Nothing beats a hot sausage po'boy from Parasols in NOLA! Flaky French bread with spicy sausage and all the fixings, washed down with a strong Hurricane. This is the true spirit of New Orleans and I love it. The ambiance felt like a neighborhood gem where people frequent. The service was warm and timely! Save this post for your next visit to N.O. read more

The beauty of a Po' boy comes from its simplicity. Unfortunately, my shrimp Po' boy from Parasol's simply missed the mark. I called in a to go order for a sandwich with no pickles, which of course came with pickles. Whoever picked up the phone and helped me check out was not clearly didn't care to be there. A classic order at the counter joint without much ambiance of note, Parasol's has the feel of a hole in the wall that is often my favorite kind of restaurant. The Po' boy doesn't need fancy ingredients, but it was incredibly dry and the bread was stale. The shrimps were alright but nothing special. Give them the benefit of the doubt that this was an off day. Reading through lots of the reviews, it seems like this happens occasionally. It would not be near my top recommendations for the area, but lots of people seem to love it. read more

Parasol's - Classic Fried Shrimp Po Boy - Bars Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

We were in the Garden District and were craving a poboy. I had been researching places not in the quarter and was so happy to discover this local deliciousness. We did the shrimp and catfish poboy with sweet potatoe fries. It was wonderful. It's a small place and did in fact have locals eating there-we discovered by chatting with them. Neat attached bar. My friends had a basket of some sort and the crawfish pie-they didn't care for that but everything else was good. The bathroom doors are tiny and I was shocked our friends who are 6'4" and 6'5" could get in haha but the restrooms were super clean!! Service was ok. The lady seemed a little annoyed actually-she wanted us to know our order quickly it seemed but no one was behind us. Who knows. Probably annoyed with travelers. read more

Definitely one of the best Po boys in town. We got the half oyster and half firecracker shrimp, $28 cash. I wish they stuffed it together rather than splitting it, but we ended up combining ourselves. Bread was perfectly buttered and crispy and the oysters and shrimp were fresh. I loved how they tossed the shrimp in their sauce, like a version of dynamite shrimp. However, I'm a bigger fan of the spice in the batter rather than coated, but that's just me. Bring cash for their menu price! read more

Finally made it to Parasol's... old school neighborhood bar for drink and food. I went for lunch and had the fried oyster BLT sandwich. Bottom line... it was tasty but very small. 5-6 fried oysters, some thin bacon, and L&T all on fresh white bread. It was more of an appetizer than a main. I should have ordered their famous roast beef debris po boy... next time. Setting is 1950's pub. read more

Local dive bar in the Irish channel just a block walk from Magazine street. This welcoming bar is worth the stroll to enjoy a beverage with many locals. Super chill and relaxed atmosphere. They have tons of TVs playing the game and they are a great local hangout for the college or NFL football games Their food menu is extensive. I didn't eat as we had just come from dinner but we were amazed with the sights and smells of the food offerings. Supposedly, they are known for their Po'boys. I will certainly consider the roast beef debris next time I am in town. read more

Stopped through the famed Parasol's on a slow Monday after a day of walking about the French Quarter. It was a good, divey place for both the adults and kids in our party to grab a bite. Their menu is more extensive than you might think, so make sure to peruse it. I really wanted a muffaletta, but they were out on this particular day. I assume from the past weekend of Mardi Gras. Most of us ordered some form of po boy - roast beef, fried oyster, or hot sausage - while the kids got some wings or debris fries. All of which hit the spot. It was a perfect afternoon to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Grab a table outside if you can during the spring months after you order your food in the kitchen and your drinks at the bar. I wasn't drinking at this point, but as a craft beer fan, they had quite a lot of locally brewed cans and taps, as well as a wall full of liquor. I bet this place is fun and poppin' on the weekends. read more

Google hours are different so call ahead just to make sure the kitchen is not closed. We arrived Monday night at 930 pm and the kitchen closed at 9. We came back the next day and ordered firecracker shrimp po' bo sandwiches, a shrimp basket and fried pickles. Everything was delicious! The portions were huge and we definitely could have ordered less. The loaf they use for the po' boys is fresh and soft. We wanted to order dessert and other appetizers but they weren't available like the bread pudding. The restaurant section has a seperate door from the bar section so your kiddos aren't walking through the bar section. read more

