I have been a patient of this gastroenterologist for over five years, and my experience has consistently been excellent. Despite maintaining a very busy practice, he has always made time to see me when I was in distress, which speaks volumes about his dedication to patient care. He is extremely competent, as well as kind and compassionate--qualities that are not always easy to find together. I have always felt that my concerns were taken seriously and addressed thoroughly. Equally important, his office staff has been responsive and accessible whenever I needed assistance, which makes a significant difference in ongoing care. For patients requiring routine procedures such as endoscopies or colonoscopies, the convenience of having a surgery center located right next to his office cannot be overstated. Rude staff, when you need to speak to he office manager for a complaint, they will transfer the call to a voice mail, that never respond, Dr. Rahal does not care to take the quality time to talk to you, he rushes through consultations just to get to his next "money making patient" you are just a number, you never get a follow up call, form anyone, I had an endoscopy, the next day I woke up with fever, and they told me to go to the emergency. read more

The worst kind of operation. There were 50 people waiting for the doctor to see them. Minimum wait here is .3.5 to 3 hours to completion. My appointment today was 1:30, they called me to take my vitals and sent me back to the lobby to wait another hour. I left the office at 4:00! Everyone was upset. The lobby was so hot for the number of people. They're horribly disorganised. Staff are intimidated you can see. If I did not say anything, I'd still be there till closing. I HATE him and his daughter. They're not professional. They're very selfish and book 10 people for the same time. I've never experienced anything like this until now. I've left Dr. Rahal's care, I no longer feel comfortable with the level of care provided. As mentioned in my previous review it's a very long wait to see Dr. Rahal. Plan on waiting at least 2 hours to be seen. I was hesitant to have a procedure done here due to the number of reviews I've seen where people woke up during a procedure and experienced pain. It's not something you can just ignore and a personal friend of mine experienced this and was told they were "dreaming" or "hallucinating" it and were herded through like cattle with the other patients. My primary reason for leaving is Dr. Rahal doesn't seem interested in caring for my condition anymore. The last 2 times I saw him he continues telling me I'm too young for this condition and we should just go talk to the surgeon and schedule surgery to fix it. Over and over again he pressures me to take a surgical route. I've spoke to 2 other doctors including my new GI who think that's outrageous to perform an invasive surgery on a young patient who's bouts with the condition come 6 months or more between and are very mild. I'm taking a cautious approach with diet and lifestyle changes and managing it as it arises and it's very very mild so I can't understand the reason or pushing so hard on surgery. It feels like he just wants to get the surgery done, collect the fee and be done with it and it didn't sit well with me. I'd advise proceeding with caution if you're seeing Dr. Rahal or considering it, there are better options out there. read more

Had a great experience with doctor and staff. Dr. Rahal took the time to answer all my questions and concerns and explained to me what all I needed to do to maintain my health and gave me a medication that has calmed my symptoms. He showed me a picture chart of what was happening inside my body. I find that very helpful in understanding and getting to know my body. His facility where I had my procedures completed was very nice and it did not take long at all. The staff had all my paperwork ready for me to sign and I was all done before I knew it. Wow, wish we would have read the reviews prior to coming in for the initial exam. Yes we waited for over 2 hours only to be seen by his PA. Kind but not the doctor I paid to see, and scheduled an appointment with. She prescribed a surgical procedure, but after reading all the reviews, no way I would ever let my love one be treated by them. Sad to say but we went to another Gastroenterologist in Bakersfield, and he was quick to prescribe a endoscopy procedure, this was for the opposite side of the problem. I was given a biopsy on my pancreas and my left because I have tumors. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Dr. referred me to Stanford, which was a good idea put the wrong NPI number and the wrong service and address on my I his office over 14 times trying to get this straightened out before my surgery, which was scheduled for January 21, 2026. His receptionists are worthless and we're waiting on a person who was on vacation to come back to fix the errors that were made by them. The person who does the referrals was not in the office in time for me to have my pancreatic Whipple surgery and my surgery was rescheduled for February 11, 2026. The errors have not been corrected. The receptionist claimed that she sent messages to Dr. Rahal, about this important matter, but Dr. Rahal was with Patient. Maybe Dr. 