This is one of my favorite places to come to! We needed to eat, so why not head over for a banh mi. I got a grilled chicken and I love the warm toasted bread! So good! But my favorite is their pandan cake! A bunch of them had come out of the oven and were cooling. I asked the friendly worker if it was possible to get a couple of slices and he said yes! I was soooooo happy! The cake was still hot, not warm, but hot and it was soooooooo good! I also got a thai tea! Great place to come to and it's sort of hidden from the street, but once you find it, you'll be glad you did!

By far my favorite banh mi shop in SD. They dont accept credit cards but they do venmo and zelle. The bread is great and they stuff the banh mi as well. I got the crispy pork belly and it remained crunchy which is some I appreciate. All of this at a reasonable price! They also have alot of other options besides banh mi in the side fridges. Highly recommend trying this spot out if you want a quality banh mi!

Came again in the afternoon on a Sunday. Ordered the chicken banh mi with no mayo again. This time the chicken was delicious! You could tell it's made in house and the texture of the chicken was really good and well seasoned. Note that they only take payment as cash, venmo or zelle. $8 for my chicken banh mi which isn't too bad!

Parking 3/5 -Free plaza parking lot but not the most convenient design to move in and out of Service 5/5 -Ordered at the counter and got our sandwiches quickly, staff were kind enough to accept substitutions(no cilantro, no jalapeno) ***cash and Venmo only*** they do not accept cards. I also think it's really considerate that each sandwich comes with its sticker that labels what it is, small detail but makes a big difference when you order a bunch of them! Food 5/5 -#1(house special), their baguettes are all made in house and they actually supply them for a lot of local restaurants as well! The house special has variety of cold cut meat with butter and pate, it's the perfect summer sandwich for me. I also love the pickled carrots and daikon making it more refreshing. This is my go-to place for banh mi in San Diego. -#13(crispy pork belly), this sandwich in comparison is more savory and of course more crispy because of the pork belly. The fatty is balanced by the pickled carrots and daikon, I recommend this if you're looking for something that's heavier. Also, would be better if there's more crispy pork belly than like 3 pieces. Ambiance 4/5 -No frills bakery with the option to order food, most customers are here for grab n go, there are a couple tables if you do want to sit down and eat.

Stopped by today to pick up some bánh mì, fresh sugarcane juice, and chè. Everything is made to order, but the service was still quick and efficient. We came about two hours before closing, so it wasn't too busy, yet they still had a great selection of food and drinks to choose from. The shop was clean, well-maintained, and made for a pleasant stop. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm craving Vietnamese snacks and desserts!

We usually stop by here when my kids have a game or function at Hoover High School. It's about a mile walk from the school, and we usually walk because we don't want to lose our parking at the school. Paris Bakery has a wide variety of items, including baked goods, sandwiches, and other hot foods. There's a lot to look at, and I liked seeing the different desserts, packaged pastries, and grab-and-go items. Some items are labeled, which helps, but not everything is, so I did have a few questions while ordering. One thing to know before you go: they only accept cash or Venmo, so come prepared. For food, the bánh mì had a nice crispy bread and generous filling, and we also picked up some fried pastries to go. The part that has been the hardest for me here is the service. I've tried asking questions on different visits, whether they were busy or not, and I often felt like I was bothering them. The responses I got were usually along the lines of "everything is good," "what do you want," or sometimes they would walk away before I could finish asking. What stood out to me is that after checking their Instagram, I realized they have a sister business in Mira Mesa. I've been to that location before, and even when it's busy, they've answered my questions, made suggestions, and made the experience feel much more welcoming. It's smaller and usually busier. There are a few tables to sit inside. Overall, Paris Bakery has a lot of variety and is a convenient stop near Hoover High, especially if you want baked goods, sandwiches, and desserts all in one place. I just wish the customer service felt a little more helpful and welcoming.

A review for this neighborhood gem is LONG overdue! My husband and I have been coming here for nearly 20 years and now that the next generation seems to have taken over the helm Paris Bakery has definitely upped their game -- better service (it was good before, even better now), consistent banh mi preparations (ratios, flavor, freshness), the best/softest baguettes in town, buttery-flaky-tasty pâté chaud (small meat filled pastry), and their strong and delicious cafe su da (Vietnamese iced coffee) is always a nice treat. They've added large refrigerated cases where you have a variety of Vietnamese desserts (chè and bánh) and other items for purchase to take home. Everything is prepared to-go; there are a couple of tables if you can't wait to get home to enjoy your goodies, but make sure you clean up after yourself -- no one will be waiting on you. So if you're in the area and craving good banh mi with the best baguettes Paris Bakery is your place.

I was honestly surprised to see such low ratings for Paris Bakery since their sandwiches are always talked about and their sister spot Paris Sandwiches usually gets high reviews. A lot of the negative comments mentioned cleanliness and inconsistent service, but I did not experience those issues during my visit. Paris Bakery is located in a small block in Little Saigon. There is enough parking, but the lot is narrow. The space itself is bigger than I expected because they offer so much more than just banh mi. They have housemade pastries, pates, Vietnamese desserts, and drink options. Large refrigerators line the walls with housemade ingredients you can purchase, like their pickled daikon and carrots. MMmm yum! There are several TVs displaying the menu. The banh mi screen stays still, but the drink and pastry menu rotates quickly, which made it a little hard to decide on a drink because the options moved so fast. After debating for a bit, I ordered the #13 crispy pork belly banh mi and a small kumquat sugarcane drink. My husband got the #1 house special. Just a heads up, they only accept cash, Zelle, and Venmo. The couple in front of us took a while to pay, so the line built up a bit. Thankfully, a woman from the sandwich station came over to help us so we did not wait too long. I requested no jalapenos on my sandwich and she nodded. Our total was around $23 for two sandwiches and one drink, which felt reasonable. While waiting, we looked around at the other offerings. I saw Sam Bo Loung and Che Thai, which made me want to come back just to try their grab and go desserts. There are only about three tables inside, which makes sense since most people get takeout. Within five minutes, our order was ready. The sugarcane drink was sweet and refreshing, but I did not taste much kumquat even though one was placed on top. I also would have preferred more ice, but that is personal preference. My #13 crispy pork belly sandwich was delicious, but I did receive jalapenos despite asking for none. They were a little heavy handed on the mayo too. That said, the pork belly was super flavorful and juicy. Combined with the fresh veggies, it was a flavor packed sandwich. The house special was simple and classic. The pate was lighter than other places, but I appreciate that it is housemade and unique to them. It was good, just not something that WOWed me. Overall, I had a great experience. The workers were kind, service was quick, and it was an easy and delicious lunch spot.

