A park and beach with a prettier view you will not find. Especially on a sunny day, it's great to sit on the grassy slopes and watch the kayakers, sailboats, and a few yachts go back and forth against a backdrop of calm waters, mountains, and islands. There is a small swimming beach on the north side of the bay that has a raft during the summer; I don't recommend actually swimming here because of the high coliform counts in the water (that's tech speak for poo.) The water also drops off very quickly, hence the name of the area, Deep Cove. But hey, choose your own adventure. The park also encompasses a government wharf that anyone can tie up to, for a limited length of time, and the Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak Centre. I like to take my dog and throw a few sticks for her on the grassy slope near the Kayak Centre, and then amble off into the woods behind the picnic shelter. There's a little trail that goes in behind some of Deep Cove's original cottages from when this was a summer resort; now some very valuable pieces of real estate. On the other side of the park, just across Panorama Drive, you will also find the trailhead for the Baden-Powell Trail, which incidentally, leads to a viewpoint with a panoramic view of the Cove and beyond. (Wear hiking or good running shoes for this option!)

Quaint little park with beautiful views and shops. Perfect day to visit is a weekday to avoid the crowds.

It's like a hidden treasure, except everyone knows about Deep Cove but it's not mobbed (thankfully!).

The original lighthouse was wooden and lit in 1875 - this current lighthouse was built in 1912 out of concrete on top of a massive granite boulder. It's still in use today although the light is now automated. You can't access the lighthouse itself - it's closed off by fencing. But there are some buildings surrounding the lighthouse with interesting info signs on the parts they played during WWII. There's also picnic tables if you need a rest or some snacks. The trail up to the lighthouse viewpoint are wide and very well maintained. The entire trail is a moderate loop just over 4 miles long with almost 450 feet elevation gain according to AllTrails. Due to time constraints, we only hiked from the parking lot to the lighthouse viewpoint- it was pretty easy and it's less than a mile to the lighthouse with just over 100 feet of elevation gain. So round trip we did less than 2 miles. There's a large parking lot at the trailhead that's pay-to-park. We paid via QR code on one of the signs easily - we had good cell signal. It was just over $10CAD for about 2 hours so very reasonable.