's office does not understand the seriousness of pancreatic cancer? I could die, waiting on them to fix the errors and for me to have my surgery. Trust me go anywhere in the world except this place. They do not know how to give the amount of medication needed to put someone out for a colonoscopy. I woke up in excruciating pain during the procedure twice. I was traumatized beyond your worst belief. These people do not answer their phone when I came home. I was bleeding. I called their office five times. Never do they call back they do not call and check on their patients this was absolutely positively the worst experience I've ever had in my life doing this procedure And believe me I have had to have quite a few considering the problems what I've had in my life, all I could say is trust me do not I repeat do not go to these doctors and even after the procedure they don't even set you up for an appointment for like four or five weeks. It's ridiculous. The reason you go to them is because you have a problem after they do the procedure they should know what the problem is and yet they let you wait over a month to even figure out when to see them to talk about what the problem is this place is a nightmare they should not be in business. Finally decided to leave and wish I came to Yelp before coming here. After 8 months of negative-ish tests, procedures, dropped appointments, never getting phone calls back, ER visits, 3 hour long waits to be seen for 15 minutes; I was told coffee was the root of my lifelong gut issue (even though I experienced these symptoms long before I started drinking coffee). To quote the care provider, "we love coffee drinkers! They fill our pockets and keep us in business. Oh you switched from coffee to green tea? Thats like switching from a gang to the cartel. I'll see you in 6 months. I just don't believe it." Just don't come here. If I could give him zero stars I would. He perforated my husbands colon during a routine colonoscopy. We tried to call the doctor when my husband woke up in extreme pain in his abdomen the night of the procedure. There was no answering service. We ended up rushing him to ER. Long story short he had to have emergency surgery and now has a 12" incision on his abdomen. He was in the hospital for a week and can't work for who knows how long. When Dr. Rahal finally called my husband he said he should not have had the surgery, that it would have healed on it's own. It was a hole the size of a quarter in his bowel! So we should risk sepsis? I will NEVER go back to this awful place! They made me wait THREE hours in the waiting room (appropriately named) before seeing a PA. Never saw the doc. I pay doctor prices, yet never see one. Day of colonoscopy, I arrived on time, yet waited for an hour to be prepped. Was very noisy and chaotic. I was forgotten about. Since I hadn't eaten in 1 1/2 days, I started vomiting up stomach bile or something gross. I called for a nurse, as I had nowhere to ummm . . . put it, let's say. No one came. They scurried me in to a small room where PA (not a doc) asked me a question or two. I couldn't understand the PA, with her strong accent and face mask. I asked her to repeat the question. She asked me if I spoke Spanish! That was a head scratcher. I said no. She asked a nurse to ask me if I'd had anything to eat that day. Ok, soooo . . . went back for follow up appt. I waited a full hour and still no doc or PA. I asked for my test results, as I paid for it, as well as that day's appt before I saw anybody. The pissy receptionist told me I couldn't have my results. But, I paid them for it. My other docs put test results on line!!! I think there's some kind of violation going on and it's punishment for vocalizing just how poorly this place is run. Seems nobody is trained properly these days, and nobody calls them on it, bc Bakersfield is always short on medical services. No wonder, those of us who have the means, go to L.A. Waited over an hour past my appt tone just to be called back. Another 45mins after vitals as only to be seen by the Dr for 5 mins. He didn't want to take the time to review any labs I specifically had done prior to The appt and the lands were the whole reason I went to see him in the first place. He scheduled the same labs as well as mentioned other procexures he wanted to get started. however after being stuck in his office for 2.5hrs...they wanted me to wait again just to get my discharge paperwork. After 30 more mins I couldn't stay and had to leave to get my kids from school. Long story short it was a huge waste of time only to get absolutely nowhere but back to square 1. I had a colonoscopy done at this Dr office July of this year. I woke up during the procedure. I remember waking up due to pain and feeling the scope. I told doctor it hurts. Nurse told me "don't move don't move". That's all I could recall. I called doctor office the next and spoke with office manager regarding my experience. Went back a few weeks later to get results. I would give this horrible excuse of a doctor negative stars. I should have done this review several years ago. This doc did a laparoscopy on me and took a chunk out of my esophagus. I was in critical condition. When this happens