Visited September 18th in Oroville…read more This is my first time here and I needed a quiet place to do some paperwork. I noticed they had several computers as well as printers to use. They have a children's room towards the back and the place was clean except for the ladies bathroom that wreaked of Marijuana! I liked that they had a security guard on duty as there is times when I have drove by and saw some homeless people hanging outside. The staff was helpful and polite. They had alot of books to choose from and some people were even playing chess! Plenty of quiet areas to sit and do your homework or read a book! Plenty of parking and I got my paperwork done without distractions!

This goes on for more than an hour, no library staff ever steps in. Even when kids aren't crying, mom talks in loud "living room " voice. How would kids learn if parents are just as bad -worse, as they should know better, and have consideration for the rest of the library guests! If you can't respect and share, please go somewhere else that's appropriate for your behavioral habits, or stay home. I don't look forward for the people she is grooming to run out society in the coming years. I have about as much respect for her, as she has for us, and the rest of the library guests. Another mom that shouldn't be. However, I cannot blame all on her, she was simply the most stressful, and greatest cause of distortion. She even let her kids run around, yelling. Eventually, she yelled back! Try providing an example, by communicating to them in a whisper, and take them outside, fir a bit too explain our discipline. Library staff is just as much to blame. Never once did they step in! Most other people seen to talk in normal choices, too, rather than whispers. Unbelievable! This Library is noisy, distracting, and a stressful environment to be in. Far cry from what it's supposed to be! Staff seems rather useless, unless it's too tell adults that they can't sit and work in the quietest section of the library -that's reserved for teens. Go figure! Better off going to any coffee shop! I pay taxes for this resource, and it's not run properly. In fact it's likely by non-taxpayers who are ruining this resource, as they exhibit have little respect it, other people, and all they get free! Hard working legitimate taxpayers, are required to be mute outward looking, just to keep their jobs. I would remove support for this resource, if I had the option. Better, though, I'd say keep the resource, but run it properly. It just might raise the baseline of the community as well. Please, people be more respectful.. learned to act appropriately, throw a random act of kindness, take initiative and responsibility! I can only hope this give someone food for thought, and do something to uplift the standards. It benefits Everyone. Even the worst offenders. Character building is always good.

It's a functioning library (part of the Nevada County library system) and historic building. The library is tiny. The first floor has computers and laptops, magazines, newspaper, fiction and non, music CDs, and movie DVDs. They have a self checkout. Downstairs in the basement is the children's section. The library hosts children's programs. There is no dedicated parking lot, it's all street parking. If you are in the area and appreciate historic buildings, drop on in. The librarians are use to folks stepping in to check out the architecture and to use the restrooms. But do keep in mind it's a library.... ssshhhh. HISTORY lesson: It was built in 1915 with a Andrew Carnegie grant. He funded the construction of about 1700 American libraries during 1883-1929. Grass Valley was awarded $15,000 which is equivalent to about $380,000 today. The town constructed the library near the childhood home of its distinguished citizen, Josiah Royce (1855-1916). The library branch was named in his behalf as well. He was born in Grass Valley. He was a smarty pants, a world renown philosopher. He was a Leading proponent of his time in Absolute idealism dealing with the meta physical view. Huh!? That is too academic for me to understand. He graduated form UC Berkeley and went on to teach at Harvard.

The College of Agriculture helped me significantly in learning advanced concepts in regards to Plant and Soil Science as a transfer student from a community college. The job I currently work at aligns quite well with the curriculum taught by the dedicated professors both in general education and in the college itself. The campus itself is gorgeous all year long and the surrounding downtown area provides many helpful services to make life happen. The outdoor areas too are wonderful and are well worth exploring (time permitting). The financial aid package provided by FAFSA (highly recommended, if not mandatory to apply) too was something neither my dad or I expected to make use of. Not sure why some other reviewers experienced issues with the system. I experienced no problems the whole time while enrolled as a student. Perhaps my enjoyment of the experience is skewed due to the fact that the pandemic greatly altered many aspects of the university itself when I first transferred (then gradually rolled back). If I could, I would give 4.5 stars. At the end of the day, higher education is a choice, and CSUC was a great choice indeed for me!
