top of the guide for this region and i think with good reason. The huge grape vines covering the courtyard give a green and cool setting in a very hot and dry part of the world. The staff were the most welcoming of any of the places we stopped in Spain and we're particularly appreciative of our efforts to speak Spanish. As the summer heat had brought out a good many flies by the late afternoon they were also more than happy to move us inside (mid-meal) when the little blighters got too much.
As for the food, some of the most authentic rural delicacies are on offer here. Perhaps lacking some of the frills and touristy additions of the Cabo de Gato region or Granada itself (and a good deal less ham obsessed than its neighbour Trevelez) the cuisine on offer is nevertheless something to be experienced. Baby Goat stews and whole roast rabbit are two of my personal favourites from a fairly extensive list.
though tucked into the village slightly it is exactly halfway "up" this narrow mountain village and with parking out front makes for a very convenient stop on a day trip through the mountains of the Sierra Nevada.
Good food, a nice spot and an extra star for the service alone! read more