you only have 24 hours to be repaired or you die. there is NO doctor in Bakersfield that can do this type of repair. luckily for me, there was a doctor at Memorial Hospital that knew that he had to find a doctor in this state that did these repairs. LA hospitals couldn't take me, no room, but a Great Doctor in Fresno said "get her here ASAP". I was in the Fresno hospital a total of 7 weeks due to complications. Getting a colonoscopy is a rough process. The cleanse, the no eating. By the time you arrive, you are tired, Run down and grumpy. The only thing the doctor has control over is the procedure. Dr. Rahal did and his staff did an amazing job! The meds were just right, the procedure was over before I even knew he started! I felt nothing, didn't even realize it had been done! This is what matters with an invasive procedure. All these comments about wait time and the doctor's personality are silly. This doctor has an attitude problem. Dr Rahal treat patients like they are all beneath him. He doesn't value his patients' time. My mom is an 89 year old frail woman. She waited 2+ hours from her scheduled appointment time. When Dr Rahal finally saw my mom, he referred her for endoscopy without even asking my her anything let alone give her a checkup. This was upsetting because this obtuse doctor did not even glance at my mom. All he knew is that we called for an appointment because my mom had blood in her stool. He could have just referred us for endoscopy directly. My poor sickly mother did not have to wait unnecessarily at her office. read more

States there is NO WAY TO REPAIR A HIATAL HERNIA. I'm thinking he is not aware of a local doctor who is up on latest procedure to repair, and it is a reversible procedure unlike the old mesh repair. My appointment was at 2:30 p.m. It's now 4:30 p.m. I am still waiting for the doctor. They tried to have the PA come in after I had specifically requested the doc when I scheduled and verifying it when I arrived. The last time here I saw the PA and did not even receive the information that the doc had a med he wanted me on. She also made remarks that were not medically sound as there was no testing or information to support her comments. I saw my GP after seeing her and they were very surprised at the information she gave me. It was my GP that let me know this doc wanted me on the medication. It's now 4:45 and still no doc. I went out and asked the girl and she told me there were three other people ahead of us! NO WAY! All the doors were open and we were clearly the first ones here. Dr. Rahal lost his temper with us and yelled any time we asked a question. He had to call a nurse in because he could not compose himself. Said nurse also raised her voice. He told my 22 year old son that his condition was not his responsibility to treat (even though that is why we were sent to him). I came here because he was recommended by my surgeon. The first two times I came in were great. The wait was kind of long but that was okay. Fast forward to last week. I had an appointment scheduled for the 15th. I was called on the 14th to cancel because the doctor was out sick. After talking to Pam the office manager I was rescheduled for today. Today at about 12:20 pm I get a call to yet again cancel my appointment 2 hrs before my appointment is to happen. This is very unprofessional. I understand that sometimes you are going to have to reschedule appointments but not twice back to back. I also have stuff going on that I too need checked out which is why I scheduled an appointment. I did ask to speak to the office manager again and was transferred not to a person but to a voicemail. Once again 2+ hr wait. We got there on time for our apt. The chic who comes in asking why we're there was very matter of fact and nonchalant like she could care less. Did not listen to a thing I was telling her and just kept typing. The only sane, rational, professional person there is the nurse practitioner. We waited two hrs only to be seen by rahal for less than 3 mins. He just touched the stomach with three fingers and asked us to drink hot water. Prescribed some meds to help with constipation which isn't why we were there in the first place. We are switching drs. Stay away from him. Not worth it. read more

I had a Colonoscopy last week. The prep is awful considering I know others who have a far easier prep that doesn't include enemas. I arrived to my 1:30 pm appointment to find the waiting room packed. The receptionist was rude. After filling out paperwork, I sat until 3:30 pm without going anywhere. Finally I got called for Vitals and then back to the waiting room. At 4:15 I finally got called back where I was told to undress and the nurse pulled the curtain. Nurse not friendly. IV got started and then I got moved to a guerney.Then after a while I got moved into the hall across from the procedure room. They wheeled a lady out and me right in. They never cleaned the room. When I was done, I was rushed to dress and get off the guerney and into the wheelchair. The staff called called my UBER so early on that he waited 10 minutes and left. I had to call UBER back and ended up paying twice. OH AND the didn't even bother to go over the discharge instructions or how the procedure went. read more
