This is my favourite restaurant in Lindsay. They use all seasonal fresh local ingredients and is an Italian menu! Although everything I have ate has been brilliant, some of my favourites include the to die for Gnocchi Quattro Formaggio which is the best 4 cheese sauce with truffle oil. It's small, but very rich. The Gamberetti is lovely! It's tiger shrimp, garlic butter, and a sambuca sauté. You definitely can't go wrong with the spaghetti polpette! Don't be distracted my the fancy name, it's basically simple meatball and marina, but so wonderful! I promise no matter what you choose you will be completely satisfied! The ambiance is perfect. It's comfortable and has warmth with a perfect elegance. Whether you want to go out for a date or even grab a bite alone. Pane Vino - Beautiful ambiance! - Italian Near Me - Lindsay, Ontario

We were in town visiting relatives and we had the pleasure of having dinner at Pane Vino. The food was amazing and the wait staff along with the owner were amazing hosts checking in frequently to make sure everything was just right. My only suggestion for improvement is to get rid of the televisions. Trust the hard work that went into the decor which invites conversation and interaction. All throughout our fantastic dinner we commented that our attention was constantly being pulled visually to the televisions. Maybe a compromise is to keep the TVs for game nights but turn them off during dinner service. I trust you'll make the best decisions for what customers want. read more

We were celebrating our 49 anniversary so we wanted to do so at a fine dining establishment. Fine dining is very hard to find in Lindsay. Upon checking the internet we found the Pane Vino Trattoria and wine bar. The photos of the inside were beautiful and upon entering we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was also perfect as was the service and the staff. That's where it all ended. We noticed that most of the food that was listed in the website was not available. The menu was mostly in Italian which I don't speak and written in such a small font made it even harder to understand. When I asked the waiter about the photo on the website showing a plate with chicken he stated that they did not serve chicken. He did however point out that they did make some wicked pizzas. Everyone raved about their pizza. This was a good thing because more than 50 % of they're main courses were pizza. I started off with a caesar salad which looked and tasted nothing like what everyone else would call a Caesar Salad. In fact, it was terrible and I couldn't finish it. We did order their Salmon plate and it was delicious. I can say that the service was great and the wait staff was polite and efficient. However, make no mistake. This is Boston Pizza dressed up to look like a fine dinning restaurant. With two glasses of wine, one horrible salad, and 2 Salmon dinners the bill came to $109.00 which is really not that bad these days. But just because you put nice curtains and music in Pizza Hutt, it does not become fine dinning. We would not be likely to return. One more thing. I was working in Lindsay for the past 2 months and came to eat at pane vino twice. The first time was for a talk given by a pharmaceutical company and the second time was a dinner that was sponsored by the local hospital. The first meal I ordered the butternut squash soup (which was the soup of the day) and the chicken with sweet potato purée. The soup was good after mixing the dollop of cream atop. The chicken breast was tender and juicy. Overall a relatively decent meal. The second meal I had I ordered a pizza with prosciutto and arugula. The pizza was topped with lots of arugula. I did find that the combination of the cheese and prosciutto made the pizza a bit too salty. To the point were I was actually taking off the prosciutto (which unfortunately didn't help with the saltiness). For dessert, I had the tarfula (?) which was chocolate and raspberry ice cream. Delicious! The restaurant has beautiful decor and the paintings on the wall are for sale by local artists I believe. Overall pane vino is a good restaurant with more unique eats than what you would get at some of the establishments nearby. read more

Had a great experience here. Very helpful staff, a delightful and kind proprietor/sommelier, and the food was also very nice. I am not a huge fan of Italian food, but the reviews in the area sent me here as we had a theatre show to attend nearby. We arrived 20 min late for our reso, and even with a full restaurant they accommodated us, fed us, chatted wine with us, smiled at us, and made for a fabulous pre-theatre experience. Go here. Not only, the best in Lindsay but one of the better restaurants in Ontario!. Discovered this place and now it is a go-to for us, whenever in the area. Wine list is superb, great craftbeers as well. I've had Lamb for dinner, sandwiches for lunch and had easily the best tomato soup ever! Pizzas are phenomenal. Highly recommended. read more

