It's very hard to maintain 5 stars on Yelp and the reason for that is in the level of detail Nguyen provides. Great guys there, I have tried to work with several corporate tax accountants so far and found this company the most reliable and accurate. They have a small team of accountants and they work very hard all the time to help clients. While there were some issues down the road they have helped me a lot to understand corporate taxes better and were very quick to respond on all of my questions. They tend to get very busy at the tax return period of a year and I strongly advise to plan ahead and prepare taxes earlier in a year to get the most accurate and detailed review from them. In my case I had to file an extension for 6 months because unfortunately they forgot to notify me that s-corp taxes must be filed 1 month before personal even if you company is registered as LLC. So I have almost missed the deadline and was fortunate to catch the error. While the error has originated from their side as they have confirmed that the filing deadline for my company is the same as for my personal returns, they helped me ASAP to file an extension to avoid penalties. I have also setup a payroll account with them for the first year of my company. At the beginning of the next year I've got a letter from EDD with underpayment penalties for the last year. After all digging we have found out that they have reported my SDI+ET incorrectly and it showed up as underpaid on EDD side. It took a lot of time from my side and their side to correct the error and wipe out the penalty from my account. But it turned out okay, they were working hard to get it resolved as soon as possible. And the latest and unfortunate issue I have encountered is that there was a minor miscommunication where I was assuming that for the next year the payroll was stopped (I have postponed all business activities of my company) while they were continuing to report payroll wages to EDD for $0 and billing me for the services. I hope we'll be able to work out this misunderstanding and void invoices for $0 wages ;). So, while I have listed a number of issues and errors on their side that I had to catch myself and put my time into resolving, still note that all of them were resolved and they have tried to help and accommodate me in every case and I'm very satisfied with level of attention and motivation from their side that with all of that I still willing to give them 5 star review! read more

My discovery of KeyTax was like serendipity. I had been searching for a new CPA for years. I searched yelp, called offices, and took friends' referrals, but i discovered KeyTax after leaving my physical therapist's office, which is in the same plaza. Some people may think that only rich people have complicated tax filings, but even low and middle income people have complicated tax filings too. I had multiple sources of income last year with complicated dependents, and apparently my filing last year was incorrect. Nguyen was very thorough and served as a consultant for what i could itemize, national averages, what is legal, how i could correct last year's mistake, how to resolve this year's issues, and what i could claim/deduct for next year. She's my third CPA and favorite thus far. My first CPA from SF failed to factor the interest paid on my student loans. When questioned, he said it would cost to make an amendment and it wouldn't make a difference in my return anyways. That turned me off bc my concern was how could he be so absent minded to not regard that? My second CPA from LA was good with deductions but was poor with communication and treated me like I was unimportant. He didn't file my taxes till after the deadline had past. I can tell Nguyen is very dedicated to her work and goes over and beyond for her clients. She is very thorough and personable. She communicated with me every step and action she was taking. Taxes is something l like to procrastinate on. Since most of the time, i feel like Uncle Sam is always garnishing my wages, I dread this time of the year. I did file taxes with them last two years but I did not ask them the itemized price they charge for my returns. This year I asked them to itemize the charges for the new quote they gave and they never respond. I asked them whether the quote they give is random and private for each client or there is some general guideline how they charge so that any of their customer can easily understand how they have been charged. I don't see transparency(fundamentals right) in the business. Apart from this fundamentals, rest filing experience was good. Nguyen spends sufficient time to explain the tax return.
