The day of the appointment I got a call from someone else (stylist B) saying that she was running 20 min behind and asked if I could come 20 min later than scheduled, I said sure and that's what I did. I get there and stylist B greets me, this is when I realized she isn't the person I booked with, based on the picture. She said "your haircut is now with Stylist C and pointed to another woman standing by the desk. I had no choice in the matter and was already very annoyed but the switch ups but didn't feel like I could say no, plus I needed a haircut. Let's just say I was less than thrilled with stylist C and the haircut I ended up with. Also very unhappy with how unprofessional stylist B was, she never mentioned she is taking over my appointment, and she called to change the appointment time and was still unavailable. I also want to mention that I emailed the salon sharing my disappointment and have not heard back at all.. no apology, explanation or anything. So if you have a preference for a stylist make sure they don't change things up on you! Very disappointing customer service.

The baseless attacks on my character are unacceptable, and it's disheartening to see lies and opinions spread publicly without any attempt to understand my side of the story. I want to share my incredibly distressing experience at Lua Nova Salon. I walked in excited for a new hairstyle, having shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted--a long bob (LOB) with layers. However, from the very first cut, I sensed something was off. The stylist next to mine reacted with wide eyes, looking back and forth between my hair and the floor, which immediately raised my concerns. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed as the stylist butchered my hair. Instead of the layers I requested, I left with a blunt cut short bob that was nothing like what I had envisioned. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave while still in shock and tears. My distress made the stylist uncomfortable--yes, MY tears over my butchered hair were making HER uncomfortable. I was asked to leave looking like this, which made the situation all the more horrifying. I can't believe I walked into a place where, within 15 minutes, all my hair was chopped off, and I was treated as if I were the issue. I felt dismissed and invalidated during a moment that was deeply personal to me. I cannot express how heartbroken I am over this experience. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I strongly advise against sitting in Emma Carlson's chair, as my experience with her was nothing short of horrendous. Please be cautious if you decide to visit this salon. What was meant to be a fresh cut to help me take a step forward in overcoming my deep depression has only made things 20 times worse. I hope others have a better experience, but I certainly will not be returning. I will be surprised and blessed if I make it out of this one. This has truly been an absolute nightmare and one of the worst days of my life. The first picture is my hair before I walked in; the second is the picture I showed the stylist for reference. I've been coming to Hair-O-Smith regularly since April 2018, when I decided to do my side shave and having already had my first positive experience the previous July when I did a simple trim and dye to hide those pesky grays for a wedding I was in. Alison has been my gal and she's awesome. We usually just do a monthly touch up on my side shave (husband does one in between cause my hair grows so fast and I can't afford going there THAT many times lol), but I've been branching out more recently and we've started to do little designs in the shave and I recently added some red to the front for funsies. I just shoot her a text a few days before I'm ready to come in and she has no trouble fitting me in. The NE location is convenient as well because I can just pop over real easily during lunch or after work. I never thought I'd be the girl who went to the salon, but for this one at least I'm glad to have found a chill and laid back place! PS - there is a (clearly marked) parking lot attached so that you don't have to park in the street, although there is plenty of street parking all the times I've gone as well.

I showed Casey a picture and she immediately began the process. Although I was there 3 hours, it did not feel like it. She was very efficient and we had a good amount of time chatting but also solo time. She made sure it was the way I wanted my hair, and told me to call if I had any problems or questions about the care! Definitely recommend for price and quality of perm! ($180 for short length hair)

Which, if you've had major color services in the past, you probably know is not always the case. And all the color she's done for me has grown out beautifully, which is a must for someone as lazy as I am about actually making it into the salon. She also doesn't push products -- she's happy to walk you through anything you have questions about and make recommendations, but you don't leave feeling like you've been pressured into buying things you don't need. After returning to my regular gal for a brow wax, I realized how much bang I got for my buck with Heidi, and have since returned to Heidi and will continue to for as long as she works at Jaide. Heidi was efficient, yet took time to get the job done right. She's sweet, friendly and very easy to talk to during the appointment. But most importantly, I always love my brows when I leave. She gets set up and welcomes me in. She's so friendly! I tell her what I was looking for and she reconfirmed the length of my cut. She shampoos and blow dries my hair, all the while we're just chitchatting. Did I mention how friendly she is?! I tell her about the couples photos I was going to take with my boyfriend the next day and ask about hair curling tips since my hair cannot hold curls. She mentions a few products and then continues on with my cut. After she was finished, she actually curled my hair for me and then instructs me on the technique and product she uses. After she was done, my hair held curls. Such healthy beautiful possible curls! So I'm writing this review a day after my haircut and my curls are still intact. Pakou made the impossible possible.
