresh air. I showed up to the group with five other moms a week later and I knew I was in good hands. This group focused on feeding and just the basic struggles of being a brand new parent and not knowing much at all. I came out of the last group four weeks later a new person. I felt confident and I had a new group of incredible women to fall back on. I highly recommend giving Parent Craft a try.

I am extremely disappointed in how my son was treated at this school. From the beginning, he was…read morerepeatedly blamed for hitting, as if he were the only 4-5-year-old engaging in behavior that is developmentally normal for children that age. My son was honest with me--he admitted when he hit, but he also told me that other children hit him as well. The school only seemed to care when he reacted, never when he was on the receiving end. Rather than working with us to support growth, accountability, and improvement, the school chose to focus solely on my son's weaknesses while ignoring his strengths and progress. Children are still learning emotional regulation at this age. What they need is guidance and fairness, not labeling. One of the most troubling moments was when another parent contacted the principal to say they did not want their child playing with my son and the school allowed this behavior instead of shutting it down. That sent a very clear message about whose comfort mattered. As a veteran who served this country honorably, it was extremely frustrating and painful to watch my child be treated unfairly in an environment that claims to uphold values of compassion and morality. My son is not perfect, but he improved significantly and yet it felt like decisions were being made out of spite rather than care. It is also impossible to ignore that my son is Black in a predominantly white school. The picture that was painted of him by staff was far more extreme than the child I know at home, and that raises serious concerns for me as a parent. I regret ever placing my son in this environment and have since apologized to him for believing this school would be a safe and nurturing space. I would not recommend this school to families looking for fairness, understanding, or true support for young children.
