Instead, I decided to send the technicians away, purchased the disposal from Amazon for $100, and completed the installation myself in 30 minutes. It only took this long because I needed to follow a YouTube tutorial to ensure everything was done correctly. This experience leads me to believe that the pricing here is significantly inflated. Essentially, they were asking for $350 for what amounted to about 20 minutes of labor. I hope that either karma or better business practices will eventually catch up with this company. read more

It is hard to find a plumber in Los Angeles and I got a card in the mail from Papas Plumbing. My water heater was not working properly so I decided to call Papa's and I  talked to Robert. Papa's plumbing is probably the best plumbing service I've ever hired for my condo building. They were incredibly responsive, intelligent, and identified un-seen issues. Personally, I had them repipe my laundry room (they did a great job), but I also had them attend to annual maintenance on the building's drain lines (hydro-jetting), and flushing of our water heaters - and some major repiping work the building's drain lines and some corroded water lines. Though their costs were a bit higher then a few other bids I collected, I took stock in all of the 5 star reviews I found for them online -- and I am completely happy with my decision to do so. The work was performed IMPECCABLY well, and they really went above and beyond to deliver high quality restoration. I'm SUPER happy I went with them. Tony did everything we wanted and more--replaced our garbage disposal, fixed a leaking shower, caulked some gaps that were a concern, and took a look under the house to make sure there weren't any other leaks to worry about. Not only did Tony wear booties to cover his shoes, he laid out a tarp to protect the floor and even cleaned up after his work. Multiple other plumbers we've used have left a mess behind even when wearing foot protection, but not these guys. I'm glad no one else seems to have gone through what I had to with the owner of this company, Robert Carpio. My sewer was backing up into my bathroom & toilets. I contacted 2 plumbers who were unable to clear the line. They didn't charge me anything. The 2nd plumber recommended someone named Robert & gave me his number. When his guy showed up, he pulled out his tablet, scrolled down & told me to sign the contract. I did & asked for a copy of it. I was told he'd send it. He didn't. When the crew arrived they did the usual things trying to clear the line. The camera showed my line from the house was clear, but it would then go black. They hydro jetted & sewage backed up into my front yard. They did not clean up the mess. I again asked for a copy of the contract, same result. I cleaned up the mess. They dug a hole next to the sidewalk more than 10 feet deep. They covered the hole with my blue recycle bin without even asking if it was okay. I then told them that I was going to get a second opinion. Within 20 minutes his guy was at my door demanding that I pay the full amount of the contract I had signed. I said no. Half an hour later Robert Carpio showed up & demanded I pay the full amount even though they hadn't been able to do the job. He threatened to put a lien on my house. I still hadn't received a copy of the contract. To make this long story short, the next plumber took one look at what they'd done and said the situation was extremely dangerous since anyone walking by could fall in that hole. He covered it with plywood. Carpio finally settled for the smaller amount I offered since they had done some work. I'm 80 years old, and did not deserve to be threatened. It took some time before I finally received a copy of the contract. The work has been completed by an excellent contractor, and my blood pressure is back to normal. I purchased a 1927 House in West LA that had original plumbing (90+ years old) so it obviously needed work. Panda Rooter did an incredible job both with the plumbing underneath the house and with the city sewer connection. Impeccable service and really amazing people. I live in an older apartment building. The drain to my shower doesn't have a proper cap so I use a basic rubber one. My engagement ring fell in the shower and the cap wasn't on properly so the ring fell into the shower drain. Spoke with Dory on the phone and she was so sweet and understanding. I wanted someone to come ASAP and she worked with me to make that happen. The plumber who came was Tony. He came with another man but I didn't catch his name. Tony was very respectful of my home and made sure to keep things clean. He vacuumed up all this gunk and tried to see the ring using a camera. He made several attempts. After over half an hour I knew that we weren't going to find the ring and Tony said it wasn't looking too good. But Tony kept trying and I really appreciated his effort. We ended up not finding the ring unfortunately. But Tony was so sweet and didn't charge for his service. I didn't deserve that so I just want to tell the world how amazing Tony is (and Dory too).