If you are looking for your dream po boy, go here for the firecracker shrimp! Perfectly crispy, a little spicy, nicely balanced flavors with the veg, and a great bun to finish it off. This was the best po boy I've had in NOLA. I also got the brussel sprouts, which was an enormous portion (awesome) but a little too crispy and oily for my taste. My friend also really enjoyed the regular shrimp po boy and coleslaw. We didn't have them but heard the onion rings are also fire! We had to wait a little while for the food even though it didn't seem super busy but it was worth it. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day, and they have a scattering of picnic tables. They also have an indoor bar area and another area where you can order that has more casual tables inside. Highly recommend! read more

I really enjoyed the Po Boy Firecracker Shrimp! It has a nice kick and zing to it! My mom got the roast beef, but I found it to be very salty (that's all there was to it). Also tried the Boudin balls, very disappointed because it just tasted burnt. So I didn't get the chance to taste anything from it. Side note: Mandatory tipping system when spending more money even if food is to-go. We spent over $100 and mandatory tipping was 20%. read more

Parasol's - Po boy Firecracker Shrimp - amazing - Bars Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

EVERYONE -- and I mean everyone -- says this is THE place for a po' boy. Well... maybe we hit it on an off day, because we left feeling seriously disappointed. We started at the bar with a couple of their "frozen" cocktails -- except they were more like room temperature slushies. The Orange Julius one tasted fine, but it was basically juice with a side of sadness. If you're gonna sell me a frozen cocktail, make it frozen! That said, the bartender was sweet, so points for that. For the food, you order from the back of the bar -- I got the debris po' boy, hubbs got the muffuletta, and we both got excited about the "Irish Sunday" potato salad with gravy (because honestly, potato salad + gravy = genius). About 10 minutes later, they called our name... only to tell us they were out of the Irish Sunday. So, fried pickles it was. Then the food came, and oh boy. The bread was just off. The muffuletta had a top crust that could've cracked a tooth, but the bottom was ice cold and tasted like day-old bread from the bargain bin. My debris po' boy was a mess -- literally and figuratively. The bread fell apart, there was barely any meat, and the fries inside (because, of course, fries in a sandwich) were either rock hard or cold. Perfect! (not!) I couldn't even finish half of it, and the pickles were fine -- but not exactly a worthy replacement for the mythical Irish Sunday. Final thoughts? Either we caught them on a bad day, or the hype machine has some explaining to do. I wanted to love it -- but this po' boy left me feelin' po'. read more

This place is exactly what I want from a NOLA dive bar/po boy place. Great prices with fantastic quality. Love the location as it is off the beaten paths a tiny bit. It's a destination but still walkable to other spots. Firecracker shrimp is great. Little bit of heat from the sauce but still crispy. Bread is firm but soft on the inside. Ordered RB poboy on DoorDash, which gave me the opportunity to say "Hold the mayo." I'm from Metairie, but no longer live in NOLA...was in town for a family event. We came to Parasol's during a work conference and the food was spectacular! The portions of the sides are SO LARGE. All of us loved our poboys but the firecracker shrimp seemed to be a crowd favorite. The only bummer were the fries, as they were a bit too salty for our preference. We definitely ordered way too much food, but so worth it. A full poboy and one side are enough for two lunch portions. Everyone was really friendly and it was so nice to eat outside. 10/10 will be back! read more

Head upstairs for food, around to the patio to get to the bar. Restaurant kitchen has a separate space if you want to bring your kids. Can order a cocktail through the window in the wall. Great fried seafood, po'boys, sweet potato fries. Frozen Irish coffee shots too! Order and pickup at the window or the bar. No table service, bus it yourself. We thought we were going to a nice restaurant and walked good distance from our hotel in the Garden District. It was a small run down bar and picnic tables out side. Once you enter the bar you walk up some steps near the back and you see a window where you can order some food. There's a few tables and it's depressing. The person taking the order seemed depressed too. Once we ordered we go to the bar. We couldn't get service. The bartender was busy flirting and after I got tired waiting my husband tried to get a drink and he failed too. We got our po boys which were ok and sat outside. Not a single waiter, no one to help, and the grubby food area was unpleasant. No thanks. read more

One of my favorite neighborhood bars in New Orleans. Great food, great service. Super chill and relax. Floyd serving food is super cool and good vibes. Get the gravy fries.. sooo good. A great sandwich spot! We loved the fire cracker shrimp since it was a good mix of fried shrimp sauce and veggies. We found the roast beef sandwich a bit too saucy, but that's just my opinion. Parasol's is a wonderful casual hole in the wall spot for Po Boys that we were so fortunate to stumble upon! The large was perfect for splitting between two. The beef was delicious and there was a ton of filling in the sandwich. The bread was perfectly crispy and crunchy.
