I am enamored with stationery shops since my childhood years and I like holding a hard cover journal and seeing all the various paper for writing. I like browsing the various journals, but I did not see any hardcover 6 inch X 9 inch. Unfortunately, this Paper Source does not contain large gift wrapping sheets for craft projects and/or gift wrapping. There are novelty items and gifts as calendars, daily planners, key chains, small photo albums, children games, children books, pot holders, recipe boxes or books, gratitude journals and traditional journals. My professional background experience of working for the former Kate's Paperie made me very knowledgeable about paper which Paper Source's products reminisce similar gift and novelty items. Price is range from above average to steep which does align with economic 2024 inflation era. I sorrowfully miss Hallmark brick and mortar stores. Customer service is average. This Paper Source is located inside Deutsche Bank Center (also known as One Columbus Circle and formerly The Time Warner Center) in Midtown's Columbus Circle. read more

I used to love this store, but often when I go in now the people working there seem annoyed to have customers. We interrupt whatever conversation or set up work they are doing. I wouldn't write this sort of thing normally, but this is not the first time I've left the store feeling like I was in the way,even though I'm the one spending nearly $8 on a card. Today it was two women at the register who snickered as I walked away but there is often someone else who works there who is always loudly gossiping about people. Paper Source in my old neighborhood @ 309 Columbus Avenue is definitely still one of my favorite locations. It's full of my favorite novelty items, balloons, gift wrap, and an enormous selection of greeting cards for all occasions. There's plenty of unique items to tempt me. I'm looking for calendars for myself and for gifts. Time's a flying and I'm preparing for 2022 events already. This is a great location to shop when I return to my old hood! I'm a fan. read more

I just stopped by this location for my wedding gift bags. I am a bride who is seeking creative solutions and Natalia and Renée were very helpful. They helped me create gift bag inserts very affordable and beautiful. They even created a beautiful box to collect cards at my wedding. This review is for the classes which they offer in store. I paid $30 for a card making class I saw advertised while shopping. I was sold by an employee who said she was a teacher and they're a lot of fun. I gladly prepaid, a little hesitant because it was in three weeks in advance. I received no emails in the time coming reminding me of the class, which is fine. I then showed up right on time , leaving work early. I was told by an employee they had to cancel the class because no one else signed up. I kindly asked why I hadn't been notified because I had supplied them my email and cell during sign up. She said she was sorry and didn't know. She offered to call other stores to see if they're offering the class. By this time it's 615 rush hour and I'm frustrated, I'm not trying to go to another location across the city. She then offered my money back. She was in shock how this fell through the cracks and asked how she can make it right. I'm the customer; I have no idea how to make it right. I'm frustrated I left work and and took the subway to a part of the city I don't live. I realize this is a first world issue, I can't make my Halloween cards and send them out to friends. But treat your customers with respect, our time is of value. Don't have me prepay a class you're not going to host if the class isn't full. Have us pay after the class is complete. read more

