Its Panera Bread... corporate chain, but always quality! Location & Ambiance: Its location is good, and ambiance is the same as every Panera Bread! Not much to be said about either one of these. Drinks: I am putting this as its own section, because they have so many options! I personally go with the B-Green breakfast smoothie quite often, because its is tasty and who doesn't want a tasty drink with breakfast! Food: Never had anything I didn't like at Panera Bread! I usually go with the power breakfast sandwiches, or for lunch get a half tuna sandwich with half a cup of chicken noodle soup. Service & Staff: The service was average, and the staff is usually nice. Not much else to say about that! Overall, this Panera Bread, like all others, seems to be good and leave me satisfied. Yum yum yum, but can get a little expensive for a lunch. This location is clean, nice, and even though it is one of the bigger paneras it gets super crowded during lunch and you have to almost fight for a table, but I guess that is what is expected during lunch. You do get the food pretty quickly though. I tried the new spinach power salad with the Mediterranean sandwich, both are delicious, and are considered a "healthier" option . The spinach salad was very simple, but it was extremely good. There was spinach, egg, mushrooms, olive oil and bacon. All of the flavors went well together. The sandwich was a little hard to consume, the pita bread wouldn't stay together and the cucumbers were falling out. Overall though, this sandwich tastes very different from all the the other panera sandwiches... in a good way! This is a pretty solid Panera. The one in Libertyville is quieter, but other than that they are pretty similar. It's usually pretty busy around lunch here during the week. Even though the name of the restaurant is Panera Bread, there are gluten-free options here or at any Panera. They have a binder behind the counter with ingredient lists and allergen information that you can ask to see. I wouldn't try this during the lunch rush though. read more

The drive through lane is a one way and there's no way to turn around so once your in your stuck! It is located behind the building and hard to notice if you have never been there. My order is either always wrong or something is missing from my bag, and they forget my cup of water every time. Stopped in to grab some dinner. I waited for a person who looked bored or sleepy mumble 'I can help you.' I ask if Panera offered grilled chicken. He just stared at me. I asked again if there was grilled chicken as I am unfamiliar with the menu choices and thought someone who worked there would help. He said, "we have chicken that pulled. That's it." I guess I am accustomed to helpful staff from other Panera locations but have never had dinner there so was unfamiliar and just wanted some assistance. I just ordered a soup and drove across the street and bought a grilled chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A to complete my dinner meal! Thanks Panera. This, to me, is a 5 star Panera. I've been to some terrible locations, but this one is not. To address a few of the reviews here: yes the line service can be slow, but if you look around, there are 2 other ways to order. There are many kiosks, where you skip the line and order electronically. Or, there's a little metal number on each table. You can simplify order from your phone or computer, and just put your table number in. No matter which way you order, the food is brought to your table. No more annoying buzzing things that Panera used to use, and they don't yell out your name. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is larger than you might expect, and when I went, not only was everything completely clean, but someone was coming out to keep the tables and carpet clean. The food is Panera food, which, to me, hasn't been the same since they changed the menu. However, everything was very well made. Even the cherry pastry was the freshest I've ever had at a Panera. So, perhaps people who work here have read some of the older reviews and changed for the better. Regardless, this is now my go-to Panera location. read more

The manager was incredibly unprofessional in regards to a situation involving dirty tables. The tables were, in fact, excessively dirty. The cops were called which was completely unnecessary, as the costumer was simply stating a fact and was requesting them to be cleaned so she could enjoy her meal. Rather than getting a rag to clean the table, as most managers would., she called the cops. I have never witnessed such terrible costumer service. read more

