I cannot say enough wonderful things about Grant Gerhard and his partner, Betty Mazolla. Grant was…read morerecommended by our Real Estate Agent. They exceeded our expectations from the start. First, it really helps that Golden Mortgage/Summit Funding, Inc. does their own underwriting, so it takes a little bit of the stress away. The couple of times we had appointments at their office, there is a welcome sign with our names on it at the reception desk. What a nice touch! Grant & Betty were always flexible and available any time we needed to call for questions. Every Tuesday, Betty called me for my weekly status update call to either give me information, or find out if there is anything she can do for us. Betty is a superstar, to say the least. The seller's REA was less than cooperative, and full of shenanagins. Betty & Grant did not let her get away with anything. Betty said she'd go to her house to get the paperwork she needed if necessary (since they happen to live nearby). Betty was the thorn in her side, and she needed it! Betty pushed our paperwork through and was on top of every detail. We are very fortunate to have Grant & Betty on our team. Grant also stayed on top of the REA and her broker to make sure everything went smoothly. On top of it all, Grant & Betty are a lot of fun. It's nice to talk to people every week that have great personalities and felt like we were talking to friends. It also helps we got a great rate! ETA: I also went through an FHA loan (203K) initially. Not many mortgage consultants want to go anywhere near these loans because it's a very long & tedious process, and not too many have experience with them as a result. Most 203K loans don't go through because the applicants/buyers bail out due to all of the paperwork and hoops to jump through. Grant didn't even blink. He has experience with FHA loans, and was more than happy to help us. Fortunately, we were able to qualify for an FHA Streamline because the work done to the house is not structural. It's still a lot more work than a conventional loan. Grant & Betty did an awesome job dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's. If you're looking for a top-notch mortgage company, look no further! They are the BEST!

I cant say that Grant Gerhard was hard to work with but I was referred to him by the real estate…read morecompany that I worked for, and his team was great. I didn't get to talk to him much at all and I understand he is busy but I believe when I hire someone to help me get approved for a mortgage, that I would have contact with him more than once a month. His team were the ones who tried to help me get everything together as I needed it. Grant said that I would be approved for $75,000. So I put in an offer on a house and the listing agent on the property called him personally to verify that I was approved. Grant explained to him that I was approved for that amount so we wrote up a contract and started the process. I am a server part-time although I do have a full-time office job as well. Every week I was receiving a call from someone on his team to tell me that I didn't have enough money in my account. My closing costs were originally $3800 and then a month later he said I needed $7700. I questioned why I needed so much more and he said it was for the under writer to approve me. 3 months into the process, closing day came around, and he called me that morning to say that I needed an addition $4500 "gifted" to me from a family member. My family is not rich and neither am I. He said that I would not get my house if I didn't get that money on that day. After all my wasted time, he ultimately wanted me to have about $13,000 at the closing table for a house that costs $49,000. Grant Gerhard wasted 3 months of my time, let me down and wasted other peoples time as well. If you are a blue collared citizen don't waste your time with summit funding. They are only willing to work with buyers who have never had any problems with credit.

Words can't describe how thankful I am for Rudy and the Gold Star Financial team. I came to Rudy…read moreafter being turned down for an FHA loan 1 week prior to closing on my loan with another lender. You can imagine the frustration I had with the mortgage industry after being pre-approved, offer accepted, appraisal and inspection done only to be told that I was flagged in a database for defaulting on my student loans. How did something so major get past such a big lending corporation? What can I do to salvage this after around $2,000 of my money was tied up in the offer? I've been paying on my student loans, how could this be happening? Enter Rudy McDowell. I found him online where he had answered all of the above questions on a blog that looked like it had a ton of interaction over the past 3-4 years. It was a bonus that he happened to be located in the same state as me, so I figured I'd give him a call - what did I have to lose? When I entered his office, I immediately felt better about my situation because Rudy laid out a game-plan on how to make this work. The prior lender would ask for a document here and there, but never told me why they needed that or explained what the process was, always leaving me in the dark. Knowing my game-plan, I simply followed his advice and the rest is history. All along the way, Rudy kept me in the loop as to the progress of my loan and if I had a question or needed advice, Rudy would easily be reached by email, usually answering within a few hours. I'm pleased to say that my wife, four kids and I are currently in our house and couldn't be happier. It's been a long journey, but as Rudy told me, "It's not how you start, but how you finish" and to enjoy the close because that's what you'll remember the most. He's right, I'll never forget signing that last piece of paper, getting handed the keys, and getting the congratulatory handshake from my realtor, knowing that it's because of the hard work and persistence from all that my family is able to move into a place called home. Thank you Rudy. Eric
