Our refi did have some unique circumstances given I was on maternity leave at the time and I wanted to give some grace for that, but the issues we had went far beyond a complicated refi. Additionally, when we decided to go with another company, the process was so smooth that it proved the situation never should have been viewed as that complicated to begin with. The main issues were: 1) Information would be asked for, we would provide that information, nothing would happen, we would ask questions then they would share they needed information that we had already provided that was right there in the same email thread. 2) The information they claimed to need from my employer kept escalating. They asked for a letter verifying I was still employed despite being on leave, my employer provided it, nothing happened, we checked on progress and they said we needed more. They asked to speak with my manager to simply confirm my employment, they didn't contact her for over a week, then they asked HR type questions she couldn't possibly answer. Then they claimed they just needed HR to confirm verbally that they had issued the letter, then they finally talked to HR and asked a bunch more questions. It was bizarre and honestly, my employer was apologizing to me by the end of it while I was apologizing to them. 3) They didn't care about official loan deadlines, because it seemed to be their plan to keep asking for extensions. We initiated everything on 9/8 and as of 10/17, past the 30 day mark, they were still "gathering information." Working with the company we ended up going with, we started with them on 10/21 and everything was completely wrapped up by 11/14. 4) When working with other loan officers I've had experience with, they will do things periodically on weekends or in the evenings as necessary to hit deadlines. This team seemed to never work weekends and at one point Ander went MIA for over a week of the process and was supposedly on vacation with no back-up. This wouldn't be a big deal if it were a longer process, but over a week out of 30 days is pretty extreme. From what I can tell, these people just aren't that skilled. They clearly have a big company and Factory is an apt name for it as I think they just get as much business as they can get, turn and burn, and don't really care about the service they are providing.

We recently had the opportunity to refinance and without hesitation, Stephen reached out directly to us as soon as he noticed rates were coming down. This was a new program announced by press release, which I read about in a Yahoo! Finance article, through a link on Google News. Having worked previously in real estate and finance, I knew what the key points were to our situation, so I included those in the message to Stephen, asking whether he would be able to do the loan. Stephen responded abruptly by saying that he would have to talk with me by phone, to discuss "details." After I called him, he proceeded to try to browbeat me into accepting a different program at a higher interest rate. His approach was to use old-fashioned psychological pressure tactics, along the lines of: "Are you so naïve that you think you could actually get such a loan? That rate is just a teaser that you would never actually get." He was crude, demeaning and even insulting. I informed him, politely, that I had a background in real estate and finance, so I was not naïve about these things, offering him one last chance to do business with us, if he was so inclined. But he insisted that the loan would not be possible for us, so I thanked him and said goodbye. Shortly thereafter, I found a straightforward loan broker who in fact did the loan for us, on exactly the terms I had in mind: 1.99% 15-year fixed, with a reasonable fee. We closed in less than three weeks and none of the things that Stephen said were obstacles turned out to be an issue. I am pleased to report that my wife and I are now enjoying substantially lower monthly payments. BOTTOM LINE: If you want someone with an "old-school" approach to sales--involving psychological games, pressure tactics and absence of transparency (resulting in your not getting the best deal that you could)--Stephen Wong may be a good fit for you. Anyone interested in connecting with the straightforward broker we ultimately used is welcome to send me a private message, as I'm not allowed to include that information in my review.

Turns out I didn't even get approved for the loan. Thanks a lot Loan Simple for that slap in the face. I m a first time home buyer and I trusted you to help me buy my home. Not only did I not get the house I also lost almost 10 grand of my hard earned cash to the buyer because someone wasn't following procedures. Next time if anyone ever goes here be sure to be cautious and make sure they have your loan approved before they have you remove the contingency. You will lose your deposit money like I did. This place deserves a negative 5 stars. If you value your hard earn money go to the real professionals not these people. I m not even sure they have their license. Jeannie's name was on all my paperwork that they handled for me. She had her assistant Tammy handle my loan. I did my research on Tammy and found out she has no license. I found this out on Zillow . On her profile it says license to work in no states. That means she's not licensed to do loans. Avoid this place as much as you can.

My husband and I recently made a purchase and our mortgage consultant didn't know what the hell he was doing, two weeks in, he needed help from his manager where his manager could care less about us because he was retiring. The week of our closing day, I felt like we weren't going to close, so that's when I googled WF mortgage consultant in the Bay Area and John's name popped up and I had contacted him. Unlike our WF mortgage consultant who had lacked on communication, John was very informative; he'd give me a call in the evening after I had left him a voicemail message when he was driving home from work. He'd also give me a call during his lunch. During the closing process, we were frustrated with our mortgage consultant that I just wanted John to take over, but John reassured me that it was late in the process and I was better off just sticking with who I have (he was right, we just had to stay cool and positive). He also gave us the closing process steps of what we'll be expecting. John is patient, attentive, kind and smart. If you are with WF, immediately take your loan to him and have him process it. I hope corporate is reading this because John truly cares, even for a stranger like me who wasn't his client, but he took his time to make sure everything was A-OK! Thanks John! Although, My Linh specializes in the real estate market in the Bay Area, she was able to help advise and guide me through the process of home buying in southern California. She made sure that the process from beginning to end was made as smoothly as possible, no matter what the hiccups were, she was able to help me through it all. I wanted to buy a home and as quickly as possible since I needed to move my entire family down to southern California. It must have been very stressful for her since I was always in constant contact with her, but she always kept up a professionalism rarely seen under pressure and continued to help me. Although my home is nowhere near as expensive as many homes in the Bay Area, My Linh continued to treat me as if I was her highest priority client until the buying process was complete. Her English may not be perfect. Her initial impression may not leave you with the highest confidence. But from experience, I can only give her my highest recommendation. Give her and HLB Realty a chance and you won't be disappointed. Thank you, My Linh.
