Panhandle vet services was our savior and took care of our horse immediately upon our arrival. When she had to stay the night, they monitored her by camera and came over at midnight when she needed assistance. Dr. Kelli Gibbs did an amazing job and we would highly recommend their services to anyone with a pet who needs healthcare. I am sure you can find a vet who charges less, however, what is even more important is a vet you can trust to do everything that needs to be done to take care of your furry or feathered family member. I stopped using this vet office years ago. My Jack Russell got in a fight with two other dogs and was bad hurt. I took her in and they sewed her mouth up and kept her over night, charged me allot of money and told me to take her home that she would be ok. She died the next morning. This place is horrible and I am not talking just bad cause of a disagreement, I am talking about down right horrible. So 11 or 12 weeks ago my niece's dog got hit in the middle of the night and had a broken leg I was out of town so I sent her money to take her dog to the emergency clinic in Tallahassee well she didn't have enough money for them to do anything so they just ace bandaged it and told her to go to a vet the next day or she went to this vet right here they x-rayed this dog seeing that the leg was completely broken in half did not put his pin in it did not do surgery did not set it just casted it I guess hoping it would fuse together and it did not and here it is 12 weeks later and this dog's leg has not healed at all they're still charging her money and they have done nothing to provide pain relief to provide assistance to fix her dog at all this is a place you take your animal maybe to be put down if they could even do that right I am highly upset I am not a Veterinary myself but I have a volunteer that vet offices and I know that this dog's leg needs pens in it and then needs to be casted these people are ignorant and I don't know what Cracker Jack box they got their license out of but a Dr. Gusek or how ever you spell it is this fur baby's vet. Oh and I almost forgot she also made the cast way too high up on his arm which ended up cutting into his body and causing this dog more pain and discomfort and she neutered this dog and he was not able to get up or use the bathroom or anything and got like a bladder infection or something like that I can't remember what my niece said but this is a horrible horrible place do not take your animals here if they have anything seriously wrong with them.!! My dog had a tumor on his shoulder Dropped him off at 8 am didn't get him back til 5 pm and I had to carry him out. He was still under Anastasia and shpuld not have been released. His 12 years old its dangerous for him at that age. Where the remove the mass looks like a horrible movie job. I had to call a different vet to check him out and fix what they did. They charged me 189.00 for 3 pain pills for him. What is that going to do after they hacked up his leg. After four (4) visits, and $1500.00 in vet bills, my cat has not improved and when I called them about the issues not improving, the front desk got quite nasty with me and my concerns. All they did was provide shots, pills, and liquid medication, and never offered a diagnosis or treatment plan. She has scabs on her neck and shoulders, she has lost lots of fur an continues to loose hair. How they stay in business by neglecting to provide proper treatment, and yet demand payment for what...my pet has made NO progress or improvement with her conditions. Oh yea, they did offer to run more costly test +$350.00, but could not offer any hope for a diagnosis. If you Love your Pets, I'd recommend going someplace else that knows what they are doing. read more

The worst damned place to carry any pet. I had my terrier neutered at that place and they asked before doing the surgery if I would like to purchase the "optional" pain medication. And I stress, "optional" pain medication for surgery and post surgery. These people are hacks plain and simple. One of my business clients told me a horror story about their horse, where they put it down without even calling or consulting with the owner. They suffered a serious loss that was settled out of court and from other testimonials they have played this sick game on several occasions. These people's moto is "How much do you want to actually pay to get good care AND your pet not feel any pain." I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKE THEIR PETS OR LIVESTOCK TO THESE BUTCHERS! So far, so good! The vet tech there saw one of my chickens and did what another vet prior didn't: he checked the fecal. I was so happy that was one of the first things they did without me having to ask. The vet was amazing. He gave me medicine to handle the botulism and genuinely cared about my animals and my concerns. When I was worried if the feed I was giving them would react with or neutralize the medicine, he took his time yo research it and assure me it was safe. I'm so very grateful for him already and will make the two hour trip back on Monday for a follow up to see if my babies are doing better. The facility was clean and the staff was amazing. read more

