Kidding aside, Windmill Ranch sells Windmills and parts to repair Windmills. As a sideline, Windmill Ranch is also a tourist attraction.... for a donation of $5.00, you can roam around Windmill Ranch all you want. Call ahead, though, to make sure someone would let you in when you get there. Quite a bit of variety... small ones, big ones, tall ones, short ones. There is enough to see from the road-side, though. Take a look at Windmill Ranch's gates, they're the Black, flat silhouette objects attached to the fence gate. I didn't know anything like that existed until I rode by this display in Clements - ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/als-metal-cutouts-lockeford#hrid:zILH5LpQ435QlGm8Yb-oSw ). This far-fetched art / craft is so exclusive to the rural community, no one has even contributed an entry in Wikipedia! Frank Medina, the owner / proprietor, claims to had over a thousand of these Windmills... before his Divorce. I guess the Big "D" had an effect on his finances, that's the reason for the suggested donation. I was thinking to myself of adopting one of these puppies... but I wouldn't want Windmills sprouting up from the ground like weeds. Who would I call to Spay or Neuter these things?

I remember as a kid driving down Ben Holt in Stockton and stopping and parking on the side of the…read morebusy street and walking to check out a house that had a garage full of miniatures...a snow village if you will. I remember it being there year after year and then I heard that this year someone decided to put that very snow village in the front entrance of what used to be Campbell's in the Village. How quaint is that? We went over to check it out last night...they have actually done a really nice job on the whole thing...the entire front of what used to be the store has hundreds of miniature scenes all pieced together like a town. I bet it took a LONG time to put all of that there in the windows, so who ever thought of the idea should be given a pat on the back for bringing something so cute to Lincoln Center. We were there about 10 - 15 minutes and it seemed to draw a decent crowd even though it was freezing outside. Apparently they light the little town at 5pm every evening and it will be on display until January 6th if you want to get a glimpse of one of Stockton's Christmas traditions. :0)

Delta Reflections Lighted Boat Parade -Saturday, December 7, 2013, 6-8 p.m…read more Location: McCloud Lake at the Downtown Waterfront, mwyc.org 2013 was the 31st year for the Stockton Delta Reflections Boat parade and it did not disappoint! Lots of folks braved the low 20's frosty night air to wait expectantly for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department Boat to lead the pack of festively decorated boats. They shot their water hoses high up into the air, careful not to douse all the chilled onlookers or other boats in the lineup. They shone their green and red lights up towards the spray to create a beautiful icy rainbow. Many other entrants cruised by many dressed in Santa attire and called out gleefully to the crowd, "Merry Christmas"! The onlookers respond in kind and added a nice round of applause. The Boat Parade is one Christmas tradition I hope will always be around.

I bought a bunch of really cool items and one of them was a hand made, engraved fridge magnet. I also met several artist in ceramics and wood working who works with their craft at a shared creative space in downtown Stockton. They also had live music which I enjoyed just sitting down listening while admiring the nice waterfront overlooking the sailboat. I had a great time here and would come back again. Best of all, the San Joaquin Bike Coalition provided a place to valet park our bikes. Very worthwhile visit. Cheers!

The dim sum is always a big hit so make sure you come early before they run out! The lion dance at the beginning is always a crowd pleaser. I remember when they use to light up and throw real fire crackers during the lion dance. With the parade now on the same day is a huge plus for this event.

Getting to see the trophy was worth the 52 year wait!!!!!!…read more Its not like I am not 52 years old but it's been 52 years since the Giants have won a World Series. I was going to be visiting Stockton to see my family anyways this week when to my surprise I found out the World Series trophy was going to be making a stop in the Central Valley in my hometown! The viewing was only from 4-6pm and was at the Civic Auditorium in downtown Stockton. We arrived about thirty minutes before the viewing started and there was already a line around the block!! Orange and black was everywhere. The people in line acted like it was everyone's birthday and like we all were family. It was a very unifying experience, especially in a place like downtown Stockton. The line took about 45 minutes or maybe a hour to get through. When we got to the front they were letting groups of around 30 people inside the actual auditorium where you got to wait in another long circular line to take your picture with the trophy. You were allowed to take pictures of the trophy from a far with your own camera but when it came time to take your picture with the trophy they had a "professional" photographer who took a single picture of you. You were handed a little slip of paper with a website address and gallery number and according to the guy who I talked to the picture would be available for purchase online within 24 hours. I hear it costs 20 bucks. You better believe if I look even halfway decent in the picture I will totally buy it. They were even cool and didn't get all upset when I got behind the photographer with my cell phone to get some good up close pictures of the trophy itself. The long line was totally worth the once in a lifetime experience of being up close and personal with the World Series trophy. Long live the Orange and Black!! Gooooooo Giants! :0)
