I would never shop here! Got a gift for my wedding and it was not what I wanted at all so I went to return it. They don't take returns so I asked to speak to the Manager she also gave me a difficult time because I did not have a gift receipt. A group of friends purchased an item from there and it was still in the wrapping that Paper Source uses as well as their bag. They need to really rethink there return policy. I was not going to go to the "Group of Friends" and say do you have a gift receipt? That is rude. So I finally got this credit but not sure what I am going to do with it??? read more

I usually order online from Paper Source and have been a huge fan of their products but recently had to go into the store to exchange envelopes and pick up some cardstock. Turned out to be a great, friendly customer service experience. read more

I was in the Southport store the other night trying to wrap my head around wedding invitations. Nicole was the sales associate who helped me and she was great to work with. She was incredibly friendly and gave me just enough information and guidance to make the search process much easier but she never hovered, nor was she pushy or overbearing - which I sincerely appreciated. She allowed me to leave my contact information to receive the quotes and promptly sent them out later that evening after the store closed. I appreciated her service and I'll definitely be back in the store soon. read more

I arrived at 6:58, store closes at 7. I had a small gift I needed wrapped. Employee tells me I had to come in the next day to pick gift up, since it takes longer than two minutes to wrap. She wants me to leave a relatively expensive gift overnight? No thanks. I won't be back. read more

We used the Southport location to find our wedding invitations. We went with a very elegant William Arthur invitation. There are tons of options at the Paper Source from DIY to traditional companies. We went there a few times to look through their books to make our decisions. We also ended up using their papers to make DIY wedding programs and select place cards. We were happy with everything we purchased, and it was nice to have a local place I could walk right into any time I forgot an item or wanted to look for something else. I also went back recently to pick out Thank You notes that matched the wedding invites (though through Crane, not William-Arthur). Watch for the right times of year as some of the invitation/ card companies will offer significant sales. Nicole is great to work with there. She is warm and friendly, has good taste, and overall is a really helpful salesperson but not pushy. read more

Shortly, after getting engaged I decided to use Paper Source for our wedding paper needs because although it is on the pricey side it is just around the corner from my apartment and they have great DIY templates on their website. The products are fantastic, the store is so cute, and I leave always feeling energetic about my next project. It doesn't get 5 stars though because the customer service is so strange. As mentioned in other reviews you are always greeted with questions regarding your projects, but I found when I wanted actual assistance they weren't that helpful because they were pushing products I didn't need or explaining a project way out of my skill-set or dismissive because I didn't want the letter press invitations etc. They also don't remember their customers (not that I expect them to) but I go in almost once a week and the same girl asks me the same question ("what project are you working on?") and then offers very little guidance or suggestions. However, when I did have an issue with some funky paper (it felt and looked like it had water damage even though it was in a plastic package) I bought and wanted to return they were very receptive. read more

A paper store that charges for wrapping a gift. Weak. How much could it cost to wrap a small present? Not the $6.00 they want to charge. Most stores on Southport don't charge for wrapping. And they have a lot of wrapping paper they could use! How about even brown paper? That would be fine. Or a bag? You have to purchase that too. read more

Was just inside this location, killing some time with a friend while waiting for a table at the Southport Grocery across the street... I love me some Paper Source, but I will not be visiting this one ever again. Walked around, thought about buying some stickers for my two-year old niece but then decided against it. The blonde woman working behind the counter seemed to be watching our every move as if we were about to steal/stealing something from her shop. Like this Paper Source employee, I am also blonde and white, but the friend I was with is Puerto Rican. I understand that Roscoe Village is a predominately white area of the city(I've lived in this city for over ten years and been to this neighborhood many times) but that's no reason to wrongly racial profile us while we are inside your store. This blonde woman working there even went so far as to follow us out of the store when we left and watch us walk away. So incredibly tactless and rude. One star. read more

