You have a wonderful way of listening and assessing and getting at the root of issues in a warm and open way. And now I know about you too! You are one intelligent, knowledgeable, nutritionist! But you are more than that! What I learned first from you is nothing is fixed immediately. Although sometimes it is! You helped me see that, and you taught me, by your example, of perseverance, patience and knowledge, - to not give up. And if I was giving up well- you were NOT!. You are resolute in finding solutions if it's a new issue, or even if it's an old issue - and we try again in new ways. This is key for me living healthfully and comfortably with you, Julie Scott, by my side. I always feel you are ready to listen, figure things out together, ready to share your thoughts, and ready to search for more information to help me. I would beat myself up because I'd constantly ignore the guidance in my head. Jenny has taught me to step back and stop over-complicating things. I know now that I was fooled by a lot of facts (some out-of-date) that circulated in my brain about nutrition. With her guidance I tossed some of my preconceived notions and made room for fresh, simpler nutrition data. Jenny has opened my eyes to a new way of recognizing healthy food choices. I shared with her my interest in resource conservation & sustainability and I've learned more about the connection between good food choices & a healthy planet. That has helped me be more invested in the choices I make about what I put in my mouth! Also, I've been practicing slowing down and being more present while I eat. Nico was super nice in the beginning, but as time passed, he started being pretty rude and condescending in his replies to me. I'm sure coaches are constantly being tugged at, but I don't feel like my questions were stupid or out of line, especially for a newbie. After about 6 weeks, I decided I didn't feel comfortable proceeding with a person who didn't welcome my communication.

I signed up for 10-week course this summer and I enjoyed every class (two-hour class per week)…read more The class has a very casual setting and comfortable atmosphere. I interacted with two sets of instructors and assistants over the course and they were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The recipes of the week are e-mailed to the students ahead of time. The summarized instructions are given in the beginning of every class. There are many demonstrations as well. But the best part is the actual hands on cooking! Usually we get all the chopping and slicing done first then move onto mixing and sautéing in groups of 3 to 4. At the end of the cooking, we all sit down around the table and enjoy the meal. This is a social cooking gathering!! Lots and lots of fun :-) I loved all recipes selected for this course with a couple of exceptions (not bad but less interested ones to me). They are not overwhelming and never called "hard-to-get" ingredients, so I actually recreated more than several recipes at home! I highly recommend Homemade Cooking!
