Just fantastic food. All of it. Baked beans are amazing, full of brisket. I cant say enough.read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at Fat Daddy's Barbecue today, and I feel obligated to share…read moreit so no one else gets hurt the way I did. While sitting on one of the wooden bench seats and placing my order with my husband, I suddenly felt something stab into the back of my left thigh. The pain was immediate and intense. When I reached back, I realized a piece of the bench had broken off and gone inside my skin. I was wearing a dress, so I jumped up in a panic trying to get it out. My husband couldn't see it at first because it was embedded inside my leg. After several attempts, we finally managed to pull it out -- and the piece of wood had blood on it. I now have a painful welt on my thigh, and as a diabetic, this kind of injury is especially concerning because of the risk of infection. I'm also concerned about what germs or bacteria were in that wood. I showed the piece of the bench to the waitress (it was her first day, and she clearly didn't know what to do), and I asked her to let the manager know because I didn't want anyone else to experience this. No one came to check on me. No one asked if I was okay. My husband eventually had to ask for our food to-go because I was so shaken and miserable I couldn't even stay to eat. When I went to the counter and asked for the manager myself, she came out and gave a very dismissive "I'm sorry about that, I'll check it out." I followed her to show her the bench, and her response was, "Yeah, I see. I'll just have them turn the bench to the other side." That was it. No concern, no incident report, no offer to help, no acknowledgment of how serious this was -- after we spent $88 on our meals. This experience completely ruined my day, left me injured, and left me extremely disappointed in the lack of care or responsibility shown by management. I truly hope they fix this issue before someone else gets hurt.

Meeting old friends. Only reservation available was in the garden. I was skeptical, but the evening…read morewas mild and we were entertained by a georgeous emerald hummingbird while we enjoyed great drinks. Mussels, salmon and halibut were outstanding. Order the bread for the table with 2 delicious spreads...we finished all! Perfect evening. And, if it matters, priced well.

A friend who is familiar with our 10+ years eating a plant-based diet recommended Good Earth to us…read more We went with mixed expectations as we've been through many searches ending in disappointment. Here's what Good Earth can do: 1. Review the now myriad simple, quick and easy recipes for so-called "vegan" diets (we prefer "High Carb, Low Fat" but let's face it; if you're out to eat a little extra splurge won't hurt.). 2. Have a separate "vegan" menu. This is so simple and makes us feel as relaxed and valued as any other customer. Points for the menu being more than just a sheet of used printer paper. 3. Train staff to know the difference between "Vegetarian" & "Vegan" and "Celiac disease" & "Gluten Sensitivity". Went to one place once in Texas where when I asked about vegan offerings the hostess said, "We have mozzarella sticks". (eye roll emoji). 4. Points, Points, Points for separate areas reserved for prep. Nothing like getting a nice plate of fries smelling like dead cod fish. (green faced emoji). Points x10 for kitchen staff knowing that using less oil & salt actually saves money. Though it's only been a couple of weeks since we've been there guess what? Neither of us can remember what we finally ordered. Not at all memorable. If your nice, well-stocked market area has more plant-based offerings than your menu you're doing it wrong. Finally. Don't blame the server; she was outstanding. The ultimate disappointed wasn't her fault.
