We went to try this place out as we've passed by it before and seemed crowded, and who are we to pass up on a new pizza place.
So, they seem to have a simple menu for lunch hours (pastas, smaller selection of pizzas and paninis). After 6pm they offer a large variety of pizza options (i think they were 2 full pages of options). They offer two sizes (individual or Family). Family sized are 8 slices.
We opted for half Pappa Jack, half Warldorf. Warldorf sounded like a salad on a pizza (cherry tomatoes, arugula, pesto sauce and cheese), and the Pappa Jack was a fancy calabresa. I didnt think i would like the Wardorf pizza, but it actually was the one i preferred. The pesto (as my photo shows) wasnt the traditional green pesto sauce, so i was a little confused. Didnt have a strong basil taste. Their pizza has a ton of cheese, which i love, but sadly, as the pizza got colder it wasnt as great. Cheese just congealed....wasnt bad...but wasnt that nice stretchy oozy cheese....
We also opted to try a dessert pizza - it was a extra crispy crust with belgian chocolate and fresh strawberries. When it came out, i was bummed it was kinda small. For R$45, i was expecting a larger sized dessert. it just wasnt that impressive. And wouldnt order it again.
Overall the food wasnt bad, service was also friendly. The main let down...the mosquitos. Mind you, we sat indoors, but there were mosquitos around. I know its summer time, but it just was not good. Apparently it was an issue with the street they were on, but you would think the restaurant could work on a better prevention for the mosquitos. We also asked if they had mosquito repellent (with all the dengue craze you would think they might have it), but they said they dont. They did have those mosquito rackets (and i saw a waitress using it by the bar/drinks area), but they should either call the Prefeitura to check up on the mosquitos (if it is because of the road) and find a way to get rid of them INSIDE the restaurant.
So, maybe i would go back for pizza in Copacabana...but probably only in Winter time, when weather is cooler, and mosquitos are in smaller numbers. read more
