I'd like to update my review on Papa Joes, as I think the service and food has changed dramatically in the past year. I went here last night for some dinner with the hubby and can safely say I wont be going back. We both had nachos, mine had chilli beef. Hubby's was fine, but sadly what usually is lovely, soft pieces of beef, was hard, grisly and inedible. When informed of my dissatisfaction, the waitress pretty much went "meh, ok" and took it away with word of an apology or replacement offered. The main courses of vegetable burrito and blackened chicken were equally hard to stomach. I think I managed one bite of mine before I reached for my coat and got the hell out of there. The herby sauce that covered the chicken did not go with the spices on the chicken at all. It left a really odd taste in the mouth afterwards too. The burrito had a really cloying, overpowering sauce with it too and wasnt the nicest. Im really sad that Papa Joes has went downhill so quickly. This used to be one of our favourite places to chill and have some not bad cuisine. It was never an amazing place to go, never blew me away, but I knew I could get some half decent grub. Now, its not even delivering that. Sadly, even the service from the waiting staff could not pick up the quality of the food as they seemed less than interested in giving a good quality of customer service. Need to train management on Cultural Sensitivities, religion. Not everyone eats Pork. I went in with my friends and this is two years ago. Nice waiter etc, took order and I looked up the chicken pizza, chorizo, I had no clue what this was as I don't eat pork as its a cultural thing. Ordered Chicken pizza which on the header only says Chicken pizza and in small gives all the tomato cheese etc it said chorizo somewhere. The pizza came and I saw sprinkles of sausage on my pizza. I tried explaining it to the waiter that I assumed chicken pizza would be chicken and she said Ill get the manager, politely. She got the manager, a young bossy girl who was least bit interested in the cultural sensitivity ie you bought it its your problem. It was as if there was nothing wrong, ie attitude was quite clear " You are wasting my time and eat the damn pork, you ordered it and you should have known, its written here in small print chorizo and you should know what chorizo is, because I eat it everyday." Very disappointed and offended. I was expecting a lot from this place but in the end not a great experience. And thats all that there is, I can make a fairly good pizza on my own, I go to restaurants for the experience. Their food is over priced and could have just brought out another pizza. Pizza hut gave me a large pizza because they ran out of small ones, and thats even without saying anything. read more

The food here was mediocre at best. Came here at lunch time so prices were reduced, however the portion sizes were minuscule and not worth the price. Service was slow and creepy. The atmosphere was very dated. read more

Papa Joe's restaurant in Dundee is second to none in the area for food. If you like some home cooked Italian dishes or a nice steak then you should go here. Last time I was here I ordered the sirloin and it was delicious. The staff are very friendly and they are always smiling and it really help make the meal more enjoyable, The staff are probably the friendliest I have come across they were laughing and joking with us. The restaurant itself if very light and sits a lot of people, I would say definitely over 100, and somehow they always manage to seat you fairly quick. The food does not take long to come, the kitchen staffs is obviously very professional and everything flows well, we ordered a 3 course meal and wasted no time at all. The prices are very reasonable for the food. Definitely worth another visit. read more

Just popped in for an early dinner with my children at 4:55pm in Dundee. Unfortunately the day menu advertised outside as finishing at 5:00pm had already finished for the day. We were instead offered the more expensive evening menu. Staff simply didn't care - so walked out. read more

food is lovely, been to papa joes a good few times, it is a bitty expensive, but its well worth it. the food is sooo good, soo yummy!! the resurant itself is lovely inside, the decor of it is great to look at during your meal. the staff are soo friendly, and professional, all wearing matching uniforms. it does take a wee while foryour food to come, but it is all cooked fresh, and it makes it even more better! this place is great for any speacial occassion, from birthdays to weddings to funerals. well worth the vist!! read more

I have dined at Papa Joe's both in Dundee and in St Andrews and was disappointed with both. In Dundee, the food was below standard and everyone's meals arrived at different times so went cold while we were waiting. There are definitely better places to eat in the town. read more

The choice of food in Papa Joe's is great - so much it makes the choice difficult but everything I have had there is lovely! I would recommend the salmon and also the mozzarella and tomato starter, my husband would recommend the steak! It is good for children as it supplies colouring things and has a children's menu. It is always busy and that means it is hard to get a table at the last minute despite its size, probably because of the poor variety of restaurants in Dundee but also because this one is a good one! Staff are always friendly. Only problems I have had here are that on one occasion upstairs it was freezing and I was pretty miserable because of it and I would also say that it is mega noisy so its not the best place for a group of friends who want to chat across the table - not on a Friday or Saturday night anyway. It is fine for two though but when we went recently with a couple of elderly relatives we had to give up conversation. Prices are reasonable and yeah, it is worth a visit for the salmoln alone - yum! read more

Just been to pappa joes on the 1st april for my dinner with my daughter for mothers day, and was very disappointed with my main course, starter was good had nachos with cheese and my daughter had chilli peppers for my main meal i ordered chicken fajitas which normally i have there many times before, when i got this the chicken was all burnt so i sent it back the waitress was nice and apologetic and i received another one, to my dismay this was far to salty and my daughter tried it and she says it was aswell, i returned this one which the waitress said sorry again i said no problem and she says there must be a problem with the kitchen staff, she went to find out and the manager came over and told me there was nothing wrong with it as he had tasted it, i told him that was a matter of taste buds which obviously were completely different to mine and my daughters. I did not think that this was an appropriate answer as he should never have quistioned my judgement of my taste or came over and diagreed with me i was the paying customer which i have the right to give my comment on what was right for me to eat not him to tell me that it was ok for him, i was so disgusted with him even the waitresses were far better at an apology than he was. Will not be going back there again which is a pity as this was my favourite place to eat. read more