So I would like to update my previous review to indicate that I received an apology from Sharon. I appreciated it very much. I was in the shop last night and received excellent help with my project from the other asst manager whom I love love love. read more

This is my favorite Paper Source to go to! I am a graphic designer so I'm always seeking fun paper and new things to work with and the Paper Source has everything! This is my favorite store because of the friendly staff I experienced about a month ago. I asked about envelope liners and the girl was so friendly she demonstrated a bunch of things for me. I've been to the one in Lincoln Park, and sorry to offend any of the staff, they ask if they can help but I can't help but feel they don't actually want to... Don't get me wrong, I'm used to the Lincoln Park scene, as a DePaul alum. Anyway, they were just more approachable at Southport so I will definitely be visiting this one from now on. read more

okay so let me start with the staff!!! MOST HELPFUL STAFF EVER!! THEY LOVE WHAT THEY DO AND IT SHOWS.I was told by the wells location to come here for the book binding expert, and that she is!!!! I cant remember names im soo sorry and i promised i would yelp back in may but i was unable to do so sooner. anyways, I was binding a book for a wedding, paper was turquoise with gold mums and the spine in shiny gold. The expert who i went to see here pulled up you tube videos and opened the package to actually demonstrate how to do each step by step. She recommended additional things that were imperative to a beautifuly bound book, (boning tool, and the gelatinus paste) for a first timer i was soo suprised how great it turned out. Had i not trusted her I would of assumed she just was concerned about making a buck, but i never ever feel like that when I am at any paper source. I am more than convinced that without her help, her demonstrations, and her advice, I would have ruined the book. Later i went in again because i could not for the life of me put the screws in. A different young lady who i wish i knew her name, was sooooooooooo patient and sweet. she really took the time to help me with the screws and even though it was annoying and a little time consuming, she did it with a huge smile!!!!!! my only complaint is that its almost unaffordable to really work on a great project.but for handmade paper and a staff that knows everything about anything in there. I would rather go here than michaels anyday read more

Great staff, was here under not so great circumstances (funeral, needed a guest book) and the person was extremely helpful in showing me what books there were as well as what I could use to substitute a traditional book. I don't often shop for stationary and books of that sort, but if I need them I will return here. read more

Great place. Cool paper and cards. I like buying things for people here. Really cool!

Agree with earlier comments that the staff wants to push useless products on you, specifically: I bought some beautiful glitter wrapping paper that they assured me wouldn't get glitter everywhere. Unfortunately that wasn't true. I touched the samples in the store, and those didn't make a mess so I am really disappointed that my house is covered in glitter! Also, the glitter paper needs special tape to work, which I only discovered after purchasing and wrapping a gift. They wouldn't refund, but scammed me in to buying this magical tape that is supposed to work. And it doesn't work anyways. I don't think there is any solution to this product besides the garbage bin, cause anyone I know would be annoyed to open a gift that left their hands and house covered in glitter! I am not sure why they are being such hard-asses about accepting a return on this product, but I think they should because I have spent hundreds of dollars there on gifts in the past few weeks! read more

In terms of merchandise, this store does really well. I found lots of beautiful cards and stationery, fun gifts, pretty stamps...etc. It's the third Paper Source location I've been in, and its merchandise is right on par with the others stores. In terms of service...not so great. Two of the employees cheerfully and politely offered to help, quickly told me and my friend about a promotion, then walked away. Another employee was more persistent. She spent a lot of time talking to us (to the point where we really wanted to just leave, but it would have been exceptionally rude), showing us things we expressed no interest in, and then eventually walked away. When we went to purchase the cards, the same employee happened to be behind the register. She looked at the cards, asked if I had seen some pen that would "go" with the cards, I said no, and before I could say I wasn't interested in a pen she ran away to find this pen. She brought one back, SCANNED IT, and THEN handed it to me!!!! I didn't want the pen, easily could have asked her to remove it from the bill, but I was so shocked and and annoyed that I wanted to just get out of there. Brilliant sales tactic....in the moment, yes. (Obviously, because she "sold" me a pen to go along with my cards!) Long term...there is one annoyed customer who most likely will not return. Take home message: If you like Paper Source merchandise, and are even slightly more outspoken than I am, this is the store for you :) read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars even though I think it's super pricey. They have someone, a practical ANGEL named Spencer, who happens to be there every time I go in and helps me with projects both big and small. He's amazing. Crazy creative AND has a fabulous personality to boot. Keeps me going back every time! Love the quality of their stuff too! read more