My wife and I have camped in our camper at Falling Waters State Park a few times, not far from the Panhandle Vet Services, and love the area (2020-2021) There is a lot do and see in the nearby areas and County, but you can't always take your loving pet with you. Although our camper had AC, it had recently showed some symptomatic problems and we didn't feel comfortable leaning out 3-yr old boxer Layla alone. We did some quick research and found that the Panhandle Vet Services would take on Layla as a day-board in their Kennel for only $20.00, (you should always check for present pricing. Be sure to provide up to date vaccination records, we had to call our Vet to provide all vaccine dates, etc. The Panhandle Vet Services allowed any special food, treats, etc. we wanted to leave Layla, they walked her and provide her with special attention. We cannot begin to explain to you how much it meant to us to be able to go off somewhere on our own and not have to worry about our dog Layla. I encourage anyone with a pet than is visiting in this area and you can't take your pet with you, or you need the time alone to feel comforable utilizing the Panhandle Vet Services. I was previously a Operations Mgr. in a very large animal services facility in Florida for fourteen (14-yrs). I sat on several community Pet Partnership Boards, and many Volunteer Services. It seems like someone put a lot of thought into this place. Everyone was beyond kind and attentive. Every inch was spotless & the atmosphere felt so cozy and welcoming. The layout of the the seating area, furniture choices & the little play area for children. Everything was so clean and spacious. When they were finished it magically went up to $25? For a dog nail clipping? I could have taken my dog to a spa treatment for that. I have taken my little man Colt to this Vet 2 times. Once because i did not better ($647) and second time ($402) because of Covid 19, Colt had to have his shots and a Vet my mom switched to that cares more about the Pet than the money, was not taking any new Patients (because of the Covid 19). My moms dog got all the same shots, hart-worm test and medicine at almost half the cost ($230). Colt is running a fever today and is swollen and soar to the touch at 2 places that he was given shots yesterday. Yelp info says it's closed today. Yet here we sit, waiting for our dogs second treatment. Thankfully the waiting room was empty. Walked in, no greeting. Waited till the person with no name tag and no, "Hi, I'm ..."finally turned around with a questioning look, so we took the initiative and explained why were here. She must be a northerner as she rattled off a bunch of words, you'd think she was a disclaimer for a car commercial as fast she spit them out. The place has the worst acoustics, we had to have her repeat it twice, and she just, at bullet speed, said the same things. That didn't clarify anything. The third time she she finally yet rudely explained the choices we had. We'd been here before with a friend that was vacationing and her dog was under a vets care and was having difficulty breathing, when friend returned home her vet wasn't at all happy with this docs diagnosis. My Dog is very old. This vet service is interested in MONEY only. They will not fill a prescription med from CHEWY, because they want to be my supplier. They overcharge for the medicine and don't give you but a weeks worth. I'm trying to keep my dog comfy from pain until she leaves. What the heck. MONEY HUNGRY!!!! I won't go back there, I'd rather drive 30 miles out of my way. She has had her bloodwork, they just want to do more to charge more. End of story for them. read more

I would say the doctor was 4.0 on the diagnosis. My Great Pyrenees was diagnosed with bone cancer but was not 100% sure until blood work was sent off to the lab. When handed the bill I was a little disappointed in the $985 charge. The charge included x-rays that was more than my dentist charges also in the charge with blood work that was more than my private doctor charges. The doctor told me that if it was bone cancer Jake would probably only live to just two to six months. They would know for sure in a few days by the results of the blood work. I was keeping my fingers crossed that the blood work would come back negative. I called the next week to get the results they could not find where the blood work was ever sent off they said they would call me back. I called the following week and they still cannot find the blood work even though I was charged for it. I recently adopted a Basset mix from the Chipley shelter and Panhandle is where he was taken for vaccinations and nuetering. I spoke to Panhandle several times and gave them my credit card information, so they must have known I was concerned for my new puppys care. Unfortunately I was very dissapointed in the care my pet recieved at this clinic. I sent a friend of mine who's a vet tech to pick him up and when they brought my puppy out they were dragging him by the leash, my friend immediately reached down and picked him up. When my pet arrived at his new home he was totally infested with fleas and full of tapeworms! I woulda gladly paid extra for fleas meds and whatever else my new puppy needed. I cant belive that anyone let alone a Veterinary clinic thats supposed to care for a helpless animals well being would release an animal in their care in this condition let alone operate on a puppy in this condition. My current Vets entire staff are animal lovers and go above and beyond to ensure that animals in their care are taken care of. Shame on the entire staff of Panhandle! If you dont love animals then all of you are in the wrong profession! read more

They took my cat in, left him in a heating pad where he died, unattended all nite. The charge was )391. Then they handed me my dead cat in a garbage bag. Horrible experience. I have had two of my pets misdiagnosed by Panhandle Vet in Chipley. The service was actually very good before they expanded. Dr. George is a very good vet. Unfortunately, growth in business, has made access to him very limited. One of my major issues is that they seem to want to cure EVERYTHING with the antibiotic XXX, which costs about 22.00. Before I caught on to this very keen way of making money for them, I would return and return trying to find out the infection my pet had. I finally wised up and tried DIXIELAND in Bonifay. Apparently, the antibiotic that panhandle kept prescribing would have NEVER cured the type of infection my pet had. In addition, one of my pets was scheduled for a tooth extraction when he didn't even need it. Another vet in town that I took him to laughed at how remiss that diagnosis was. There was some darkening around the tooth, but that didn't warrant a tooth extraction and most definitely was not the root of the infection. I have to wonder if each doctor has some sort of quota that must be met. I've been in sales most of my life and their attempt at a sale is soft is obvious and pretty tacky. I'd have to sat the female doctor is the worst at this. With 8 pets it's rather difficult to travel a distance. I admit that I still use them because of their proximity to my home. They , sadly, sometimes are a necessary evil. It's a business, I understand, but at least offer a competent diagnosis. They'd make a lot more money by curing pets, even those with the mildest ailments versus nickel and dimeing the 22.00 antibiotic and return visit fees to death! read more

