I only ran in to pick up a baguette. The lady and her two kids in front of me really hasn't started ordering, but she has the cashiers attention. While asking questions about the food, the sides and the drinks she still hasn't made any choices. All I wanted was the bread. This goes on for many many minutes. The woman and her kids gazing aimlessly at the menu, asking many questions and choosing nothing. Finally she makes an order, about fifty bucks of stuff to go. Clearly buying fir a big group. Read back to her the order needed many corrections. Finally after more than ten minutes I got the dang bread. Why someone didn't step up to help the next customer is beyond me. I stopped in to meet a colleague for a work discussion. All I wanted was a cup of coffee and there were at least 3 customers in front of me. I waited patiently , but each order was included more items than I hoped. There was one worker and she was doing her best to keep up with a positive attitude. When I ordered my coffee, she handed me the cup and said thank you for waiting and have a good day, it is on us. This went such a long way, and I have probably told at least 10 people how impressed I was. Because she recognized how long I waited and offered me the cup of coffee, made my day. Bait and switch!! Advertised promotion on TV AND on their site: 20% off on their Pick Two menu for members program. We have been members for years. Checked site before walking in, asked cashier before placing order and were told YES it applies. Between placing the order and paying another cashier stepped in. Checked receipt and we had been charged full price. Questioned cashier and she called over another woman manager who said she had no knowledge of the promotion and IF it existed it was probably expired. When I showed it to her on their site on my phone she said they do honor anything but members points. She started to turn the screen around so I could see my points and I said it wasn't necessary as I BELIEVED HER and the promotion had nothing to do with anything past proving you were a member. Came on a Friday at 11am. No bakery items left but French bread and cinnamon bagels. Tried to order an egg sandwich and was told no as it was after 10:30. Recently, my co workers and I have been having lunch at the Panera Bread in West Dundee. Our food is wonderful, hot, big portions and great to taste. The staff there has gone above and beyond to assist us. Recently I had forgotten to order the additional $1 cup of soup. I'm not sure if the girl taking my order was newer? Or was more used to taking orders in Spanish? But it took me 2-3 minutes to order a breakfast sandwich and an iced latte. When she read my order back to me she said Carmel latte instead of vanilla, but I had been awkwardly standing there for so long that I just wanted it to be done, and I really like Carmel lattes so I was like sure, Carmel. When I got my sandwich 5 or so minutes later (no one inside, but they have a drive thru too) it ended up being a sausage egg and cheese sandwich instead of bacon. Everyone was nice, and I got sort of what I ordered...but it was slow and clearly needs some restructuring and people need more training. read more

The location and employees are fine. My complaint is with the inflation of prices coupled with the shrinkflation of size/quality of baked goods. 1. I think it's crazy that Panera can't get you a soup by 10am. Let's be honest, the soup is in a bag and it can just be poured out and warmed up. I just had the sad experience of ordering a Baja bowl. When my order arrived the amount of food in the bowl looked extremely small. It was so small I walked up to the counter and said is this a half order. They said no that's the amount the company says to put in the bowl. To be honest it looks so small look like a ration. I go here because it's central to tge four of us friends who meet monthly. But that's the only reason we go-it's central. The place is decently cleaned and for the most part the beverages and condiments are fully stocked. The young people who work there are nice enough but they have zero initiative. No questions during order like do you want to use your Panera card or would you like a drink? Ordered the turkey chili (it's their staple soup) and the bacon tomato grilled cheese. So disappointed. The chili tasted like the garbanzo beans were stale and made the soup just taste old. That was sad too because otherwise it was flavorless. The sandwich (half because I did a pick two) was flat, the cheese had oozed out so there was really none left on the sandwich, chopped tomatoes instead of sliced so they fell out and 2 chewy pieces of thin bacon. It's become a running joke that I'm either cursed or someone has a Panera voodoo doll of me pushing the pins into my head & tummy. I've been meaning to post for many months but didn't want to make my first Yelp review a negative one. But now I have to. Since this is my local Panera I'm reviewing this location but my experiences are similar at other places just not as often. There is the convenience factor and Starbucks nearby doesn't have the food options. The facts: I repeatedly have order errors in the drive through One time it was wrong and I came back through to correct it, then it was wrong again. Yes, I should have checked it but I assumed special attention to making it right the second time. I could tell you about the time I ordered a SCRAMBLED egg sandwich, got an over-easy egg, bit into it in a rush in the car, and egg yolk erupted covering legs, center console, arm, and phone. I came back through, showed them the situation and asked for the right sandwich. The girl at the window seemed annoyed I bothered her. 8 minute wait. I get the order, I asked for extra napkins (to clean up) and she said there were some in the bag. I drive away. No napkins in the bag....and the replacement sandwich had the wrong meat on it even though I gave them the original receipt. FYI - egg yolk gets cold and hard fast. I have check my order each time and on at least 4 occasion in as many months it's been wrong. One time I ordered a chai latte. I got a regular coffee after asking what's taking so long and they forgot to make it! they forgot to make it (not drive through). The food is good, like any Panera. The lack of attention to detail on orders is epic. I can't believe there's no protest lines at this place. Oh yeah, one time I was told to pull forward and nobody ever came out. My boyfriend and I were driving around and decided to get Panera for dinner because we saw it and wanted some good food. And we got that and more! We were greeted when we walked in and the cashier was very kind! Our food was out quickly and was the perfect temperature! All of the drinks were fully stocked which isn't always the case at other Paneras. The food tasted great! I love the atmosphere of the restaurant! The workers all seemed to be joking around in the back and I loved that as I work in retail and know how important it is to have fun with your co-workers! The manager walked by and was super kind! We've had a bunch of issues in the past with location. More often than not the order was incorrect, items are forget, etc. but within the last year, they've really turned around. If you've had an issue in the past, I'd recommend trying them again! read more
