Recently I've been seeing GRuB volunteers in my neighborhood building free victory gardens for low income neighbors. The victory gardens are raised beds that include soil and plants provided by GRuB and paid with community donations. I was talking to some of the volunteers in passing. It turns out that each garden is 'worth' $1,000 if you're including materials, labor, and gas to transport. I'm very impressed with how many neighbors they've been able to help.

Completely in agreement with the other reviews. Grub is an excellent asset to the community. I…read morehave now been there four times for classes, both cooking and educational. The kitchen is well equipped and well labeled. There is a five burner cooktop in the center island which is ample enough to handle most cooking tasks. It is a multi-use facility that provides space for classes for the local schools and outdoor programs dealing with gardening. It something can be grown in this climate someone at Grub can give you pointers on how to best grow it. They have programs for veterans, school kids and home gardeners, as well as programs where a home gardener can get a raised bed for a reduced price, and in some cases for free. There are programs dealing with local, native plants as well as other types of gardening, composting and most anything to deal with pest control and how to utilize your harvest. Grub is community focused and you know it after spending a very short period of time there. Grub is the kind of asset that any community would be proud to have.

I tried to go in here on New Year's Eve and there's a big problem with the staff. I dressed up for the first time for years. I had a new dress in my closet that I swear I was going to wear after I had my surgery and I never did wear it so I thought well I'd wear it New Year's Eve and go to the VFW and before I even hardly order to drink I already got a smart comment from the bartender Toni. Angela the barmaid that's been there for years the bar manager she didn't even back me up. I think she's the one that set me up but anyway they wouldn't serve me after a couple of drinks even though I took a uber there because the bartender Toni said that I lifted my dress up in front of everybody. Please get real anybody that knows me knows that I wouldn't do such a terrible thing I'm not like that I'm self-conscious as it is of myself because of my surgeries. Angela the bar manager she will not let this place Thrive she lets people give out to-go boxes that cost us money when they have food on the inside of a canteen. Angela also lets the bar close at 7:30 at night when they're scheduled for certain times they need to be open they need to be consistent. She also keeps hiring bands that nobody comes in for because they don't like them I mean I seen a band there we just one table in there and I had a certain person tell me that knows a place really well that they don't like the band there this lady does not want the VFW to thrive in Olympia if you're not in the click you don't stick. I also was told by a member that they donated $3,000 to the VFW when I spoke to Angela about it she said she never seen it I wonder where the truth lies? I had several comments by members in there about Angela the manager of the canteen and Gary. I'm not sure what he is but they've both been there for years and they're just you know in it together whatever it is that they're doing it's not good. They had a silent auction there and I was the winner of one of the items and I even had a witness as they were calling times up I was signing my name and the guy that wanted the photo believe his name was Ron he grabbed my arm and pulled my hand away and of course because he was the friend of the band and of Angela the canteen manager they gave the item to him even though I was the winner. I will be meeting with somebody on Saturday to talk to me about everything that's going on in there. I will say no names but I will tell you this he's going to do something about this.
