    They sell green gummies here!
    Monica B.

I usually wander in here when I'm waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. There's always so much to see (and buy). They have a convenient location that's across the street from the parking garage. I'm a card giver for any occasion. Their single card selection is good and I seem to find something for whoever is on my list at the time. The last time I was there, I found a cute Game of Thrones card for one of my friends. They also sell boxed cards if that's your jam. Generally, there are tables set up around the store with themed displays. They have tons of product on them that often make me smile. It's basically small gifts, trinkets, books, toys, etc. You never know what you're going to find. I recently found Pressed Juicery gummy bears, which my sister in law loves, so I bought a couple. If you're into gift wrap, they sell tons of it by the sheet! They also have section with art supplies. I've always loved passing the time in this store and can always find something to buy. As others have mentioned, the prices are a bit high.

I love it when they have a free in-store diy offering!

I was here on June 7th, 2012 and spent $26.17 on rubber stamps and a box of joke gags. Nice staff.

They had a nice selection and I could walk around getting inspiration from the paper and invitation designs they had displayed.

Tacoma was out but the sweet sales associates offered to order or call Seattle. I overheard them on the phone confirming various sizes. So I thanked them & drove up to Seattle. I noticed the Seattle location didn't have the sizes I was told, I asked the bald white guy in charge of frames/ stretchers and he claimed I asked for one size then showed me a different brand from what was confirmed over the phone, a heavy duty variety. When I expressed frustration of being told the wrong thing, he walked off pouting, didn't offer to order any for me like Tacoma did. Not wanting to leave empty handed I grabbed a couple off sizes so I can work. On my way to check out, I informed my friend of what just occured and placed the stretchers at the register. The clerk said "You need to check out over there, Sir." My flabbers were gasted! My monocle popped out! I said "Sir? I'm not a sir!". This was strange and shocking to me. So I went to the proper clerk saying "They just called me Sir. What part of me gives man? I've never been called a man." So yeah I'm mad confused as to why my petite, adorable self in pink & lilac got called a man by someone who would be highly injured if I misgendered them.... On Pride weekend of all times. And why wasn't I offered to have the supplies ordered for me? Basically I received a wild goose chase, a bad attitude, lied to about what I overheard confirmed on the phone, and casually misgendered by Seattle staff. Maybe they were mad to be missing the fun Pride parties? Ashy, chipped black nail polish, rock salt deodorant, low class. Very sad since I prefer supporting local. The Tacoma shop is a vibe with kind, helpful staff. I'll stick with them and Jerry's Art a Rama online. Don't need the funky ahh attitude when I just wanna create.

About two weeks ago, my favorite K-pop group, LE SSERAFIM, was in town and during the encore, they came out in full UW gear. After researching, I found out that the gear was from University Book Store. I really wanted to buy the hat that Chaewon wore and was able to find and buy one there. It was a University Book Store exclusive printed/embroidered on '47 brand Hat. There is a reason I am telling this story though! While I was there, I looked around and see what kind of merchandises they were selling and I noticed that they have done collaboration with quality brands such as Lululemon, Champion (reverse Weave), Adidas, '47 Brand, New Era, etc. Clearly, whoever is in charge of designing the fan gear here knows what they are doing. They also had a clearance section upstairs with items marked down up to 50%. If you're a current UW student or UW Alumni and haven't been here in recent years like me, I highly recommend checking it out. Check out my photos of all the UW gears that LE SSERAFIM members wore during the concert.

I've also noticed that books are arranged similarly to Barnes & Noble. I've been told that the books are carefully arranged and sorted via subcontracted by Barnes & Noble, so if you're interested in that, this is definitely the place for you. The prices are a bit high, but they do go back into student support and activities, so it's a good investment. Also, there is a 20% discount or specific dates and timelines along with promotionals for students. but I don't think that these discounts apply to text books. I definitely recommend a university bookstore.

I asked if there vintage spray cans were for sale and the (Asian) lady at the registered seemed bothered. I got a collection at home and wanted to know more. She then proceeded to tell me I could check the price on the bottom. Later I asked about the Ny Quill caps, and she didn't want to pull out all of them. She said "they all look the same different color". I wanted to see the difference so I asked her to pull them all out any way. I chose the one's I needed at the time. I also asked about other tools for the cans and she seemed dismissive, annoyed and bothered with an undertone voice of "I don't want to be working here". It seemed like a struggle to get info from her. At that point I wanted to just walk out but I came from another state and thought might as well just get everything here vs ordering online. I asked about my points and she said I can get a freebie. I asked to see the two different options and choose the black streaker. She literally showed me one and said they didn't have anymore and gave me the mop. It was the way she went about the whole interaction since I got there. I've been to many shops and art stores and usually the workers are chill but this experience was not that great. Like I said I like art primo one of my favorite stores been buying for at least 15 years or more. Good product customer service was wack, I think she may need some training or have the owner talk to her because it's not good for business.

I only bought two little pens and a sewing pattern, and I'm not even sure what the subtotal was. I assumed it was 75c with tax, so just in case I pulled out two dollars. The lady told me "I need 4 cents." I thought she meant the total was $1.04, so I told her "Oh I don't have coins, I'll pay with card so you don't have to make change." She gave me a pointed look and said, "...then I'll have to charge you an extra 50c" I was super confused, but that was fine. I thought it over a little, and then she told me, "Your total is only 96c" Totally fine, I gave her one dollar and told her to keep the change. Usually... you tell the customer their total and they can figure out what to give you. Not a weird vague comment. She's not mean, she helped me find a nearby bathroom, and she told another customer she's worked at a paint store before, so I think she's just... odd. I think staff needs a little more consistent training, it was somewhat uncomfortable.

They have a wide range of brushes and tools, and I appreciated their two sizes of paint pen detail bottles--perfect for writing! Nicky was so helpful and accommodating. Check out was pretty seamless, and Erica did a great job with my checkout! The prices for the pieces are comparable to ones I saw at another similar establishment, which was good to see.
