My friend, who is an artist, introduced me to this place, and she says that CAW has a strong reputation in the art community. I have zero art background, but I have taken drawing and photography classes here. All the teachers were friendly, enthusiastic, and well-prepared. I felt like I learned a lot and that the teachers were encouraging of beginners. They have a huge variety of classes here including cool stuff I'd like to try like metal sculpture. There are both short workshops (good for artists who are already well-versed in a topic but want to pick up a new technique) and longer classes. The cost is a little pricey, but well-worth it in my opinion. They also have an exhibition space and show really nice artwork there. This past summer, my friend and I went to see a juried show there and it was very good. The Creative Arts Workshop is a fantastic place to learn art and join an artistic community. In the Perspective Drawing of Buildings and Architecture workshop, Eric March introduced strategies, gave students a chance to experiment, and consulted individually to discuss what works for each person and how to expand skills. His presentation was clear, and his comments were gentle and specific. For me, as a non-professional with some drawing experience, the class was engaging and informative - a delightful way to spend two afternoons. Being able to see and draw things from different perspectives makes drawing more fun and satisfying. As someone who ordinarily is more interested in life than buildings, I also realized the advantage of starting with boxier shapes, knowing that I can apply the same techniques to the animate world now that I have seen how they work. I highly recommend the workshop and other opportunities to work with Eric March.

**Turnbridge saved my daughter**…read more My daughter was at Turnbridge for just under two months. Before she went there she was beginning to head down the wrong path. So we decided this program was what she needed to get back on track. In the beginning it was very hard for her to adjust to being there. She kept calling and was crying and said she wants to come home and made promises to change. Myself and my family and her mother encouraged her to hang in there and to try and block out the negativity. She tried to manipulate and come up with statements that weren't necessarily true. She ended up getting a new counselor/clinician quickly and got to work with Alissa. It took her almost a month to get fully adjusted and accept that she needed to really work on what she said she originally went there for which was substance use and also mental health. We began to notice that as time went on she wasn't asking to come home anymore when she made her calls to us each night. Her mood slowly started to improve. She became invested in bettering herself and did the assignments that were asked of her. Both myself and her mom participated in family therapy sessions and we began to notice that she was starting to put the work in to better herself. In addition, she was also learning about herself and how she is around other people. We got word that the treatment team wanted to do neurological testing to get some answers on some behavioral concerns they observed. The results of the neurological testing were a game changer! They showed that my daughter has Autism, which looking back explained a lot about her behavior, but because she masked her symptoms and feelings we couldn't tell for sure. She was accepting of this diagnosis. And now we can figure out how to best support her going forward. My daughter graduated and successfully completed Turnbridge Residential in Woodbury, CT on 9/12/25. Words can't expressed how thankful my family and my ex (her mom) are that she went to Turnbridge. It was rough in the beginning, but she made it through. My parents and my ex (her mom) and their family noticed during the visits how much my daughter has grown and changed for the better. Parents realize that the key for success if they send their child there is for the individual to put the time and effort in and that will bring success. My daughter learned that a lot of the things she was saying about Turnbridge and what was going on were things she was building up in her own mind. Special special thanks and shoutouts go to Justin and Alissa!!! They were and are amazing and caring and wanted my daughter to succeed!!! They helped my daughter so much and gave her skills she can use in the future!!! Thanks to Chelsea for your support as well with everything! Thank you Dr. Minhas, Tammy Platt and Dr. Colwell!! Both Justin and Alissa expressed how proud they are of my daughter with how successful she was while in the program. I was frustrated at the beginning, having not painted since middle school, but began to develop confidence as my painting was near finished.
