On that note, their flavors change and they only have one soft ice (soft serve) flavor per week. The week we went, a good amount were egg free and nut free, but they couldn't guarantee there was no cross contamination because they use the same machine. However, soft ice was safer and - thankfully - my kid was okay with that. But they were really nice and he got a tiny sample of chocolate to see if he had any reactions. He didn't! The vanilla soft serve is great! You can see the vanilla seeds interspersed and it wasn't too sweet. Perfect for little kids. I tried my share of flavors including: Licorice - I don't like licorice, but I like trying new things. If you haven't noticed yet, the Danes love licorice. I tried a sample and... it's actually quite good! It wasn't overwhelming and even complemented the ice cream. Ask for a sample and don't knock it off if you see it when you're there. You never know until you try it! Sea buckthorn sorbet - this is a bit hard to describe. Sort of like loquat but not? Subtly sweet and a slight tang at the end but nothing like I had before - but perfectly refreshing as a sorbet. Lychee - this was delicious. Absolutely delicious. It didn't hit me in the face but was almost floral? I enjoyed this one a lot! Mint chocolate - the description mentioned After Eights and mint. Lo and behold - you can see the mint leaves in the ice cream! Color me impressed! Overall, I love how they used real ingredients and how I didn't need to drink water after. You can really taste the flavors and it's really great ice cream and soft serve. Definitely a solid option for ice cream. They also have another location but I didn't make it to that one, sadly. The place has a bench on one side, counter seats on the other, and 2 smaller tables outside. It seemed clean and the staff I met three times were very helpful!

Named after the Østerbro area in which it is located as well as, ironically, owner Cathrine Østerberg whose knowledge of exotic produce comes by way of a family that launched Østerberg International Fruit Company in the 1970s, it was sometime around 17h00 on a Wednesday between lunch at Geranium and dinner at Alchemist that a visit was paid to the small shop with limited signage, the July weather seeing a few locals on a bench outside with several more lined up inside for a taste. Just about to celebrate its third anniversary, an opening collection of flavors now increased to a catalogue of nearly one hundred options with the small batch method making precisely a dozen available each day by the scoop, it was after a brief wait and several translations by the bearded clerk that samples were requested, the spoonfuls far larger than those typically presented in Italy or the United States fully coating the mouth in flavors like Lychee and Salted Licorice that were very tempting while Elderflower a bit too floral and Sea Buckthorn far more concentrated than the berry itself with a linger not unlike Passion Fruit. Charging 24DKK for one scoop, 30 for two and 36 for three, a fairly significant deal for those who wish to enjoy more at less than one US Dollar per additional flavor, it was after a few more tastes that the decision was made to go with a freshly made Waffle Cone topped in a complimentary trio, the Straciatella not unlike Gelato in terms of its density with Chocolate Chunks spread throughout while the Coffee and Caramelized White Chocolate was similar in texture with bold roasty notes, the light green Pistachio proving to be almost on par with that at Milan's Il Massimo with tiny grounds of the Nuts adding a subtle heterogeneity to the otherwise satin mouthfeel.

So when National Geographic named the Top 10 places in the world to eat ice cream, Vaffelbageriet…read moreactually ranked #9. I didn't realize I was patronizing the ninth best ice cream parlor in the world when I took a sweet-tooth respite during my leisurely evening stroll in the world-famous Tivoli Gardens last September. In fact, I didn't know the place had a name, but I just saw a herd of toddlers with over-sized cones and followed the drip marks on the pavement. Those led me to a very festive-looking pavilion with a welcoming counter chock full of sweet treats not the least of which was ice cream. Apparently, the name of the place is Danish for ice cream served in large waffle cones, which no surprise, is their house specialty. Their most popular item is the Amerikaner, a decadent-looking mountain of ice cream in a waffle cone, four scoops worth ladled with some syrupy, only-in-Europe topping, dollops of whipped cream, and a chocolate-covered meringue puff rather than the expected maraschino cherry. It doesn't look like anything I've seen in the states, but it's called the Amerikaner because it's the picture of unhealthy excess, I'm guessing. What a reputation we have across the pond. I refuse to live down to my stereotype and went for a good old-fashioned vanilla soft-serve waffle cone covered in chocolate sprinkles, large of course (see photo). Sure, it was still decadent but at 30 DKK (Danish krone) or $5.32, it was a relative bargain. And frankly, it was one of the creamiest cones I've ever had, which of course, means it's still sitting in my thighs all these months later. No matter since it hit the spot, and for Pete's sake, or I guess I should say for Per's sake, it was Tivoli, and you're supposed to have carnival food. So stop judging me. Anyway, I don't know if Vaffelbageriet is truly the ninth best ice cream in the world, but who's complaining? ICE CREAM - 4 stars...creamy excess that may give you a diabetic coma AMBIANCE - 4 stars...cute spot with plenty of seats if you need recovery time from the Star Flyer SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly servers keep you in a good mood here TOTAL - 4 stars...big globs of ice cream in a warm, freshly baked waffle cone in the middle of Tivoli Gardens...I can dig it

Hello everyone We…read morevisited the Trivoli Gardens when we were in town and that was a pretty nice theme park to walk around in. Kind of reminds me of a knotts berry farm and one of our L.A. fairs kind of mashed together. When we visited this small desert cafe my wife and I got a waffle with nutella, cream and 2 scoops of ice cream. The waffle was nice and crispy and the addition of the nutella, cream and ice cream made it just about complete. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back towards the end and ordering another! Have fun everyone!