I took my German shepherd to them ONE time as an emergency visit. They did their best to keep the cost as low as possible. He died that night after taking him home. They were so good to us! They accurately gave us a diagnosis which gave our family a few precious hours to spend with him making the best of it. Dr Mitchell encouraged us that he would be most comfortable at home... And he was. He passed while in my arms and surrounded by his favorite things. I couldn't have asked for a better situation in our circumstance. She called the next morning to check on us. A few days later, I received a sympathy card signed by the whole staff.... All for one patient they saw ONE time. I would take my future pets to them in a heartbeat! read more

An excellent animal hospital. They have taken wonder care of our miniture schnauzers for years. Everyone is very friendly and extremely compassionate. I really enjoy the way the vets review the options and the costs ahead of time and allow the owner to make the decisions. They taken emergency calls at 11:00 pm from us, called us twice a day with updates when our pets have been hospitalized and looked after us while having to make a difficult "end of life" decision about a 13 1/2 year old schnauzer. We think that is outrageous and will be changing vets. I agree with above comment also about charging extra for pain medication before and after neutering or spaying. Please Please Please, do NOT take your pet to this clinic! Sadly I did not read the reviews here before taking my dog to them. We took our dog to have bladder stones removed. The first thing they gave me was a form to accept or decline "optional" things like IV fluids during surgery, pain meds after surgery, blood work, and pain meds to come home with! Of course each item was an additional charge of 20-75 dollars each. Seems to me these should all be included and certainly not OPTIONAL!!!! Apparently if you want your pet to be WELL taken care of you have to "upgrade" your services. My daughter is a vet tech and when I told her that the doctor didn't even try to encourage that she come home with pain meds, she called the Dr. sadistic as best! They also did not suggest any type of cone to keep her from licking her stiches. I've never had a dog that had to have surgery before so I didn't know to ask about this. Again, my daughter says this should have been standard. I called this morning to ask about these things and I was told sure, then can do that for $35.00! Of course, I'll pay it, but what if I couldnt? These people do not seem to care about the animals well being at all but rather how many different "options" they can charge for. After 20 years of taking our pets and horses to Dr. George and Panhandle Veterinary Services, I looked up the phone number on the Internet and found this opportunity to post about my experiences. Over the years, Dr. George was joined, first, by Dr. Todd Anderson and later by Dr. Ann Lindholm. I loved Dr. George and thought I would always make appointments with him, but, emergencies and schedules have required me to see Dr. Anderson and Dr. Lindholm. I should have known that they would be the best if Dr. George brought them into his practice. My visit today was typical of the consistently high quality of care my horses have always received at Panhandle Vet. Dr. George took care of them, and though I told him he should have a vet tech do the "dirty work," he said the doctors don't delegate veterinarian responsibilities. If an animal is injected, a vet does it. I've watched Dr. Anderson skillfully suture three layers of skin, with nearly a hundred stitches, on a horse's eyelid and later wondered which eye it was--there was no scar. Just after Christmas, Dr. Lindholm drove to our home to put down my mare. Her compassion was so appreciated. When my daughter's horse had a huge tumor on his nose and mouth, Dr. George surgically removed it and consulted with her as she tried to fight the cancer. I have called Dr. George after hours and weekends with problems, and he advised me and told me how to deal with the problems--always assuring me that I can call him back for further help. Routine procedures or special problems are handled with skill and care. I have never wondered if I should go somewhere else. I travel two hours round-trip to see the veterinarians at Panhandle Vet. I know they are the best, most knowledgable, and skilled professionals anywhere. I feel lucky to have the caliber of care and expertise available at any distance. They have been my dachshund's vet since he was 6 weeks old. Another vet recommended we put our dachshund asleep at 5 weeks because of a heart malfunction. We took him to Panhandle for a second opinion, and they diagnosed him with a heart murmur. They said he should be able to live a happy, normal life until he gets older. He also contracted Parvo that was brought onto our property, and Panhandle help recover him. Now at 6.5 years old, his back/spine has been his greatest downfall. He lost mobility in his back legs and he is incontinent. Panhandle has been great in diagnosing and helping us weigh options. They did not recommend euthization, but rather us try our best to see if meds would help the swelling and then try rehabilitation. Also they gave us a reference to a surgeon if it doesn't get better. I am thankful that they are pet-centered. I contribute my dachshund still being alive to him being one heck of a little fighter, and to the expertise and compassion of the individuals at Panhandle Veterinary Services. read more
