Antonio Gaudi's unique architecture was literally what put Spain on my bucket list so naturally seeing as much as we could of it was a huge priority. We did a Spain Portugal tour from Go Ahead and added couple days on both ends. Plus did the add of Guardi excursion that took us to more of his works. The guides told us alot of historical details and gave us a bit of time to look about but I would have rather had less history and more time to take it all it. so much detail. guide said this was the largest outdoor bench and it's very crowded so if you are waiting for no people in your pictures it's not going to happen. I suggest trying ai to delete the people if they are an issue for you. ChatGPT gives you some free but have to take 1 person at a time which would be unfortunate with this crowd so upgrade at least temporarily to the plus for I think 20 a month. My samsung phone provides free ai but like the other program it's pretty much 1 person at a time. Barcelona was a crowded city so if your like me and sometimes really want no strangers in your pictures try ai ... it doesn't always work immediately but usually does a great job. welcome to the new way to edit your pics. I didn't bring my real camera on this trip ... just my samsung phone which has pretty decent camera. The worlds a big place with alot I'd like to see but glad we made it here it's been on the bucket list for for over 30 yrs. This is a lovely park and in my opinion, a must experience in Barcelona. We took our two kids and they had a great time. I wish I would've bought my tickets a little earlier so that we could've gone in the morning but I'm happy we got in anyway we took our baby in her front pack, which worked pretty well but at the same time I missed my stroller, but I feel like if I would've had the stroller there would've been a lot of carrying the stroller up and down things so I'm not really sure what you do there to win. Food options were very limited inside the park, which surprised me there were some vending machines and that was kind of it so we were pretty hungry. I would pack a picnic and do it that way where I had to do it again and I would also pack the picnic before getting off at either of the two close train stations where we got off there was like nothing towards getting food and then we went on the other way when we left, and that was all just really touristy, not great looking options read more

Impossibly creative, colorful, visionary park that is a showcase for Maestro Gaudi's artistic genius, with multi-leveled perspectives of the surrounding city. If you can't walk a long distance, go to the gatehouse entrance to see the Monumental Zone that is all right there. Pop through the guard house if there isn't a long line. There are interesting shapes and structures to see throughout the park, but the big bang is the mosaic and tilework of the gatehouses, grand staircase, and curvy benches above. If it feels like you've walked into Disneyland, it's because Walt Disney was giddy for Gaudi and took much inspiration from Gaudi's works of art. Parc Guell is the og Magic Kingdom. read more

Great way to spend a half of a day. We arrived at 4:30 and left about 8. It was quite busy at 4:30 so we stayed away from the lower area and explored the top part of the park. Musician are placed strategically around the park to provide additional ambience. By the time we reached the lower area about 6:30, as the sun was going down a large majority of the crowd had already left so we had plenty of space to take pictures. You can bring food and drink into the park. I'd highly recommend this experience! read more

Parc Güell was one of the last attractions we did during our time in Barcelona. I had heard it was one of the top places to visit in the city, so I decided to book tickets and made plans to check it out. Parc Güell, like other structures in Barcelona, has major influences of Antoni Gaudí. In addition to the greenery, there are many houses and structures in the park designed by Gaudí. The park is hilly, and sits above sea level so there are excellent views of the city. That, along with Gaudí's architecture give way to a lot of eye candy. The park isn't too large; we didn't explore any of the houses and as such it didn't take us too long to walk the whole thing. You can easily spend a few hours here though - as there are many place to stop and reflect in addition to snapping pics. Overall, I had a great visit at Parc Güell. It's picturesque and an ideal outdoor activity. I would definitely return next time I'm in Barcelona to explore more. read more

To get to the park is a feat in itself! Most likely, you'll take the metro here, get off to walk a few blocks then towards some steep hills. There were a few escalators but also stairs to climb. You've got to be in good shape to make it here! But once you get up the hill, you'll be impressed with another architectural masterpiece by Gaudí! If you're coming during the summer months, I gotta warn you, it's HOT and HUMID! Don't forget water and to grab an umbrella as the sun is very intense! During the walk over, you may come across a few convenient stores with popsicles, drinks, fruits, ice cream and souvenirs. Despite the heat, I liked strolling through this park admiring his whimsical art! I love how smart his designs are. Not only beautiful, but architecturally sound making it safe and stable for years of enjoyment. This park is huge with lots of land to cover and you can easily spend a few hours hiking it. The view is spectacular as well! I tried to buy tickets on their official website but my credit card kept getting declined due to the currency and technical error. So I wrote them an email and they reserved a spot for me on the date and time I wanted to visit. Well, I reached the back entrance and had to take a walk to the front entrance to pay for the tickets I had on reserve. I believe this is the only site that did not allow me to purchase tickets until I got there. Even trying to purchase the day of on their website, I still could not do it since my phone number is not working in their country, so I could not verify by code and they did not give an email verification. This was one of the hardest attractions to buy tickets for and to get to! I would do it again, but NOT in the summer!!! read more

