I was left with uneven, jagged ends, and the left side is noticeably longer than the right. I'll have to keep my hair pinned back until it grows out enough to be fixed by a stylist experienced with bobs. Save yourself the trouble if you're looking for a short cut. What's so disappointing is this stylist and others at Kut Haus have done amazing work on my hair in the past. I've been coming here since 2019, but unfortunately after this past experience I'll be looking elsewhere. It might have just been an off day for the stylist which resulted in a jagged uneven cut for me.

After seeing the low maintenance balayages on Frank's Instagram I excitedly made an appointment to…read moreget my hair done by him last year in 2025. Reservation fee: He required a $50 reservation fee via Zelle, that went towards service. Franks assistant might work on your hair with him and in his place: He used me to train his assistant, Eliana, how to do the balayage with him and also in his place when he needed to tend to another client he was still working on. She was sweet and helpful, and the highlights turned out good under Frank's supervision. He uses a method of teasing the root, spraying it with hairspray, and then applying the lightening mixture, to get that seamless look. Eliana also did my haircut which was unexpected since I booked with Frank, not his assistant. It took her a while to cut it, and it turned out just ok. From what she said she is newer to the industry unlike Frank with many more years of experience. Time: It took about 5 hours for the balayage, toner, and cut. Overpaying at this salon: Another stylist in the salon was rudely talking about how much more she was charging new clients compared to old clients. Frank kept a neutral vibe while she ranted on about not needing anyone if they don't want to pay her higher price. This didn't sit well due to the fact that I paid hundreds more at this salon to see Frank than I have anywhere else to get my hair done. She didn't mention anything about her expenses going up due to inflation, just that she's making so much more from new clients now. The combined total to Frank and Eliana was $562.00 for the cut, balayage, toner and tips to each. I won't be returning as the experience and result was not stellar for the premium price. For the same service, my previous hairdresser in Pasadena was in the mid-high 300s w/tip (and this was after raising her prices a few years ago- it used to be low 300s) and my new hairdresser in Rancho Cucamonga is in the low 300s w/tip.

Very disappointed with the service I received…read more This was my first time seeing Nancy on July 14. I came in with a color correction that had already been done by another stylist, and Nancy understood the color I was trying to achieve. As you can see in one of my photos, my hair had a beautiful copper tone. When I first got out of Nancy's chair, I was concerned that the ends looked very bright and red, but I understood that the color would fade, so I decided not to voice my concerns at that time. Fast-forward to August 19. I returned for a touch-up under the impression that I would be receiving the same type of treatment and leaving with the same overall color. Unfortunately, that was not the case. As shown in my photos, my hair ended up with a very noticeable two-tone color. I immediately expressed my concerns to Nancy. I was told to allow the color to fade and was even advised to wash my hair with Dawn dish soap to help cool down the redness. From August 19 through Saturday, I continued washing my hair daily in hopes that the color would improve. Unfortunately, as you can see in the photos, there was no improvement. Today, August 26, I returned to the salon hoping the issue could finally be corrected. Nancy attempted to tone down the redness, but the result still did not meet my expectations. After that attempt, I was told that the only other way to blend the copper would be to bleach my hair. Considering I had already gone through a color correction and was now dealing with damaged and uneven color, I was absolutely not comfortable allowing more bleach to be applied. At that point, I was essentially given two choices: darken the hair or pay another stylist out of pocket to fix the issue. I was already nervous about putting additional chemicals on my hair, so I ultimately felt that my only safe option was to return to something closer to my natural roots. What made this experience even more frustrating was the amount of time this situation took. I was at the salon for approximately two hours attempting to correct an issue that should not have happened in the first place. I had my one-year-old daughter with me, was already exhausted and lacking sleep, and she ended up missing her nap because of an additional hair appointment that I never should have needed. As a client, I believe a stylist should be honest about what they can and cannot accomplish. If you know you cannot achieve the requested result without potentially compromising the client's hair, please be upfront rather than continuing with chemicals and making the situation worse. After everything, I requested a refund of at least 50% of the $145 I paid because of the time wasted, the condition of my hair, and the fact that I ultimately did not receive the service I paid for. Unfortunately, my request was denied. I was told that the owner was present during the situation, yet there still seemed to be no willingness to acknowledge that something went wrong or take responsibility for the outcome. I was also told that the color issue was related to me washing my hair, but I do not believe that explanation accounts for the extremely noticeable two-tone color shown in my photos immediately after the service. The photos speak for themselves. I am extremely disappointed because the first appointment showed that the desired color was achievable, which makes it even more frustrating that the second appointment resulted in such a different and unsatisfactory outcome. For $145, I expected much better service, communication, and accountability. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I will not be returning. My advice to anyone considering this salon: make sure you are completely confident that the stylist understands the color you want and is capable of achieving it before allowing additional chemicals to be applied to your hair.

Today I was…read moresupposed to have my appointment at 5PM but I called in to push it back until 5:30PM because I was running late. The woman on the phone sounded hesitant but agreed anyways. When I arrived, the woman was the ONLY employee and she was already working on a customer. She was very kind but I'm afraid that the employees that helped me schedule my appointment did not do their due diligence prior to my service. I have very kinky and thick hair. When I called to make my appointment, I was very clear about having a stylist that knows how to work with curly hair and if they'd be available on the day of my appointment because I was on a strict schedule to make my flight to NY. While the woman was working on her other customer she was explaining to me that she doesn't work with curly hair and wouldn't be able to give me the look I wanted which I understand--not everyone knows how to work with my type of hair. Instead, we settled on a wash and style with my natural hair. But with her still working on the other customer, I had to wait 50 minutes before I realized I was going to be to my flight. I'm very disappointed with my experience because I was relying on this appointment to perfect my look for my NY trip. Grateful that the employee was transparent with her work style as to not waste my time but I will not be coming back. If you choose to come, stress the importance of your preferences so you are not disappointed like I was.
