The som thum is perfectly balanced, and they can make it just the way you like it. I ordered mine at spice level 7, and it was perfect! The ginger salt and pepper shrimp and squid are a must-try. They're crispy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. On my latest visit, I tried the Pad Thai for the first time, and it was excellent! great flavor without being overly sweet. The service is always friendly, and the food comes out quickly. If you're looking for authentic Thai and Lao flavors, I highly recommend Som Thum Thai. I'll definitely be back!

I placed a to-go order of sesame chicken with fried rice, wonton soup and chicken fresh rolls. My order took about 10-15 minutes. So it did take not too long. The food was prepared fresh so everything was nice a hot even after a short 10 min drive to get back home. The wonton soup was excellent. The chicken fresh rolls were decent, but some of the lettuce was not so fresh. Also, the peanut sauce was a little runny for my taste. The sesame chicken was pretty good, however, the fried rice was a little bland. Overall, I would say it was a decent lunch. But I would say, considering they are a little pricier than most Thai restaurants, I was expecting a little more wow. I will definitely give them another try.

Today I had the farmhouse hash; also highly recommend the steak chimichurri hash on special menu right now (had that last time). My husband recommends the Chickichanga. Today though I would rate service a 3: first time ever for not so great service. We ordered the Million Dollar Bacon (appetizer), as we usually do & then placed our orders. I also asked for a water (we both had coffee already). When our waitress brought our plates out, my husband asked where the Million Dollar bacon was. She said she'd go check. She brought it to the table & said it was sitting there. I asked about my water & she left. Our bacon was COLD...assuming it had been sitting the whole time while our entrees were being made. Couldn't even complain because we never saw her again until we were finished & got our bill. I never got my water either. Again, this is not the norm for service there. I will however, not want this server again. I did not get her name (didn't think to get a copy of my receipt).

The food smells so good. The only thing I'd recommend is checking your order before you leave. It always seems like with my or my wife's order something is always missing but regardless the team always makes it right. Mistakes happen and they correct those mistakes every time.

I did not order an alcoholic beverage since I came on a Sunday during lunch hours. I tried the fried gizzards, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I didn't think anything I had was bad. This was my first time trying fried gizzards so I'm not really sure how the texture is supposed to be like, but it was pretty tough to chew so I guess that's how it's supposed to be like. I also tried their chicken n dressing, spaghetti, and deviled eggs. You can choose spaghetti as your side! I don't think any of it was bad, either. I also tried their wings. Their wings wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me. My favorite items from here were the deviled eggs (very yummy) and the regular baked cornbread. I felt the cornbread was cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry at all. I've had some at other places where it was dry or hard, but here, I really liked it. It also had a really nice sweet taste to it. Their sweet tea was really good, too! In all, I didn't have a bad experience, but would like to come back in the evening to try their bar out and try some other items on their menu. May update my review later when I come back and bring my stars up once I get to try more items. The prices here were really good!

I'm willing to come back and give this establishment another try.