After watching Cheetah Girls 2, who doesn't have dreams where they're dancing around Park Guell with 'Strut' in the background. Unfortunately, this dream was shattered as soon as I stepped into the park gates. Just like the rest of Barcelona, there are crowds everywhere, making it tough to enjoy the space. If you're taking the bus, it's super easy to get to. Take Bus 24 and hop off at Ctra. de Carmel. You DO have to buy tickets in advance and come during your reserved ticket time (though the allowed time to stay isn't strictly enforced). There are three entrance points: the main entrance leading directly to the iconic panoramic views of Barcelona (aka THE strut scene in Chetah Girls 2), and the other two entrances closer to public transport stops. Most people don't realize that in addition to Gaudi designing the park, Park Guell started out as a private residential project (2 houses still exist and can be explored with an extra ticket) but due to a lack of interest from buyers, was sold to the city and turned into what it is today. It takes awhile to explore the entire park. The busiest area being the Placa de Natura / Greek Theater and the least busiest being the Aquaducts. As some would say, one man's trash is someone else's treasure, and that's exactly what Park Guell is to Barcelona. There's park security on-site, so don't be that person standing on the benches--you will get reprimanded. And seriously, throw away your trash people!! Take some time to get out of the city, get above the hustle and check out this absolutely amazing park! Designed by Antoni Gaudi, obviously, it is unlike any other park that I've seen. His wildly organic, gorgeous constructions and mosaics look stunningly futuristic despite being built over a century ago. Make your way past the colorful buildings at the base and leave the streets below. You'll be struck with just how far up this park extends. On a good nice weather day you can just sit here and take in all the nature and architecture and art. I only spent around 2 hours here that was only cause it was very hot. I went mid-July. Environment It was quite a hike (walk) just to get there. I took the public transportation. It is around 10 min walk with some stairs. We decided to visit the Parc Güell on our last day in Barcelona! I purchased the tickets online, on their website the night before for 9am. General admission 12-64 y/o: 18€, kids 7-12 y/o: 13.50€, and seniors 65+: 13.50€. I would say if there's one place you've got to visit out of all the popular sites, it would have to be Parc Güell, other than Basílica de la Sagrada Família. All of Antoni Gaudí's works are incredibly impressive, but this one takes the cake for me! One thing I didn't realize was how big this park was lol. On my first trip to Barcelona I didn't get a chance to visit Parc Guell, so when I made way back to the city, I knew we had to make it a point to make it out there. We booked our tickets online, was close to $58 USD for two tickets. We booked day of, picked a time slot but honestly they didn't even look or didn't care that we came 30 minutes early. The park itself was cool. There's a lot of history with Gaudi and seeing the sights in person after seeing them in all the travel videos we watched prior to the trip was a treat. If I'm being honest though, I'm not much of an arts person, so maybe that's why I felt it was a bit underwhelming. There's plenty of paths you can take and walk around to see the grounds. Tons of people everywhere, and trying to snap that perfect photo from the perfect spot took time but it was doable. We walked around for about an hour and we were more than good. Honestly would I pay that again? probably not. This was a one and done, glad I saw it, crossed it off the Barcelona bucket list. Just a bit steep in price to walk around a park and get somewhat of the same views of the city from any of the vantage points. I think if you are into Gaudi, the guided audio tour might be a better way to experience this parc read more

This tourist destination was on my bucket list for quite some time because I thing that Gaudi is so creative and his use of broken pieces of tiles, glass, and porcelain is just wild. I visited mid week, early in the day when the weather was perfect and not very crowded. The meeting spot for the group led tours was very easy to find by taking or the no. 24 bus. There were plenty of places to just sit and look at everything from the building structures to the landscape. There are so many "cool" places to take photos to relive the memories of what you have seen.The park did not seem too large compared to the maps and pictures I had seen. It took about 2 hours to stroll through with our guide which I highly recommend for a real education and information about the park. I used "Get Your Guide" tours and they were well worth the cost. There are three bathroom area facilities which are no additional charge and we're very clean. read more

Cute park to explore Gaudi's work but for a truly breathtaking and spiritual experience, sunrise at Parc Güell is truly special. The park technically doesn't open that early so you'll have to hike up the adjacent residential neighborhood while it's still dark. But the stillness of the early morning and views of the city waking up at sunrise was one of the highlights of the trip. Park Guell is a historic park that initially in 1969 was declared a monument of cultural interest. Thankfully in 1984 it was re-categorized as a World UNESCO site. Rightfully so as this place is huge, full of beauty, well thought out outdoor architectural design and just draw dropping at the years of work that went into this massive amazing project. We really enjoyed perusing the grounds and seeing the massive talented craftsmanship of Antoni Gaudi. It's beautiful looking down onto Barcelona from the park too! Catalonian's are very proud of Park Guell. Gaudi's home now a museum is on the grounds that you can visit. This is a must see in Barcelona! read more

