Assumed the owners were Gujarati based on the menu, however they perhaps are from some other Northern Indian state. Vada Pav (5/5) is a quintessential from Western India particularly from Mumbai the $8 for hand helds are bit expensive. The taste however was very good. The vadas were freshly fried and super hot when ate outside on a bench immediately after. The chutneys good, but the essential is the red garlic chutney powdered seemed missing or was very little. It definitely worth the drive again for this. Kachori Chhat (4/6) with two kachoris and potato curry. Made it without yogurt to make it vegan. Overall good, but would have liked with chickpeas rather than the potatoes. Barfi Dhokla (1/5) - was a complete let down. Too dry, no flavour perhaps not even freshly made the same day. We took chutney for a buck and that didn't help as well.

Not everything is hot due to bulk cooking.  The first time the items were: fried chicken 65, chicken briyani, fried fish methi, mutton curry, fried gourd, raita, pickle, vadai, parotta, 2 gravies 1 of which is fish, pappadum, sambar, saffron payasam, white rice, buttermilk, parotta. They say they have 22 items in all. There's some variation (the second time they had pakoras). Some items may not come automatically (eg my neighbor ordered sambar, so I found out that was a thing). Buttermik (on request) is quite refreshing & cuts the chili. You get a bottle of water too.  The items are generally decent or good. Korma gravy was decent. Veg curry was good. Mutton curry had nice marrow but was super spicy. The parottas even when fresh were not that crispy or rich. The second time the parottas were even less crispy. They charge a service charge so there's no tipping. Service was quite good when I went alone (maybe as I was the only non South Asian) & they asked if wanted more & checked on me periodically.

We got the masala dosa paranthe and the Aloo, Gobi, paneer and paranthe -- they were both DELICIOUS . I would say one caveat is that the normal spice level for the masala dosa is quite spicy so you would need some yogurt along with it, or I would recommend getting no spice level for the dosa paranthe. On the other hand, the other paranthe was great--no need to change anything about it. Overall you should be aware of what time you are arriving because the space is very limited here, especially if you're in a larger group you might not find a seat. You might have to take your food to go. It's great for absolutely fresh food and very, very filling food!

Ironically since this is a South Indian place, the butter chicken was the best curry (though the chicken pieces seemed to be yesterday's Tandoori chicken & were on the dry/tough/bony & non meaty side). There was one seafood item (fish curry). Nothing was labelled & they put desserts beside food items, so sweet rice porridge was beside 2 spicy soups & deep fried bananas were beside Tandoori chicken. This led to some surprising mouthfuls. Nothing was labelled & they put desserts beside food items, so sweet rice porridge was beside 2 spicy soups & deep fried bananas were beside Tandoori chicken. This led to some surprising mouthfuls. Dosa (served to the table) was thin & crispy but tasted a bit burnt & the fermented lentil taste was not as good as usual. Parotta was really good - thin, flaky & crispy. Even when old it was still pretty good.  The fried bananas were good with sweet bananas & thin batter. Fruit cocktail was just canned fruit in diluted mango puree.