Paris Bakery banh mi has declined for me over the years. We gave it a try 3x and each time was a bust. The bread was super hard like a rock. Their house made bakery items and pre packaged hot foods are still decent. You will notice local super market carry their items as they are also whole sellers. Today we came specifically for the baguette. The inside has been updated with 3 tables, the center has new shelves and stands to display their pastries. Much cleaner. Parking lot issue is still an issue when it's crowded.

Je voudrais un Banh Mi, s'il vous plaît. Paris Bakery is a small bakery shop that offers a handful of french things: madeleines, sweet or savory croissants and baguettes for Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwiches. The main specialties the various Bahn Mi, coffee and tea drinks and lots of Vietnamese/Asian baked goods, most I haven't tried, perhaps someday on my next visit. This baker has limited parking in their lot makes it convenient, as well as being open super early 05:00a. Service is helpful and they accept cash and Venmo. It's been over almost 2 years since my last visit here. It's not fancy, but upon entry, the shop looked brighter, cleaner and more organized. I recall seeing only 2 small tables inside. Mostly the set up is for togo orders. I usually pick up a baguette, because I make my own version of Bahn Mi, with organic ingredients and fromagé. When available, the sesame balls filled with golden mung beans are scrumptious and irresistible. Compared with to others, I don't taste animal fat, which some other places use and that makes these sesame balls fantastic. I usually get three and regret not getting more, because my baby Fendi likes them too. Worth a visit. Recommend!

This bakery opens very early. At 5am. I was there around 10 and they still had some good food. Its limited in bakery for desserts and bread. They have good eggrolls and ground chicken in croissant pastry. Those 2 items were tasty. The cha Lua was OK. That was 9$ This place only takes cash but you can venmo and zelle. Its a quick place thats in and out. It isn't that small inside and the items are just spread all over the place. Cashiers are nice and fast ringing us up The food here tastes good so far so im sure the other stuff is good too.

Absolutely love that they open at 0500 am! I can grab my lunch from there and head out to work or the gym after. They are located on 4616 El Cajon Blvd, Sd CA 92105. Limited parking and depends on the time, it can get packed. There is limited street parking as well. Excellent and fast customer service, they got my banh mi order in under 5 minutes. They sell so many different pastries, drinks and entrees. I tried their chicken pastry; it had alot of flavor and was delicious. Cost only $1.50 a piece. Overall very clean shop, few tables and chairs for customers to enjoy their food or drinks. Customer service is great and fast! Thanks for reading my review, have a wonderful day

I thought I'd just get the fries since cheesesteaks seem to be their specialty, and I don't eat beef. But I decided to try their Chicken Ranch sandwich. The sandwich was better than I expected. I was picturing the basic grilled chicken sandwich--a piece of grilled chicken on a hamburger bun. Instead, it was loaded with tender, flavorful chicken, bacon, white American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and ranch. Totally messy to eat, but in the best possible way! And the Cheez Whiz fries were exactly what I was craving. They definitely hit the spot. Customer service was excellent too! So glad I stopped in!

After a six-hour tattoo session, I had earned two things: a cheesesteak and absolutely no judgment…read moreabout the amount of food I was about to eat. Being from Philly, I take my cheesesteaks very seriously. Probably more seriously than a reasonable adult should. So when I finally tried Gaglione Bros. in San Diego, I went in hopeful. First, the good stuff. The staff was wonderful, genuinely friendly, the place was clean, and there were plenty of options. They even had Amoroso rolls and fresh-shaved prime rib. On paper, we were speaking my language. But whenever I try a new "Philly cheesesteak" place, I order my first steak plain. No cheese, no onions, no peppers, no hiding behind toppings. If you want to call yourself a Philly steak shop, the steak and bread should be able to stand on their own. Unfortunately, this one didn't. The meat was heavily salted and peppered, surprisingly dry, and every couple of bites I was pulling out pieces of fat. And nothing makes you question your dining choices quite like discreetly removing a piece of steak from your mouth in public. For me, a great cheesesteak has balance. The meat should be tender and juicy, with enough seasoning to bring out the beef rather than overpower it. There should be a little richness from the griddle, the steak juices, and everything cooking around it. Then you add the onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheese or whatever your particular Philly allegiance demands. This steak just didn't have that softness or heart. It honestly reminded me more of the tourist cheesesteak experience in Philly. And my fellow Philadelphians know exactly what I mean when I say that. A real Philly cheesesteak isn't complicated food, but that's precisely why every part matters. The bread matters. The meat matters. The griddle matters. And somehow, when someone really knows how to make one, you can taste the heart in it. Would I try Gaglione Bros. again? Probably not for the cheesesteak. The people were great and the place itself left a good impression, but the steak didn't. Mostly, the experience just left this Philly girl Jonesing for a long weekend back home, a walk down South Street, and a cheesesteak from that place. If you're from Philly, you already know which one I mean.