We entered through the gardens instead of the front which confused me a little bit. I had no idea what this place was until we got there. It took us a little bit to find the front from the back but once we did it was gorgeous. All the mosaic work was amazing. The large room with the pillars was also very impressive. Park Guell is incredible, and a lot of people know this, so it's important to book at least the week before, at least 72 hours before you get to Barcelona. It will sell out if you wait day of visit. Like nothing, no hotdog stand (a joke, but to get the idea), no churros, no vending machines, no drinks, absolutely nothing. Definitely add this to your list when traveling to Barcelona! I had booked a tour to go around the parc days in advance. They do sell out fast so get your tickets early. You are also given a few time choices to go in. I recommend going early since it does get very busy and crowded. Also the sun is brutal and the humid is bad. The earlier the better. The tour was nice and our tour guide was very nice and funny. He told us wonderful facts about the park while we walked around. We were also given the opportunity to explore the park after the tour was over. Our guide explained that they sell about 15k tickets a day. He also mentioned that at one point tourists were talking off the mosaic tiles from the benches. Please don't do that. The park is beautiful and my photos don't do it justice but gives you some idea of what to expect. Definitely would recommend you add this to your travel list and visit. I loved the tour and my walk afterwards. There is a cross at the top point of the park with an amazing view of the city. There are also buildings(old homes) you can tour and go into. There's live music from local artists playing around the park. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and don't forget your water. read more

Beautiful park with the view of Barcelona. I recommend taking the bus because it will take you to the entrance of the park. I booked a guided tour from a tour website with the meeting point at Ctra del Carmen. I took the Metro and walking to the park from the station was a really ascending hike with lots of steps. Unfortunately, I couldn't enter the park based on Google maps because I didn't have the ticket although I had the tour ticket. I had to hike even higher around the park in the rain. Thankfully I met a local jogger who walked me to the right direction. I found a good spot to see Barcelona and the ocean. It is a huge park to explore. I recommend booking it in advance. read more

Antonio Gaudi's failed housing development. Yes, he failed up and out of this atmosphere. See, failure is good, fail fast, learn and move on. It's better to fail than to not have tried at all. Etc., etc. I'm sure Gaudi wasn't thinking this way (being a failure) when he was working on Parque Geull in the early 1900s. This park is so stunning and imaginative, it's incredibly hard to wrap my mind around it. The park was funded by Gaudi's buddy Count Guell. There are a few homes in this mini community on Carmel Hill, but the homes weren't designed by Gaudi. In fact, the museum and other things like the wrought iron fence - were not designed by him. But the stuff he did design though, is iconic and synonymous with Catalan and Barcelona. Here are my favorites: - the salamander (got here extra early to take a pic with no one around). - the snake. - the serpentine bench which is over looking Barcelona and the entrance to the park. - the columns and ceiling tiles. - the organic rock work that mimic trees. - the organic rock half pipe, if you've surfed through a wave. This little subdivision will help you get your steps in and there are inclines and it can get hot, bring a parasol (UV, light weight umbrella) if you can and bottled water. Of course, get your ticket online and come on time. Ok, I'm starting to sound like your mother. Final tip: Expect tons of people after it opens up so plan your first photo opportunity and walk directly there. That's how I got the salamander shot. Finally, Gaudi is such an inspiration to me - because even the losers get lucky sometimes (Tom Petty). read more

Parc Güelle is typically said to be a "must-do" when visiting Barcelona, and though this park is beautiful with some neat architecture, I didn't find it to be the best thing we saw in Barcelona. There are other amazing places in Barcelona where you can see Gaudi's work. Of course, I'm glad I visited but it felt like a one and done kind of place. We took a guided tour provided by Park Güell and it felt very rushed, so I do not recommend taking the tour if you do visit. My reasoning for that was you don't get enough time for photo opportunities and being that the park is so large, we didn't go back to take photos of things we missed. It's best to visit at your own pace. The work is quite beautiful and it's amazing how the park was meant to be an area only for the wealthy but was unfinished. Fun fact: Gaudi used to walk from Parc Güelle to Sagrada Familia every day...which is a HIKE. With that being said, prepare for a long walk up to the park, especially if you're taking a hop-on hop-off bus...if you have trouble walking, taxi is best. read more

The Parc is large and beautiful!! It wasn't difficult to get to the parc - just some walking, the metro and a bus! haha!! We had tickets in advance which was great, because they had a sign that said they were sold out! Also it's very helpful to have the app pre-downloaded to help walk around.
