Mozzarella triangles
Brian C.

Best Sicilian style Italian restaurant in the city when it comes to flavors. The red sauce is sweet and reminds you of your Maw Maw's recipe. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The service was great! Our server, Khyley, was on top of it the whole meal. We started with the mozzarella triangles. It was fresh mozzarella that could pull for miles. We also got the fried green beans, so good. For meals, we got the cheese pizza, all fresh and prepared in house, the crust was fabulous. The spaghetti and meatballs was huge! With a ton of pasta and sauce and there giant meatballs. The pepperoni calzone was very tasty, just like the cheese pizza. The chicken parmigiana was very good and left little to be desired. The lasagna was perfecto. All entrees came with salads and bread. The salad dressings were homemade. And lastly, you gotta get the cannolis. The inside is a little dated but it's very clean.

I love Papa Sals. Their daily special Ziti with bread and salad is only 6.95!!! Service is fantastic!

Great food. Took a little while on the pizza, but they were slammed with call out. Definitely a return trip in the future.

The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. The service was good. BUT we had to fight flies for our food. Kinda kills the vibe.

We LOVE the food here, the service, and the prices. It's sort of a hole in the wall spot, but it doesn't matter. The food is awesome!!

It was by far not at all the pizza I remember but that's a good thing it was actually way better. I remember the pizza being spicy for some reason but this time it was different. I ordered a meat lovers pizza and that's exactly what I got. This thing was loaded with meat toppings and everything was so balanced and didn't taste processed. Fresh stretchy cheese with no weird after taste and the sauce was perfect acid sweetness that I love on a pizza. The crust was very well done it was like a thin crust but wasn't I was just done so well. Light yet crispy and foldable. Get this pizza asap! 9.1/10 I also got the Limoncello cake this thing was light fluffy with the right amount of lemon flavor and the cream is to die for. Also came with what I believe were white chocolate shavings. 8/10 I highly recommend before you go to a Domino's, or Pizza Hut, or Papa John's you choose this place first. I'm so glad I decided to try them again and my experience was even better this time around. I'll definitely be back!

On our most recent visit decided to try a new option the Southern Style Deep Dish (Deep dish pizza…read morebaked and served in a cast iron skillet, a Southern take on Chicago style, with a crisp edge and hearty layers of pepperoni, Italian sausage, smoked bacon, and mozzarella, topped with our house marinara) and fortunately my son convinced me to get a large (16") basic Pepperoni Pizza (hand tossed dough, house marinara, mozzarella, and pepperoni) as well. I say fortunately because when he got home with the pizzas after picking them up for take out, I was shocked at how small the Southern Style Deep Dish ended up being. Essentially it was the size of the old personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut. While unsure what a "southern take" on a Chicago style might mean, I did not expect the soupy mess of toppings in a bread bowl, which is what we received. There was nothing wrong with the taste and there were ample protein toppings, just not enough cheese to bind it all together. Since my wife was not home for dinner, we decided to save her a "slice" to try later. It sitting overnight and being reheated greatly improved the consistency. What usually makes Chicago Style successful is more cheese than you usually have on a hand tossed or tavern style and in some cases a top layer of dough to really make it into a "pie". The taste of the toppings has never been an issue for me (with the exception of the "Lazy River - crawfish ettoufee, beer braised sweet peppers, charred red onion and mozzarella). Overall my take is unless you are going to order some of their more unique options such as my favorite "Gator Bait" (marinara, mozzarella, alligator sausage, roasted chicken, jalapeño peppers, and drizzled with creole creme) there are plenty of other better places for your pizza cravings. My son is also a fan of their Margherita pizza. For me it will likely be a good long while before suggesting a visit or pick up again.

I have ordered twice at this location and been disappointed in the food quality overall…read more The garlic bread is probably the best thing here, bread is soft, warm, and buttery. I have had the pizza years ago when they had a location in Hoover and it was the best. Supposedly the owner in Gardendale is the same one that was at Hoover previously. This pizza is the complete opposite, with a store bought bread base that's partial cooked. The toppings didn't help to improve the flavor or texture, I had a pepperoni pizza. This time I tried the roast beef sandwich and my boyfriend had the hoagie. The roast beef and gravy tasted like it was in a can and reminded me of Dinty Moore beef stew, very salty and thick gravy. The hoagie had three meats, maybe provolone cheese, and pizza sauce that was light. The meats were lukewarm and dripping clear liquid while eating the sandwich. Again the bread was about the only good part of these sandwiches as it's the same used for the garlic bread. I wish they would work on improving their food offerings, and bring back the good quality they used to have for pizzas. I'm not sure if I will return here unless it's just for garlic bread which seems a waste since Gardendale is out of the way for me. I'm disappointed eating here now.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the service I side was good. There was live music, so that was fun. I had a fried baloney sandwich with Mexican Street Corn. The corn nuggets were good but the trash can nachos were wayyy below my expectations and I didn't expect much. The chicken was cold and the cheese was barely melted and was all at the bottom. For entrees, our group ordered the Jamaican chicken tacos with Brussel sprouts, the copy cat chicken, which came with two sides, I got Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese, and the jalapeño pepper jack burger. The Jamaican chicken tacos were okay, nothing special, literally just chicken (which was cold...again), pineapple, lettuce and cheese. I guess the pineapple alone was supposed to be the Jamaican part, because there was no other flavors. The burger was good. The copy cat chicken was okay as well, it just had one piece of bacon cut in half sitting on top of the chicken with a glob of melted cheese. Thankfully the chicken was room temp, at best, but warmer than the other chicken items. The Mac and cheese just tasted like kraft Mac and cheese, no seasoning included. The Brussel sprouts were the star of the show, they were sooo good. The service was good, our waitress was very nice and friendly and brought everything out relatively quick. I think they had just changed the menu because we attempted to order the chicken parm and it said on the menu that it comes with two sides but the waitress said it didn't but she would give the sides to us free of charge but...the menu said it came with two sides...but then they ended up being out of noodles for the chicken parm. We also ordered blueberry lemon drop drinks and they were very good! The overall ambiance of this place is dive bar vibes, which I don't mind at all, I just wish the food was a little better.

When I ordered from here a few weeks ago and went through the drive thru the employee at the window said are you sure you ordered from this location. I showed her the confirmation email. After a few minutes she came back and said that someone had already picked up the order. Not sure exactly how it happened but they quickly started preparing the order again and did not charge us. We have since returned and had no issues with the order as usual. So after dozens of orders with only 1 significant issue, that they resolved as quickly as possible, Fox's will continue to be one of our top choices for pizza night. **** Original Review **** Hopefully since Fox's is an established local chain they will have better luck here than the previous several tenants. This is location is connected to the Shell gas station. Big plus for the location is the ability to drive through and pick up your phone ahead order. The pick up window is a little awkward but that was pre-existing so not much that Fox can do about it. Pizzas were ready on time. We ordered a Deluxe with Veggies only on half(essentially half Deluxe, half Meat Lovers) and a pepperoni. Dough was cooked through and has a good consistency. Their crust is like a hand tossed style. Ample toppings throughout. I definitely like better than the national chains. Will certainly be back.
