Oh Lodi! it's these events that make you so amazing! I love the light parade. I love seeing all the kids on the floats and hanging out with awesome friends in front of Fields Family Winery Downtown Tasting Room & Wine Bar. This year was by far the best. The weather wasn't freezing cold as in past years. No rain either. The best float was the Pacific Coast Producers Polar Express float. It really looked like a train! We cannot wait until next year!

The first place float again this year, Pacific Coast Producers, Polar Express.

City of Lodi - Whirlwind on the vineyards land

San Joaquin Wine Valley and farmlands, vineyards and streets named after family surnames... That's…read morewhat you'll find in Lodi, CA. For a laid-back lifestyle and growing families, this might be a place you'll consider. It still has a mediocre small town feel. New residences are still being developed, so housing is available. There are a good amount of grocery stores and shopping plazas with restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, milk tea cafes, schools, and various necessary, local or daily services. There's enough. If you choose a more upbeat pace, there's Stockton southbound, or Sacramento northbound. A less busier international airport is under an hour away. The drawback is, for commutes, you need a car. The BART system hasn't extended out this far yet. It wouldn't be feasible for me to accept employment over an hour's drive away. During my visit to my sister's place, there was pleasant weather. Aside from a surprise electrical storm passing through, I saw mostly blue skies, fluffy clouds, and a bright sun. (Until this city improves their public transportation availability, I'll postpone any decision to move closer to family.) Those were, however, perfect and beautiful days at the beginning of autumn.

My wife, our 10 year old son, and I made an appointment for the three of us to take a lesson at Lodi Lake on a Saturday morning several weeks ago. We were met at the boat ramp by the crew from LDPC and immediately made to feel welcome by them. We were given instructions and safety tips before hitting the water and then fitted with gear appropriate for our beginner skill level. The LDPC crew led us on a paddle around Lodi Lake so we could get our "sea legs" before heading out onto the Mokelumne River. We were given constant, but low pressure, instruction while we were on the water and made to feel safe 100% of the time. They also took lots of pictures of our family while we were on the water and later emailed them to us at no additional cost! We found the LDPC crew to be super friendly, professional, and genuinely pleasant to be around. And, we had such an awesome time on the water, we decided to invest in new boards and all the other necessary gear after going out with LDPC just one time! After researching various options on the Internet, we decided to buy our gear from LDPC. When I called LDPC to tell them this, they offered to let our family demo any and all of their boards as many times as we wanted free of charge just so we could be certain of the gear we wanted to buy!! After demo'ing several boards, we made our selections and placed our order. The price was absolutely unbeatable (seriously, there's no way we could have gotten everything we did going with any other outfitter) and to top it off, they personally delivered all our gear to our home and gave us instructions in care and maintenance, handling, and setup!! The bottom line is that The LDPC crew is super friendly, professional, and genuinely pleasant to be around. They deliver top-notch service at crazy good prices. Go check them out, you'll be glad you did!!

What can I say about Fired Up Pizza? It was outstanding from the very first bite. The crust alone…read moredeserves praise--perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and clearly made with care. The ingredients were fresh, and watching the pizzas come together right in front of us in a mobile wood-burning oven made the experience even better. We enjoyed a Hawaiian pizza that had a little kick thanks to a sweet chili sauce--sweet, savory, and just the right amount of heat. We also tried an off-menu standout: a fig and prosciutto pizza finished with fresh greens and a beautiful balsamic drizzle--absolutely incredible. On top of the amazing food, the owners, Teresa McCord and Ryan McCord, were so sweet and genuinely customer-focused, which made the experience even more memorable. We paired the evening with wine tasting and ended up picking up a bottle for the owners of Lodi Fired Up Pizza, along with a bottle of Barbera to take home for ourselves. Such delicious wines all around. Beautiful patio and tasting room! All of this took place at Jeremy Wine Company in Lockeford. Even with a bit of wind, everyone was raving about the pizza pop-up. A total win all around.