The young woman behind the register, Ashante (I think? Sorry if I misheard your name!), didn't skip a beat, responding, "Llamas aren't as popular as they were - but I have one item left," and led me directly to an adorable llama pen. Still flustered, I asked if she could recommend a good birthday present for a 7yo girl that also wouldn't create too much of a mess for the parents to clean up. Ashante promptly pointed to three craft kits on the display that she knew had received positive reviews from customers; I picked one and she rang me up with lightning speed. She clearly knew all the details about every item in the store and was able to aid me in my moment of need - what a godsend. I love this store. Definitely my neighborhood go-to for cards, craft supplies, wrapping/tissue paper, clever little gifts (stocking stuffers!), etc. My favorite section is the greeting cards - so many great options for birthdays, housewarmings, weddings etc. They're about on par with Papyrus price-wise but offer some different (and better I think!) options. I first came to Paper Source after my friend arranged for a group of us to have a card-making class, and I fell in love with this store. As a crafter and someone who loves to be surrounded by beautiful paper art, this store made me drool. The class was laid back and so fun, we were allowed to bring our own booze, drank wine, and made beautiful holiday cards under the guidance of a sweet, knowledgeable instructor. Afterwards, I could not resist walking around the store and making extra purchases. I have added to my collection, and am so happy with this great find of a store! I've been to the Princeton location as well, and in both places, the staff were friendly, approachable and went over and beyond the definition of help without making me feel like a burden. They were even very sweet with my wandering, touch-a-lot six-year old, and I felt comfortable not having to remind my daughter to "don't touch!" because the staff were engaging with her as well as my ten-year old. This store is amazing. Wonderful supply of craft materials. But what makes this store amazing is the employees. Shannon was sooo super helpful with me today. She went out of her way to explain and show me tons of wedding invitation accessories. She loves what she does and it shows! Another woman helped me after Shannon and she was also super helpful. I didn't catch her name though! They really went out of their way for me. I will definitely be coming back here. I was lucky to run into the store when I was looking for a place to buy holiday greeting cards in the area. Even more luckily, there was a store-wide holiday sale going on today and I was able to get a really cute set of postcard with a 30% discount! In my opinion, the Paper Source has postcards that are a lot more cuter and reasonable than other stationary stores like Papyrus and Hallmark. I also enjoyed looking at pretty calendars, stationaries, and other tools for arts and crafts - it reminded me of how fun it is to be creative and encouraged me to go back to arts and crafts to create something nice to give to others. read more

This review is regarding an unprofessional telephone encounter I had with an employee at the Time Warner location. I shopped at the store and was told I'd get a coupon code in the mail in a few days. I had not, so I called the Time Warner store and had the displeasure of speaking with someone named Rudy. I explained the situation and he asked if my email was entered correctly. I said yes, I entered it on the keypad. He then asked me very condescendingly how I got behind the counter to enter the email on the keypad. I explained the keypad was facing in my direction. He then thought he put me on hold (I heard everything) while he complained to and handed me off to his colleague Sara who then calmly told me to go into any store to fix this situation. I purely called to ask a simple question and for Rudy to speak to a customer in such a patronizing manner was uncalled for. I have shopped at Paper Source many times and love it, but RUDEy does not represent the company well at all and needs a brush up course on how to talk to people. read more

Watch out Papyrus because you have some serious competition with your competitor, Paper Source! I was walking up Columbus Avenue with a couple friends en route to the Planetarium and we came across this adorable window display with paper and journals galore. My girlfriends and I are complete stationary buffs and decided to walk in. Truly ADD at its finest! We were immediately surrounded by walls and table displays filled with a large variety of absolutely gorgeous wrapping paper, stationary, journals, art supplies, note pads, pens, calendars, tissue paper, gift bags and gift boxes of all sizes and even (nickel free!) jewelry and stuffed animals. Not knowing where to start first, we all split up and caressed the journals we so wanted but knew we didn't need. I fantasized about purchasing different paper for all sorts of occasions just so I could feel the texture of them or stare at the prints and material they were made out of. Each product had their own unique style and as far as I could tell it seemed to not neglect anyone's personal taste. As I went further along the store I almost died over their party supplies: festive chevron paper straws, mason jars, aprons alongside little books on shoes, fashion and nails and little random - but fun! - trinkets like mini piggy banks and pillows. This store truly had a little bit of everything. For a store with so much product and square feet they managed to maintain a sort of modern mom & pop vibe very well. Also, I have to give credit to the customer service they have. One or two girls were floating around the store while a couple were behind the registers. I bought a pair of super adorable nickel free (I'm highly allergic to nickel so finding this was amazing to me) earrings but was skeptical of making a final purchase. The girl looked up the earrings online on her register to confirm the material - we didn't find a definite answer but she recommended I go to the jewelry store next door to have them tested to be sure and if they were nickel, I could bring them back if I didn't wear them. After I purchased the earrings, I noticed she accidentally charged me twice for which she profusely apologized and reimbursed me my money. I wasn't upset by it because it was an honest mistake but I like her diligence. (Turns out the earrings were nickel free by the way!) This place was truly amazing so much so that the Planetarium closed - okay, fine, we were heading there close to their closing time anyway.. - but it was worth it. We had fun looking at everything, one of the girls has been my friend for 21+ years and shopping for stationary before the start of every school year was our absolute favorite past time! This place gets major credit for bringing us to an old happy place as well as having such a great variety! I'll be back for sure whenever I need something special! read more

