Four of us did the Hour before Christmas escape room and solved it with 30 seconds to spare. Cheyenne kept an eye on us and provided excellent pieces of information when requested. She also gently chimed in when we were spending too much time on something for which we did not yet have all the clues. At the end she told us about the other rooms and offered to take our photo. My first impression was, this is crazy. Who thought of this?!!! You quickly realize who are the brains in the bunch. It's like be immersed in a living puzzle and an endless maze of clues and riddles. Everything in the room has purpose and meaning which means you have to pay attention to everything. You can work alone. It's important you work together and communicate. Memory does come into play but they supply a pad for you to take notes. On every wall there are object that essentially are puzzles to solve. We didn't successfully complete the rooms. We did our very best, but we will be back. This is an amazing place. Jasmine was our game master and she was awesome. Escape rooms are great fun for a group. paradigmQ was quite the drive from where I live in Beaverton but had to try when they had the fright before Christmas themed room. From the outside, the shop doesn't stand out too much, but once you go in, it's a very clean and spacious lobby with a very cool and large logo with an illuminated background. It makes you feel like you've entered a mysterious space. They have you sign in and do a waiver and also promotes safe precautions. They had us wash our hands before starting and ensured us that the room was cleaned prior to us entering. You get an hour to do the room and it was nicely decorated for the theme. I will say it was a simpler room than other ones we've done. It's a small, maybe 30' x 15' space with fairly straightforward puzzles. If you're looking for a more casual experience that'll still get you thinking, I would recommend doing this room with ~4 people. There was one puzzle (ornaments) that we weren't quite fond of, not because of difficult, but the design. I'll leave it at that as not to spoil anything :). read more

Our group has played escape rooms across the U.S. and we really enjoyed Sasquatch at ParadigmQ. The theming was unique, set design was immersive, and the room struck a great balance of traditional lock and key with more high-tech puzzles. My family and I came here for an escape room and it was a really great time. The host was super animated and knew the prep speech down cold, and helped bring some humor and answer questions. He was launching two groups at the same time, and did a really good job tailoring little details to our verses theirs since we had different missions. During the event, he was very present and helpful - jumping on the mic to call out noticing we were stuck on something, but making sure we wanted a tip before offering it. We only needed help a few times, and managed to complete the mission with a few minutes to spare! I've done three or four rooms now all at different locations and this one was probably my favorite. Game master was fake nice. He was late getting to our room and we were left sitting in the lobby for almost 20 minutes. We were told to show up 15 minutes early to be helped at 5:38 for a 5:40 room. I asked why he was late and would we get our full time. He was like we are short staffed and have to have lunch sometime. No apology. When I asked about the prison heist room I was made to feel stupid that I did not know they had a sister location. Game master was nice in the game and helpful. Afterward not so much. He just was pushy about booking again. When we did not he huffed off to reset the room and would not answer any questions. Had he stayed we would have booked. Had he been nicer we would have booked. These people are snobby. There is no passion from staff. They seem to not care about people just the paycheck. These are not puzzlers just employed robots going through a routine. We encounter three people during this visit all had the same snobbiness from all of them. read more

My husband wanted to book an escape room as a team building exercise for his employees. There were 5 of us in the Sasquatch room. The room was great. Lots of locks and we thought it was quite challenging trying to figure out what clues went to what locks. There was a main room and then a small "outside" room that had to be unlocked. We all had a great time! Our game master Peter was awesome! He was so friendly and helpful. He provided nudges when we were way off track and gave great hints when we asked for them. We did not escape the room in our hour time limit! We were on the last puzzle and would have escaped with an additional 2-5 minutes. We are definitely planning to return and try additional rooms. The story is cute, but the puzzles don't really connect with the story organically. It's more geared toward puzzle lovers than immersive enthusiasts. If you haven't read my reviews you have to know I LOVE escape rooms! I have done three escape rooms with ParadigmQ, a sister location to Escape Games PDX! It is located less than 10 minutes away from where I live, so the convenience is there. Their location is spot on and smart as they are right off of Mill Plain and next to a popular Mexican restaurant - so grab some food and margaritas (that is what half our team did!). Everything is brand new once you enter. Open waiting area, friendly staff and we love their introductions prior to when you enter a room. I have had Bex and Natalie be our room masters. All have been great! If I had to rate them based on difficulty here is what I think, this is strictly based on my opinion - obvi! 1) Out of the Past 2) Into the Future 3) The Hour Before Christmas I'm so happy there is another escape room in the great Vancouver area, they are creating a couple of more escape rooms in the next couple of months, so be sure to know that I'll be there once they open! My fiancé and I are traveling escape room enthusiasts and have done 100+ rooms. We completed 3 rooms at paradigmQ. While 2 of the 3 was good, I don't think any of the 3 has reached "must dos" levels for enthusiasts who travel to do rooms. First, we did Sasquatch. It was a very whimsical room and we completed it with very few hints with plenty of time leftover. It was very fun but for us, nothing was novel. We've seen some version of these puzzles in one way or form elsewhere. I enjoyed the room and would recommend to locals and people new to escape rooms Second, we did amnesia which is meant for a smaller group. I think what they realllly mean is that this is a room with significantly less puzzles. We completed the room with 24 mins left and we feel that it was way way way too easy. While it was still fun, this is a DEFINITE pass for enthusiasts. Cool theme though. Lastly, we completed the Into the future. This is supposed to be their harder room. While the construction and immersion was pretty cool and it was very heavy in tech....we ultimately disliked the room. It was difficult not in a clever way but in a very "abstract WTF this can't be the solution" way. There were maybe 1-2 new puzzles we've never seen here. I actually would recommend this room for locals...it's not horrible but it also wasn't my favorite. read more

I planned a virtual escape room for my fiancé's birthday over the weekend, I knew these types of puzzles would be right up his alley but since we aren't comfortable doing stuff in person I found this place in a quick google search to see if a virtual option was possible, and I was so pleased to find this! I was nervous/curious how it would work in a virtual environment, but they made it so smooth! It took a little bit to get our group on zoom and get the setup ready, but if you have a team that's all super familiar with zoom features this shouldn't be an issue. Our host, Brett, was awesome! He was funny and super understanding of getting everyone ready to go and seems to genuinely love his job. He was so fun to work with and made the experience so fun! We all felt it worked really well in a virtual space and we can't wait to do it again. read more

We just had our sons 9th birthday here and it was a success. We had kids from 8-14 years old and they all had a great time. The game masters Alex and Taemon we so helpful (and so patient) and really got everyone into the experience. One group did the Murder on the Express and it was difficult but at the same time highly entertaining, the rush the kids got when they solved a clue was fun to be a part of.