I come here a lot and usually have good service. Today at 6:30 pm this place was empty. I was second in line and people started piling in behind me. I had to wait 10 minutes just to place my order and was not happy. The manager walked up to the register and then disappeared again into the back. The poor girl taking orders was trying to slice bread and gather muffins for someone while the line behind me kept getting longer... where did the manager go? Why didn't he help take orders? Larry David type story here. Ordered the soup and sandwich deal. Asked for my sandwich on white bread. Then I go to pay and the guy goes click to add a tip. A tip at Panera bread? I clicked no. Guy kinda gave me a look didn't think anything of it. Food comes out and what do you know it's on whole wheat bread. Not a fan of that bread and explain to the guy I ordered on white. He looks at me and walks away. Does nothing!! The Vernon Hills Panera is usually the place of choice, but not this time. My Mother-In-Law was quite ill so I went to Panera to takeout their Pick-2 for her. The Order was badly provided. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until we opened it up at my Mother-In-Law's apartment. Of course it was her part of the order which was forgotten. I had to drive all the way back to Panera to get it fixed; a 15 minute drive. Upon arrival I said, "Your guys F****ed up my order." The manager took issue with my language and dressed me down in front of other patrons of the restaurant. She finally begrudgingly said she would refund my money. Well, I actually wanted my Mother-In-Law's meal. I left empty handed and no refund and bought her lunch from a Panera Bread in Lincolnshire. The promise of order accuracy and fixing mistakes, which is printed in every receipt, is apparently corporate hyperbole. read more

New location. We walked in at 7:15 pm on Saturday night. The menu was confusing so we told the single counter person we each wanted soup and half a tuna sandwich. She said they were out of every bread but rye and they could not toast it. The shelves and baskets were completely empty except for maybe six bagels. No pastry...nothing. The dining room looked like a hospital cafeteria with dirty rug and several dirty tables. We finally found one and scrapped the crumbs off. I love panera! especially their soufflés !! But at this location the last 4 times they have given me the wrong thing! I always order the four cheese soufflé and last time they gave me spinach and bacon I could understand if this was a one time mistake but I usually order things to go so I don't notice until I'm at work so today I ordered a four cheese soufflé and a pecan roll when I got to work and opened the soufflé I realized it was tomato feta and a cinnamon roll not pecan roll for $8 and to completely give me the wrong order is ridiculous I won't be visiting this location anymore read more

Stay Away - This location sells stale, day-old bread! The quality of food, especially the bread, has dropped since they moved to the new location. The staff are nice, but they are aways out of bread and pastries. When they do have bread, it is stale and hard. When we complained, several employees confirmed that they have been selling day-old bread because they are too busy to bake during the day. Since my wife is such a fan of Panera bread, she took the trouble to inform their customer service about her experience, hoping they would correct the situation. Instead, all we got from the District Manager and Corporate was denial. No apology, no commitment to correct the situation, nothing! We stayed away for a couple of months and tried again last week. Ordered mac and cheese and a strawberry / banana smoothie for pickup via the app. The smoothie was half blended - the cup was half ice chunks and half blended fruit etc. The mac and cheese was also half cooked - the sauce was not liquid, but clumped and pasty, and the macaroni was like rubber. Probably the worst Panera order I've ever had. Wish I'd ordered this for a sit-in, because I would have definitely complained and asked for a redo, and this review wouldn't have been necessary. As it is, I got home before I had a chance to sample. Reading some of the previous reviews, I see I'm not alone in the opinion of the service here. I came in on one of those days that it extremely cold (which is everyday in Chicago), and felt like the only way to keep myself from becoming a block of ice was to pour really hot liquid into my stomach. With that said, I, of course, ordered one of their soups! The girl at the register was extremely helpful and sensing my indecisiveness, offered to bring me a few samples of the soups to try out without me even having to ask! I eventually settled on a bowl of their Creamy Chicken + Rice soup with a side of bread, and it was just what the doctor ordered. The soup wasn't mind blowing, but it was hot and flavorful. My only complaint was that the bread was a tad too chewy for my liking. Personally, I prefer a harder bread (e.g. French baguettes). Otherwise, with their extremely reasonable prices and their fairly quality food, Panera is a great lunch spot! read more

And with having 3 kids in my car that is a huge plus for not having to run in because I hate eating mcdonalds unless we are on a road trips which isnt that often. Food is always good. Food is great, but check your carry-out order. Family ordered five sandwiches, four salads and a bowl of soup. Questioned size of carry-out package, but was assured it looked small because there were so many sandwiches. After driving about twelve miles to our destination, we discovered we were missing two sandwiches, the bowl of soup, and the Fuji apple salad did not have any Fuji apples in it.
