Came here as we were making our way thru town on a random week day. There was only 1 other patron in there, so it was nice and quiet. Service was really good. They came and checked on us a lot and were very attentive. I ordered a pepperoni calzone with extra pepperoni, and it came out stuff and stuffed with pepperoni. I guess I shouldn't have ordered extra! There wasn't a ton of cheese on the calzone, but it was still very delicious. I'll definitely be back the next time we make our down to Florence. read more

This would be the best pizza around if they learned not to burn the bottom of the pizza. They're so close to being good. Only 2 other tables there and the pizza took about 40 minutes. I confused Bogo day for discount calzone day and had to change my order over the phone. I asked if I could add toppings to my free cheese pizza and was told they were $1.99 apiece. When I got to the restaurant I paid the bill and ordered a beer and sat down and started waiting for the order. From the kitchen I could hear the cook yell to the front desk is that lady who walked in the one that gave you the hassle? I did not know I was a hassle I thought I was a customer. so when I review the receipt each additional topping was actually $1.99 and they never did bring my beer out. The toppings were very sparse on each pizza and they even forgot one of the toppings that I had paid 199 for. This was a stark contrast to my first visit there where I met the nicest waitress had a great beer while waiting for my calzones and felt like I was getting a great deal and great service. read more

Two different pizzas. The first one is the one I got tonight to go. The second pic is the one I had last weekend in the restaurant. They are supposedly the exact same pizza. I ordered a 14 inch supreme with no green peppers, add green chilies, extra sausage , and sautéed the onions & mushrooms.Do we see any green chilies or extra sausage in the first pic? Well, for Florence it is OK. At least there are no bats on the ceiling like a restaurant across the street. The pizza was doughy and had too much cheese. The servers are really young and un-trained. Is it that hard to bring water? To get a glass with a bottle of soda? A little too much over-sharing about a sick dog, too. My friend was told the salad would have iceberg lettuce. We were pleasantly surprised that it was a mix of lettuces. There is a 10% military discount. read more

Supporting small business is important and I could see this place being the go-to pizza spot for Florence, Penrose, and surrounding farming communities. I hope they can make it and iron out some issues, which i won't be on my Yelp high horse and hurt them by giving poor rating. The pizza is very respectable. Doesn't seem like you could go wrong and I wouldn't hesitate to order again. The dine-in experience needs some major help though. Our server, who was nice and trying at least, was inexperience but managed. The issue was she was too young to serve beer and the person who could serve the beer was all over the place, seemingly not familiar with how to pour draft beer in the first place. I thought it was ironic they checked no ones ID to consume beer but cared enough to be careful who served the beer. The irritating part was after we asked for another round of beers, we saw the employees standing around chatting and having a good time in the back while we just waited... For about 10 minutes just for a refill on a pint of beer. Also, we didn't get enough plates, no extra napkins... It's the small details!- like the sign on the door that still read 'closed' almost kept us from entering in the first place. Furthermore they must work on multiple course timing- bringing the side salad, breadsticks, pizza all out at once is a small annoyance too. I can't imagine it's easy finding good help in an area like this but my opinion is they could use it. Fix those smaller things that hurt customers' experience and reaction and I can see this place thriving because the food is as mentioned good. read more

The place had only been open for four days when we stopped in town for the weekend! We never ended up going inside, as they have a nice little walk up window around the side where you can place an order. I got a slice of cheese, and boy was it cheesy! They do not skimp on the cheese here, for which I am really grateful. One slice was plenty for lunch. They have a little outdoor seating area around back, and since we were in the midst of a festival, it was the perfect setup. We got to chat with the owner, and ended up going back the next morning to try out an experimental breakfast pizza. Not QUITE the style B. had described to him, for which he apologized, but if they do figure it out it will definitely be worth stopping by early. This is a good place for lunch if your in town and wanting something fairly cheap and with great customer service. Alright, luckily there's only one downside here. I ordered basically a spinach and hamburger cheese calzone. Calzone was awesome, cooked very well, except they tend to put garlic in their food, I mean a lot of garlic. Don't get me wrong, I love my garlic but not to this extent. I was literally picking out chunks of fresh garlic about every third bite or so and giving them to my husband who was devouring them like they were going out. I say cut back on the garlic and you've got a perfect recipe. The garlic knots are not the tiny ones you find in Italian restaurants, but huge ones that you can't eat all or you won't be hungry for the main entree. Very good, again very heavy on the garlic. Would I go back? Oh yea, but to ask for no garlic in the calzone. I would bring my husband on a date here, or anyone could bring a date here I guess, for a nice lunch, then to look at the antiques we have here. Perfect day!! read more

Just had lunch here at Papa's Restaurant. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms off the appetizer menu then ordered a 10 inch Hawaiian with pepperoni. First up the appetizer ummm can't rave about this one. Actually it was tasteless just a gob of sausage in a mushroom with a little and I mean little bit of sausage. Pizza was ok I've had worse but then I've had better. You maybe asking Carl would you go back to Papa's Restaurant? Probably not unless the owner reply's to this yelp and encourages me to try them again. We didn't have a very good experience when we were there. We ordered a Supreme Salad to split. With no olives. And a large White Rabbit pizza. Seems simple. First a small side salad arrived, which we sent back. Then after a really long time our Supreme Salad arrived with olives. So we sent it back. And since it had been so long we figured our pizza would be ready soon so we said to forget about the salad. Our pizza arrived and there was chicken on it. The menu didn't mention anything about meat being one of the ingredients and we ordered it to have a vegetarian pizza. We didn't say anything because we were starving and didn't have time to wait for another pizza. Our server was very good, although we don't know her name because she never told us. Great food!! We have been there twice and were not disappointed. This last time we went with my son and daughter-in-law. My son is very picky and he was very pleased with his calzone. The waitress was very nice and especially nice to my two young granddaughters, I was very impressed by her making sure they didn't go long hungry!! All the adults had calzones, which were delicious and the kids shared a pepperoni pizza which they loved. Everything is freshly made to order and served nice and hot. Yum!! read more