I landed here for lunch. Yelp helped me find what I assume is one of the nicer restaurants In town. I was met with a warm reception and offered a table near the bar. After the waitress informed me of the special, I decided on a sure thing, the soup of the day which I believe was the butternut squash purée a mixed greens salad and a prosciutto panini. I saw another review mentioning heavy use of arugula, that was also the case for me. The prosciutto panini was packed with a lot of prosciutto , maybe a bit too much balsamic vinigar. The food was OK, not exciting, but not bad. I'll try again on the dinner menu... Don't let my gripes turn you away though,.. as far as I know this is the only place within a half hour where the food doesn't come from a box or can. Definitely worth a visit :) read more

Food here is good but they don't change the menu often enough. Also, they will not make any changes to the dishes on the menu which for a " fine dining" restaurant is very strange. So if your meal comes with potato and you want to substitute a salad they won't do it and make you order a salad from the appetizer menu. Doesn't encourage you to want to return :( read more

What a Gem! In a little town close to our cottage called Lindsay, Ontario there's a little Italian place called Pane Vino (translation Bread and Wine). Lindsay doesn't have much by way of gastronomical experiences.... there's plenty of places that'll give you gas and I'm not talking about the kind that you put in your car either. So when Pane Vino opened we were intrigued. We tried booking several times but found we could never get a reservation! Since our cottage is a seasonal property we continually missed opportunities to eat here over the passed two summers. Well just this passed summer toward the end of august we finally got a table for four. In my family my wife prefers salads and pastas, my oldest daughter (the foodie) likes sea bass, the younger daughter mac and cheese and pizza, myself? Well if you put food down in front of me I'll eat it as long as it was once an animal. Pane Vino has such a nice selection that crosses over to please many different palates. Mainly Italian/Mediterranean flavours (you were expecting something different? Lol). We had the meatball appetizer along with the calamari. I had lamb, one daughter had fish the other had mac and cheese (I'll let you guess which one had which) and my wife had the gnocchi. The service was prompt, very attentive and everything delicious. The owner came and greeted us and asked how everything was. In short this place had all the hallmarks of a much more sophisticated and downtown-Toronto-style product and they found a waypoint both fit in and to fill a desperate need in a little town that was begging for something like this to come along for a very long time. So why the four stars and not five you ask? I have to knock that one star off because of seating/availability. We tried booking his place again two weeks later. Again we could not get reservations till 8:30 pm. This seems to be a bit of a recurring theme it would appear. I mean it took nearly two years for us to get in here to have a meal. It is a good size establishment. Could it be bigger? Tough question to answer from an overall perspective. I suppose purely from a customers viewpoint the demand is clearly there (at least in the summer). Some people might say well why not just go earlier? Sorry, when I'm at the cottage I'm not interested in cutting a day out on the lake swimming or doing water sports short at 4 pm so we can go get ready for our 5 o'clock dinner reservation: and 8 pm is way too late for those of us with young kids. I say expand the place!!!!!!! How about a rooftop patio (we had some beautiful nights this past summer) that would be a terrific option. Either way, the food is the reason to be there. It is definitely a great reason to go and it will definitely be a reason for my family and I to come back again. Hopefully we'll get lucky or bite the bullet and go early. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Pane Vino. The pasta was hand made with local free range eggs, the lamb and all the other meat is locally sourced. The owner was very attentive and made a great selection of wine for us and even offered some complementary desert wine. The sauces were incredible in the pasta dishes, the calamari and Mediterranean fish was cooked beautifully. I can't wait to go back again. The chef brought out our delicious desert and asked us about our meal. In my opinion the best place to eat a really high quality meal in the kawaratha's. read more