Upon walking into paper source for the first time (as a serious buyer, and not just browsing), I was overwhelmed by the amount of visual stimulation, but I knew that I wanted get get some custom cards made for my father's surprise birthday. Walking past the cute window display I was greeted with a friendly hello from one of the associates, I think her name was Jordan. She asked me what it was that I was looking for and told her I needed some custom cards for my father's surprise birthday. I was very pleased that she lightly gestured "Aw that's very sweet", and she gave me a short yet concise run down of how custom print works and the general price range. Seeing as I was in for more than I had realized I took some of her friendly advice, and also consulted the website. But because of my friendly interaction, I found what I wanted online and went back into the store to place my order in person. I would highly recommend shopping at this Paper Source! read more

So disappointing. I ran in to quickly buy some pretty paper for table numbers for a small party. They had the perfect origami type paper that was adhesive! I only needed 5 sheets and one of the packs was disassembled without a price tag. I was willing to pay more than $2 a sheet but they acted like it was cutting into their profits. They said they would put the pack back together?? Adhesive on the top? I shop there a lot but no more out of principle. Staff (2 of the 3) was incredibly rude and embarrassing. Customer service was terrible. Too bad. read more

I should've stayed away from this location after seeing the customer service remarks. My fiancé and I went here for our custom wedding invitations. We did our research and already knew exactly which ones to get. We went in to place the order and was told that we would need to set up an appointment for custom prints because there was only two of them working at the time and it 'might' get busy. Fine. So we made an appointment. We put together our invitations with one of the employees there who was friendly throughout the appointment and let us discuss design and wording between the two of us and added input when needed. We placed the order and my bank account was charged the full amount which was what we were expecting. However, we recently picked up the invitations and we, what we thought, were charged again.. The full amount. Sadly, the associate failed to communicate to us that you are charged upfront but credited back and the final amount be charged after pick up. No one, during the entire process, bothered to let us know. Simple communication and seems like a lack of training for their employees. read more

I love visiting this Paper Source! It is my happy place! The team there is always really helpful, cheerful and are quick with a good idea for a project when I am stuck. Just walking in the store brightens my mood. I know I can rely on finding a quick gift, perfect card or get help with project inspiration when I go to this location - I am always running in here on my way to showers/weddings because their cards are AMAZING! read more

So I usually love this store but today I went to have someone help me design some anniversary invites. I called earlier to see if I needed to make an appointment and the nice guy I spoke with one the phone, just told me to come in and that someone could help me. So I arrived in the late afternoon and I asked this sales associate (her name was Jordan) if she could help me b/c I need to order and design some anniversary party invites. She was extremely unhelpful and rude. She had no friendly disposition and just asked "do you want to design them yourself?", I said no, I'd like some help or guidance and she just said "well it's really easy"... with no offer to, I don't know, maybe show me how easy it is (I've never done this before except with a designer for my wedding invites) or offer some sort of guidance. She said "well it can take a long time to order custom invites"....I said I had time and she was just incredibly discouraging. I could not believe she worked in sales. She then pointed to some invites that were already on the table and they were all formal wedding invitations. I asked her if she had any wedding anniversary party samples, templates, anything (she could have even showed me party invites and then worked from there). I was ready to drop money on custom invitations and this rude lady was an awful representation for this store. Walked out and took my business elsewhere. read more
