While waiting for my baby's appointment to be finished I decided to stop in and get some tea and some cookies for us after the appointment. Panera is Panera, and as it is with all fast-casual places, nothing should vary much from location to location. However, this is now my go to since they closed the one on Fifth St. I stick with four things: the strawberry poppyseed chicken salad, the cream of chicken and wild rice soup, the bagels (asiago and sesame) and the orange scone. Everything else has not even come close to how great these items are. I really wish they would reopen fifth street though, it was so great to walk there on a lunch break and sit in that little park on a nice day. read more

What doesn't add up is attention to a pandemic. The only staff wearing a mask were the cashiers. I couldn't see completely into the back, however the two women bagging the food were wearing chin masks. I'm sure this wasn't the design intent, but that's all they covered. It's a decent portion and not overly sweet. The steel cut oats provide that nice chewy texture I like my oatmeal to have. The strawberries and pecans bring a nice, healthy touch. I drizzle @maplegrovefarms sugar free syrup over top to finish it off. It is not low on carbs as you may have guessed. It has 51 grams of carbs but 9 grams of fiber equaling 42 net carbs. This new Panera location in the first floor of the UofL Physician Outpatient Center was a welcome site on the UofL Health Science Campus. This location allows so many different options for orders- mobile, via kiosk, or in person. It has been so easy to order from your phone and then arrive at Panera minutes later to pick up your order. The pastries have been solid and delicious, and the bagels have been delicious. The staff is fresh and new, and they have been friendly, courteous and willing to help however they can. So far the only downside I've had is that my pasta meals could have been better- the pasta sacchietini was a little undercooked. I suspect with a little bit more time this location is just going to get better and better. read more

Ok, most should know that restaurants are having staffing issues. So... I can understand that. I cannot understand why this Panera bread decided to close drive through on a Friday. Close the dine-in, and have the few employees handle pickups and the line at the drive-through. Gross. Ordered a drink with my meal, went to test the prickly pear lemonade and found it to be rotten. I should have asked for my money back right then. For my meal I ordered the bacon chicken bonanza on cheddar focaccia, grilled. Sandwich came out soggy, near rotten tomato's had melted into the bread. I pulled them off one half and choked it down, chicken tasted musty. Well then When I pulled the other half apart to take the mealy nasty tomatoes off, I noticed little black hairs on the turkey, from some kind of pet. Nauseating. This place is nasty. read more

My order was correct, but the salad was ridiculously tiny! This was my entire meal and it didn't even fill up half the container. In addition, the avocado wasn't ripe and was hard as a rock. Did a to go on a Greek Salad. The salad wasn't bad, but I feel like considering it was $11 it should have a bit more fresh ingredients. The olives were pretty dried up. Came with a baguette which looked like someone ripped in half with hands instead of cutting it with a knife. What a delightful staff! These (mostly) women are vying for the happiest place on earth. You can order online, at a kiosk or in person. the place is usually happening, yet they keep things moving and have the BEST attitude. I hung out inside to eat and every encounter I overheard for the busy hour of 12:30-1:30 was friendly and upbeat. The bacon, egg and cheese in an everything bagel is so good. Sure it's a large chain and I typically like to support local chains but Panera has always had a solid product, nice facilities and good customer service. The have the pickup option which goes like clock work if you call ahead. The wait may take a minute but it's because their sandwiches are made fresh to order. Best if you walk to this location because the traffic downtown can be a bear, especially with all of the construction, and you have to pay to park during normal business hours. read more

I used to come here everyday for my lunch, and get coffee with a snack in the evening, not anymore. Per my usual routine, I used a kiosk to order a pastry and coffee. Went to grab the coffee and waited 5 min for the pastry. Finally, I got in line and politely asked the cashier if he could grab my pastry. He replies with a snarky remark, "You gotta use the counter and not the kiosk when you order that" and then another lady behind the counter shakes her head at me and adds "Emg Emg Emg, we dun do dat". I replied, "None of what you said made any sense", took my pastry and then left. I don't know what was going on that day, but this kid clearly wanted to give me a lesson on how his store was run and to let me know who was welcome and who was not. I made the mistake of going there again a few months later. Same sort of BS with the rude staff, this time with a lady who forgot to fill ice in their fountain machine. Never seen a 2 star rating on Panera anywhere. Ever. Now I know why....yesterday morning (Saturday) I came to this location as I just moved to this side of town. For some reason, they don't open until 9 and not knowing this because every Panera in the world opens from 6-8 am, I stopped by at 850am and was denied entry via a "CLOSED" shout from the girl setting up the bakery-thru the window. Today, I sent my girlfriend for some lunch and she ended up at the same Panera. We ordered a "you pick 2" --corn chowder and salad, and a bacon turkey bravo. No sundried tomato basil bread; instead they put it on ciabatta. Which I somewhat understand...however, the food was crammed into a small bag which broke on her way back to the apartment. I am in love with Panera. Let just start off with that. Rarely do I ever order breakfast but I realized how great their steel cut oatmeal is. I ordered it this morning and it got to my office within 15-20 minutes. The gentleman who delivered it was beyond friendly and was super polite. There was a little hiccup with the order but it was a fixed after a short call explaining the situation and a new oatmeal was sent out to me along with a cookie and an orange juice. I just had the worst customer experience of my life ordering from this store. I placed an order online and later received a message that my order was arriving. 15 minutes later my order was still not there. I finally received my order about 20 minutes after the message said it was arriving. After looking at my order I noticed that I was missing a pumpkin muffie and a cobblestone that I had ordered and paid for. I had to call the store 4 times to get someone to pick up the phone. The young boy that answered was not very friendly. I told him I wanted the missing items delivered. He told me that they didn't have any drivers so it would be a little bit. 10 minutes later I get a call that they are out of the cobblestones and wanted to see what I wanted to get instead. I asked for a cinnamon coffee cake. 20 minutes later a kid arrives with the baked goods but instead of a pumpkin muffie and a coffee cake I was given two pumpkin muffies. I told him it was incorrect and he said "oh well I had already left the store. Sorry." I will never order from this Panera again. I didn't spend $40 on food to not get what I asked and paid for and to be treated like my order doesn't matter. read more
