I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo so creamy so good, the garlic knots were amazing, the canoli was ok not that great. The cream melted by the time I had it. The restaurant is located at the Montgomery shopping center next to cvs & l.a fitness. Service was friendly and quick. Is a family oriented establishment which is very nice. Pizza pie prices are reasonably sized for their price and ambiance was cool pizza place. The toppings can add up though so don't get ahead of yourself. Not sure it warrants me for a return but great spot nonetheless if you're in the area. We sat outside because it was just nice evening for it. Staying with a friend down the street, so I went here a couple of times. Slice of Cheese Pizza: not a favorite. Friends felt it was good New York Pizza. Meatballs Sub: Meatballs were great, sauce good and plenty of cheese! Bread, however, was over toasted and hard. Side of fries were ok...added salt. Chicken Parmesan: The chicken was actually very good. Side of pasta was ok. Garlic bread was more grilled bread with a little cheese sprinkled on top. Salad was very basic. Service was good. Staff were fighting in the kitchen tonight. Lots of customers in the dining room and lined up to pick up orders that could see and hear them fighting. Best pizza, hands down! Fold over and hold in your hand pizza. Chewy crust that's crispy in all the right spots. The owner is quite a character, too. They've had many of the same employees for decades! That's how you know a place is worth frequenting. We have never had a bad meal here. We have eaten the pizza, gluten free white pizza, lasagna, cake and many other items on the menu. They have all been delicious. Tonight was really spectacular. I had the Sicilian Salmon without the butter sauce for my gluten allergy. It was so fresh. Just the right amount of seasoning, the broccoli was tender but not too much and the lighter sauce was so good and lemony, I loved it. My friend and hubby had sausage ravioli which they both enjoyed and her husband had lobster ravioli which was in a pink sauce and stuffed nicely. The service was impeccable and we almost always get a hello from the owner-tonight it was a Merry Christmas wish and wonderful conversation. In my heart of hearts, I want to give this place a high ranking. But, it's getting 3 stars, which is a C grade. First off, the ambience is fun and a bit campy. It's decent enough. A mix of Italian-inspired decor, with tons of Brooklyn Dodgers memorabilia (which is cool) and then old food service posters - you know those posters about cheese, tomatoes, deli meats, etc. So, it's all a mish-mash. But you get the point that the owner is an old-school, real Brooklyn-Italian. And he is. And he's really, really nice. And cares about food and restaurants. That's why I want so badly to give this place a 5, but because of the food, it's a 3. So what was good? Well, Joe's Antipasta Salad is actually very good. Large portions of meat and cheese on lettuce and a really good Italian dressing make this salad, not only a good value, but something you could devour after a workout, and still feel good about, while getting in some serious protein. So yes it was good, although it did have that food-service kitchen quality to it, rather than genuine restaurant quality. Let's get to the disappointing part. The garlic knots. They were dry, hard and stale almost. Covered in oil and basic, raw minced garlic. If you've been to a great Italian joint, or other places in Orlando (I'm talking about you Pizza Bruno) you know how good a garlic knot can be. Here, they were just bad. Not a pleasure to eat. Tough on the stomach. And almost thrown together. Then the pizza, which I ordered super thin and crispy. It came out not that way. It was chewy and still doughy. The cheese and sauce were good, but nothing remarkable. But again, it just doesn't come close to other places with smashingly good pizza. It's just really average. Which is the fitting term for this place in general. Really, really average. Hence 3 stars. Yes, it's a heart-warming local joint, with all of the best intentions. But somewhere that doesn't translate onto the plate. I wouldn't say don't go, but I wouldn't make it a special trip. And stay away from those knots. read more

Incredible! A large group of us came here for an early dinner and the service was outstanding. Honestly, it was the best service I've ever had at a pizza joint. And their food, wow! We had several pizzas and wings. We ordered the hot wings and the garlic extra crispy and they did not disappoint. They were crispy, sauces, and loaded with garlic. We also had the Bianca and added sausage. It was the best Bianca I've ever had. I literally had to stop myself from eating the entire pizza. Surprised by the reviews. This a very tasty NYC style pizza. The crust I usually get rid of, too dense, but this was actually chewy and crushable. Thin crust, well cooked. We eat at Papa Joes probably once a month for the last 3 years. We were seated before 6 PM and the service was sub par for sure! Took over 10 minutes for someone to bring us a menu. The server that seated us and wasn't our was rude and sad they were busy. Others that were seated after us already had drinks. Finally we got a menu and ordered drinks and a pizza. The pizza was brought out and it was barely warm. My wine glass was empty and no one asked if I'd like a refill. I only ate 1 slice because of the luke warm temperature. The server finally came over after my husband had eaten 2 slices and asked what was wrong. She was also non apologetic. You could tell she was not properly trained. No manager came to the table. The pizza was good when I went home and reheated it. Its a shame a great neighborhood place has slipped this low. It will be a while before we go back if we do. read more

Not a single bad meal in the dozen and a half times I've visited in the last 3 months. Five starts for slices to go! You can't beat the experience of coming in and getting a slice or two to go. The pizza cheese gets a little crispy from reheating, the guy in the kitchen is friendly and has a great NY accent. I look at the deli section they have and it reminds me of being back in Queens. I love it and it's my favorite place to drop in to. Dining in I had a different experience. The waitress usually smells strongly like cigarettes although she is nice enough. The pizza is very wet and hard to separate as the cheese slides off. Some people like it like that but I do not. Again the guy in the kitchen is warm and welcoming. On Aug 12, 2024, I ordered a pepperoni pizza from Papa Joe in Lake Mar, Fl. Got there and had to wait another 20 minutes when I got ther. While I was waiting, one of the employees took 2 slices of pizza that had a bunch of toppings on it. The employee was picking and smudging his fingers through and picking toppings off the pizza to satisfy a customer that wanted 2 toppings and recooking it with extra cheese, so they wouldn't know. How disgusting, can't believe they are in business. Anyway I finally got my pepperoni pizza. Got home to find it not only had pepperonI, but it had onions on it. I go to the gym next door and my husband and I decided to try them out. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and (4) slices of pizza (2 cheese, 2 pepperoni) and (2) coke. The calamari was okay, but the marinara sauce were terrible. I just asked our waiter for lemon to give it flavor. The soda was flat (assuming it was tap). The pizza: dough was rough like over cooked, the tomato sauce and cheese needs to be double/triple the amount they put in. It's like they're trying to save money on ingredients but still charged you the same. Overall, we will come back if we're not in the mood for Domino's. read more

Having to update my review from a 5 star to a 1. I will preface this with, I DO like their food, however, I made an order online and it said the delivery was an hour to an hour fifteen. I called three minutes before the time frame was up just to confirm our delivery was going to be sent out. I called and told them I made an online order over an hour ago and I just wanted to make sure it was coming. The gentleman on the phone stated: "what's the last name, ok, ya your order is about to go out...why?! " I said " I just wanted to make sure everything was ok." He stated: " Ya well it's raining so everyone is getting delivery." That's fine, I wasn't upset or impatient, I waited over an hour and just wanted to make sure we weren't forgotten... No need to be rude, regardless how good the food is, you lose customers with an attitude like that. The food is always great here. I haven't tried the pizza.. - I prefer more classic items. So I had fettucine Alfredo and my daughter had the tortellini Alfredo. Both came with a nice fresh salad and warm and crusty garlic bread. It was a cold night, and our dinners arrived at our table promptly and steaming hot. The meal was excellent, with just the right amount of seasoning in the Alfredo sauce. we were "early birds" and had the luxury of having two servers ready to bring us anything we wanted.
