Cuban
Maria K.

A great casual spot by the vinoy pool. We ordered el pepino picante x2 for our beverages, which we were able to sample beforehand which was nice. We were offered the tajin rim which... of course we chose! Very tasty and strong cocktail. We also ordered the chips, salsa, and guacamole, as well as the Cuban to share. We unfortunately didn't realize the Cuban came with a Mayo+dijon mustard sauce instead of just mustard as listed, but our server quickly fixed the problem and brought us a new sandwich. Service was great, comfortable seating, food and drink amazing!

Bar Mezzo is a concept from the owners of intermezzo. At some point intermezzo got so popular,…read morethere just wasn't enough space for everyone, specifically at night. The concepts are similar, but not quite the same. Bar Mezzo is more cocktail forward, although it houses some of the same cocktails featured at intermezzo, including espresso based cocktails. It has one of the few espresso martinis in town that feature fresh brewed espresso. One of the best things about this bar is that it focuses on the art of cocktail making and features the bartenders as artisans. Every employee is the epitome of top of the line hospitality. Each cocktail on the menu is unique and you won't find it replicated locally. The menu is seasonal, so you can always try something new. It's the kind of place where you can say to the bartender "I'm feeling something gin based, maybe something blackberry flavored" and they will make you a unique cocktail based on what you're feeling, even if you don't know exactly what you want. During the month of December, they hold "miracle at mezzo"- a Christmas themed pop-up that was previously hosted at intermezzo. During the cooler months, weekends and during the Christmas popup, it's gets extremely crowded, sometimes forming a line out the door. Depending on the weather, they will open up the front garage style door for more standing space. You should expect a 30-37$ tab for two cocktails, or maybe 15-18$ if you catch a happy hour special.

My favorite place for a fancy cocktail! Great music and good vibes for a weekend night out!read more

The whole space is effortlessly beautiful without feeling intimidating. Warm lighting, open kitchen energy, gorgeous plating, and a crowd that somehow all look like they have excellent taste. Very elevated coastal Mediterranean dinner party energy. The menu changes often, which honestly makes the whole experience feel even more special. The house made pastas, seafood dishes, and anything involving fresh bread seem to have people fully obsessed. Also hearing consistently dangerous things about the whipped feta and crudo situation. What I love most is that nothing feels overdone or overly trendy. It's refined but still relaxed enough that you can actually enjoy yourself instead of feeling like you're at a performance. Definitely one of those places where dinner casually turns into a three hour event and nobody's mad about it. He made sure the wine bucket was filled with ice. We started with perfectly shucked oysters and grated horseradish, not out of a jar! The crudo was also a good start. I love Cacio e Pepe but I didn't catch on the menu about have mushrooms. It was still good. My wife got the Tagine which was Monk fish, which is a flaky white fish from Florida, and vegetables. We sat outside which is perfect for watching the parade of people on Beach Drive.

Date night with my lady - tried to make a reservation on OpenTable but they were all booked up. We…read moreshowed up right after they opened and were given the option to sit at the bar or take a table that we might have to give up when the reservation arrived later - took the bar. To drink - the "Osaka Mule" and the "Shiso Heavy". Both were good, though we recognized that the Osaka Mule had a slight edge on the Shiso Heavy. Neither of us are normally sake drinkers so this was nice and refreshing for us - the Osaka Mule had nice hints of cucumber and the wasabi salt on the rim was a huge hit with us. To eat - we ordered the gyoza and the miso udon. The gyoza was incredible - an explosion of flavor unlike anything else I've had in a long time. Truly unforgettable and honestly the best part of my entire weekend. The miso udon was good as well - my partner thought the udon might've been just slightly overcooked. We split both and then decided to order the gyudon as well afterwards. The gyudon was also very good - daikon radish was a great addition to the flavor! With respect to the atmosphere/ambience - it's a small place, but cozy. The music was nice - the bartender allowed me to browse some of the records. They have a great collection and I enjoyed listening to several of their selection! It was a little pricy for me, but ultimately, to be expected of such a great experience. Will return again!

Stop one on our date night…read more In Between Days on 1st Ave S is a must. We walked in not knowing what to expect. Casual is accepted but I would opt for a little more on the business casual side in the evenings. The drink flight was a whole experience; in the best way possible. We then ventured to their "cocktails" which is all sake based. I opted for the Sangria and Pete got the Mule. Both are highly recommended to try! We decided to share a plate so we could try another location after, but let me tell you.... The Gyoza is so good I had to close my eyes and chew as slow as possible for fear of the flavor leaving me. Did I mention they received a spot on the Michelin guide this year?! They definitely deserve it between their rotating menu and creative cocktails, this is definitely not a one and done location. Bring the expectation and leave satisfied.