You know when you want something that you don't need and you start of thinking of some reason and justification to buy it or make up an occasion where you may "need" it. That's what I did the whole time I was at this store - did it with every single item. I WANT IT ALL!!! The store is big with all kinds of knick knacks, from stationaries, to notebooks, stamps, pens, coloring materials, aprons, thank you cards, etc. The people here are super friendly making it even harder not to buy anything. It's on the expensive side though and I wish they had free workshops and classes. Other than that, you'll def not come out of Paper Source's doors without an awesome find. read more

Great for a party! I planned a craft workshop with Paper Source for a bachelorette party in April and we had a blast. Dasha was our host and she led about 10 of us through each craft. Even the less creative types enjoyed themselves the whole time. Per their suggestion, I stopped by the store a week or so before the event and picked out the crafts we would do that day. We decided on paper flowers that we made into a bouquet for the bride and some personalized cards/stationery. I have to set a timer for myself when I go in here (and a budget!) ... seriously, you can spend a lot of time looking at all of the pretty things. In addition to super cute cards and wrapping materials, they have a great selection of books, candles, and other fun gifts. Though it's easy to buy things you don't really need, it's also easy to find stuff that makes great presents that you didn't even think of before you saw it on the shelf just waiting for you! It's a bit more upscale and stylish than nearby Papyrus, though it's more expensive too. If you're really into finding the perfect present for Secret Santas, or great wrapping for a great gift, this place can't be beat. I do wish they carried more journals though. The pickings tend to be pretty slim in that regard considering how much shelf space this store has. Otherwise, would be five stars! read more

I had a very unpleasant experience here picking out wedding invitations. I am a pretty no-nonsense person and was not super picky, but the whole process still took over two hours. The salesperson quoted me the wrong price multiple times and the actual price was inevitably more each time. Even his supervisors seemed in over their heads. Once I placed my order, the central office in Chicago was much more on top of things, though they did come a week after I was told they would. I do have to say that the invitations came out great and just how I wanted them. I was even able to add my own, personalized logo. I had a supremely positive experience at Paper Source. I needed some ink pads for a project I am doing with my students and I called them to make sure they had what I needed. The person who answered the phone was polite and prompt. I told them I was coming in to get the ink before I hung up. When I got there no fewer than three employees knew that I was the "guy who called about the ink" and were all happy to help me. They also went above and beyond by showing me what the ink would look like on paper before I bought it, and I am glad they did. It helped me make a better choice than my initial choice. I've shopped at other craft stores before, one in particular which is much larger has employees that don't seem like they care about the work they do. And I don't fault them for that. They might not want to be there. However, the employees at Paper Source seem to all take pride in their work, even showing me the work they had produced being displayed on the walls. I'm a teacher, and no matter how much I want to avoid it, there are times where I have to craft things. Walked in here on a whim while waiting for a friend and had such a good time browsing all the cute stationery. Really adorable stuff, and it seems like it could be really useful if you were trying to make some personalized things. Something about it seemed a little less corporate than Papyrus, which it probably isn't. But I felt happier being in there. I went to this store with my daughters to get some envelope liners for my wedding invitations. The staff there are very patient and kind. The store is beautiful with lots of items that you can buy to create or use for any type of party. They are a bit pricy but it's worth the quality and service you get.
